Volcano Run Avatar

I need help getting a score of 1500+ on Volcano Run II for the avatar. Any tips?

It's a difficult avatar. My highscore is only 861 :P

 

I find it helps me to back up in the beginning, using C. This gives me more time to react to all the fireballs and such.

Use your first life for distance only, and try to avoid gems. The game gets harder with the more gems you get. Once you get 1020-ish in distance using C and V to slow down and speed up, respectively, use your last two, or three if you use the cheat code, to get the gems.

Awesome, I needed some tips on getting this avvie too, didn't even realise you could use C & V!!

I didn't realize that either till now. I always thought you could only move at the same speed.

This is one of games where I like the remake better. :) I've gotten to 1400 distance I think, but never any farther after that. I dunno, it's just natural to me. I knew about c and v, just never use 'cause I'm used to the old version.
