Helloo. :) I'm Becki! I've been playing neopets since the beginning of time (obviously before there was neopets time didn't exist). But that in no way means I'm better than any newbies. I always miss all the plots. :( Anyway, I'm 18, from England, I'm studying Physics and Philosophy at University and my hobbies are... neopets, reading and writing. If I could just sit and read for the rest of my life I feel it would be a worthwhile existence, unfortunately most others think otherwise. =[ Oscar Wilde is my king, and St. Augustine makes me humble. I love literature, but I'm not really pretentious. I never read a book just so I can say I have read it. :D (I started War and Peace. NEVER AGAIN.)

I've read the rules. I hope I haven't broken any already. =( But. Yeah. Hi! :D

Welcome to TDNF, Becki! As far as I can tell, you haven't broken any rules yet, so good for you! (I accidentally broke one on my... third post I think. If that ever happens, just report yourself and the staff will be nice. =] ) I hope you enjoy it here! As long as you don't mind a little insanity, you'll be fine!

Euch, War and Peace... I started it... and kept reading it because I wanted to say I had read it... and then realized that completely kills the point of reading a book, so I stopped. There are many good reasons to read, and as you said, reading just to say you have isn't one of them.

Oh, I almost forgot to tell you: If anyone offers, don't take the cookies! And be careful of Laura. She bites.

What have I left out?... Oh yea. Don't be afraid to ask if you have any questions or need help with something. We're all (usually) nice people here!

Hey Becki, welcome to TDNForums! :D

My name's Stephanie.

Scared already of the mods aye? Don't worry, we're a pretty friendly bunch and from what I seen on your post, you're a nice person. ^_^

Argh, I can't seem to find the right book to read nowadays. My creative writing skills have gone down the drain, or maybe never even existed and nothing I ever write makes sense (in stories of course. How else would I be typing this XD)

Anyway, good to see you've read the rules, cookie warn from Livvy and not to forget, the 'insane' people on this forum (:

Hope you try to stay active and I'll cya around!

Ho hum...war and peace is not everyone's cup of tea. I have it in my collection but have yet to read it. I'm too busy reading my college books lol. Anyways, welcome aboard. At least War and Peace isn't as bad as Watership Down :O

Aww. Thanks. :D I don't mind a wee bit of insanity. I'll probably be a bit quiet and shy at first... but I'm sure when I get to know everyone I'll be a lot more involved. :D Also, England time means that I probably won't be online at the same time as many of you. According to my time, you all replied at 1am this morning. O.<

I think I overuse smilies a bit. I don't try to. I only use them when I'm making them on my actual face... 8D

Stephanie: I always think there's no more books I ever want to read. Then there is! :D I'm re-reading Tamora Pierce at the moment. I got the new one, Terrier? Is amaze. I'm also halfway through the Terry Goodkind series. ^^

Rotcchick: Don't even mention Watership down. O_O Also, Tarka the Otter is along a similar vein and appears to have no plot, just a whole book of description...

Kai: I clicked you back. ^^

You don't overuse smileys any more than I do! =] Don't worry about it. And by the way, that's the only real time to use smileys. When you're actually smiling! =D

(I forgot to mention this earlier, but Kai reminded me: Becki (and everyone else on this page), I clicked your eggs.)

OMG, you read the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind?! It's so rare for me to find people who have! :O True as toasted toads my friend, true as toasted toads. :D

:O :O!!! This is a real OMG moment!! I've only read the first four (so, I've read Temple of the Winds but not Soul of the Fire) but I LOVE THEM. I went through a small phase of reading half a book a day. And you know how big they are. :D But, alas, university completely got in the way and I've put off starting Soul of the Fire because I know that if I do then I won't do ANYTHING ELSE for DAYS. I am easily obsessed. O_O

Ohh they're amazing though. *squee* I've been getting them out the library but I got Wizard's First Rule and Stone of Tears for Christmas. I always loved Tamora Pierce but it was amazing to find a more adult set of fantasies. :D

I always say true as toasted toads but people have learned to ignore me now. :(

Okay, we MUST chat at some point. First off, who is your favorite character? I have five. Kahlan, Adie, Cara, Gratch, and Zedd. I have met people who say that SoT is just a fantasy Star Wars. =/

Oooh. I'd love to have someone to talk about them with. :D My flatmate reads them too, but whenever I bring them up he always tries to spoil the ones I haven't read. :(

I've only read four, so I don't know. I love Richard and Kahlan. Their relationship is so much better described and built up than any other couple of any other book I've ever read. The part in Temple of the Winds when Kahlan realises that it wasn't Drefan but Richard in that marriage bit is the only part of a book that has ever made me cry. That page went all wrinkly from my tears. :(

I really liked Denna. Even though she was so twisted, I couldn't help but feel sorry for her, and want her to be happy. I suppose that's what you were meant to feel, in spite of your reason.

Obviously Zedd as well. :D And NATHAN. I love Nathan. ^^

Star Wars?? I think the most amazing thing about Sword of Truth is the emotional intensity it has. You're drawn in to every character, every moment. I don't think Star Wars really does that. Especially as it's written as a screenplay. Although I do love Ewan McGregor. :D I feel emotional with love when I see him. :D

I have all the books but have only gotten up to Faith of the Fallen. The only reason people compare it to Star Wars is because of the first book, the antagonist was Richard's father, a la Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker. I can't help but giggle whenever Cara says something witty like 'Hurry up and torture me already before I fall asleep and miss it" XD Gotta love her. so yeah, you don't really gotta worry about me spoiling things. Er...wait, I forget when Gratch pops up. The short-tailed gar? Grraaaaaaaaaatch luuuuuuuuuug richaaaaaaaard.

~*~Welcome Kalisai~*~

Well I thoroughly enjoyed your new user post. I wish I had come over to read it sooner. Unfortunatley with moving, changing colleges, buying a new car,

and becoming news staff I was a little over loaded. I making my comeback now though. Started a little bit today, and I'm increasing from here on out.

I was just so enjoying your conversation with ROTChick. I sometimes find that reading or listening to people talking about

a great book is sometimes just as great as the book itself. At the very least it made me want to check out the series.

Oh, and props to you for mentioning right up front about having read the rules already. Nothing says great new user like an informed new user. Makes our jobs all so much easier. Another new member, DazedandConfused, just started up a topic regarding peoples favorite books, sounds like something you would enjoy if you haven't seen it already.

Oooh, thanks for the link, and for the welcome. :) Everyone is so friendly here! I would definitely recommend the Sword of Truth series, though don't let the first few chapters of Wizard's First Rule put you off...

I love it when people are enthusiastic about books. :) It's something that's becoming rarer and rarer, especially in RL. You're probably 10x more likely to hear people talking about how much they love a Playstation game, or their Nintendo DS. (have to love Harvest Moon though. :D)

The first few chapters of Wizard's First Rule are pretty crucial though. LOL. Maybe I should stop spamming up your new user thread? Anyways, if you want to chat, my contact details are in my profile. :)
