It's like a present. I don't think it's an unknown object, I'm sure you get to pick what goes in the "gift box."

I think it's GREAT that gift boxes will be available. I hope it will be what we want to put in it, not staff decided! Also, a lot of my kids have neopets accounts, I wouldn't mind sending them stuff sometimes. None of them are as neo-crazy as I am though... ;-)

So the $10 cards give you two boxes, and the $25 ones give you 5 boxes. There's a FAQ here. Unfortunately, as you only get the boxes with the cards and not simply when you buy NC via Paypal, players who aren't in the US or Canada (the countries where you can buy the cards) currently cannot get any boxes. Each box is one-use and holds only one item. You can get (or you will eventually be able to get) wrapping for the boxes, but it costs extra.
