Slow clap to misslexilove. I hate Twilight because it's a glorification of an abusive relationship and the ending of the series sets feminism way way back. It's sad when young girls idealize it and sick when women do. The reason why so many can identify with Bella is because she's a blank slate, no personality, no feeling other than "ZOMG Edward do me", no goals. I'm grateful for anything that gets kids to read but the writing is so poor, it's a poor reflection on Meyers editors. There's wayy too much focus on sex (yes showing over and over again how they aren't doing it is still focusing on sex) for a young adult series. I don't approve of anything that shows sex as being bad, scary, while still being cool and forbidden.

Perhaps we need a separate Twilight thread, since this is more general vampire discussion?

 

On other vampires, I like Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles Stoker's Dracula I don't mind True Blood but I am a sucker for southern accents (but I must say Eric is my favorite). Vampires are supposed to be dangerous and sexual (in an uninhibited way) that's what makes the fantasy so good. Sanitizing the image ruins the symbolism and will be dissonant from the rest of vampire literature.

I'm a long time atheist. I was spent to Catholic school for elementary school and one day in 5th grade we had to bring in newspapers, I was flicking through and read my horoscope. The teacher screamed at me and told me I was going to hell. Well that totally didn't work since that was what started my questioning process.

 

I do meditate and take the occasional yoga/discussion class at a local Buddhist temple. It's peaceful and I don't mind a little self reflection. I think you should be a good person since it makes life easier for you and everyone around you. I still eat meat, but I am mindful of where its from and how it was produced. I've been called a secular humanist but I identify more as an atheist.

 

One of the biggest things that caused me to reject Christian religion was that from my reading of religious texts, that Jesus was a big advocate of giving to the poor and personal poverty. All but a handful of orders of monks/nuns completely ignore this. Since this got me thrown out of religion class, I'd like to hear an explanation of the obvious wealth of so many churches when the millions of dollars of art, huge megachurches, thousand dollar suits on pastors could go toward those in need.

I'm an only child and I've always been happy with it, never asked for siblings. Now I have my sorority sisters and my boyfriends fraternity brothers and they are all the siblings I never knew I wanted.

 

My parents are both from big families and there's always some sort of drama, someone not talking to someone and when my grandmother died they were fighting over stuff before her body was cold. It was disgusting. Needless to say I wouldn't want siblings like that.

I must send a thank you letter to the TNT for this. Yes I read the books. Initially they just struck me as poorly written vampire fluff, but after a little thought they are hundreds of pages glorifying abusive relationships. Newsflash it's not ok because it involves vampires. If you are under 15 I can excuse it, but I work with a 40 year old woman with her Masters degree who *adores* the series. So sad.

I dont even know how long it took for me to get the Rock Mote. All I have to say is FAIL neopets, worst idea for a plot step ever.

Hmm I can't find the pile of gears in any of the known locations. I like the new world it's very steampunk (if you don't know what steampunk is check it out, super cool art).

I picked the middle one and got 10k.

I'm almost at 5 million. I think I made my first million in like 8 or 9 months. I was hovering around 3 million after I kept buying things. I'm pretty much on Neopets for the games, so I play and bank. I would say the first million took the longest. Once my bank interest was over 1k it sped up a lot.

I will never play this game again. Got the plot score looks like its around 1000 took around 5 tries
