  1. Here's my list of favorite pokemon in type format:

Bug: Scyther, because getting a 4x weakness to fire, one of the most common offensive move types, is dumb imo. (Scizor)

Dark: Houndoom, it's a demon hellhound, what else do I need to say?  Oh right, it breathes fire too!

Dragon: Dragonair, because how the heck did we get Dragonite?

Electric: Luxray, because not every pokemon needs to be OP.

Fairy: Klefki, because it garnered so much hate for some reason.  Random pokemon ftw!

Fighting: Lucario, because for some reason I always seem to forget that they have a subtyping.  Also the movie was great.

Fire: Charizard, because Gen 1 childhood.  Ninetails is cool too.

Flying: Crobat, because it gave everyone a reason not to hate on Zubat's line.

Ghost: Haunter, and I agree with the other people so far, Gengar is sort of a weird evo for the line.  Although Trevenant the undead ent has potential.

Grass: Grovyle, because PMD2 feels. :'|

Ground: Krookodile, because it was the only one I have ever used for some reason.

Ice: Articuno, because it is beautiful to me.

Normal: Persian, because Slash crit % *cough* around 99% *cough* in Gen 1.  Also it fills my favorite stereotype: the local big bad must have a white cat.

Poison: Arbok, and I don't know why.  Scratch that, just remembered about Dragalge!

Psychic: Lugia, hands down.  Although Xatu is a lonely 2nd down the road.
Rock: Aerodactyl, because it is my favorite fossil.  Despite having so many glaring weaknesses.

Steel: Skarmory, because the idea of having a bird with knives for feathers is awesome.

Water: Seadra, because I never was able to evolve him myself. Ahh memories...

Is it just me or are most of these Flying types as well? xD  Whatever!

  2. I totally agree with this, as I have been collecting junk items for the Rubbish avatar, and when I try to take the junk no one usually gets a few times only to get the "Oh, too slow" message I really start to wonder.

  3. Not sure what causes it, but this happens every once in a while and the featured game kind of gets "stuck". It should fix itself (or someone should fix it) in a few days :)

Also, just a friendly reminder that this topic is regarding the featured game.

Depending on how many matches you get, you will get the same NPs for days 10-13 then it resets back to day 1, as long as you don't miss a day .  You will get 19,000 with two matches, 19,500 for 3 matches, 20,000 for 4 matches and 21,000 for terrifyingly bad luck.  After 13 days it resets to day 1.

    Alright, thanks for the info!

  4. Welcome back!  I must admit that I have recently returned to Neopets for similar reasons, and it is nice to see a fellow older player about!

I'm sure a lot has changed...what are your favorite and least favorite additions?

Personally I like a lot of the new dailies, like the Mysterious Negg Cave and Anchor Management, but I dislike how glitchy Ghoul Catchers is.  It appears to have even more problems loading than Habitarium and Key Quest combined D:

  5. The Whoot appears to deflate, as if all of the air was taken out of her balloon.  Her beak works wordlessly.  "I- what, there's no way, there must be a mistake," she longed to voice, but found that she couldn't.  Taking another long look at what was her home, she turns a broken gaze back on the witch in front of her still.  "Is- is The Beast That Lurks Behind The Tree still oout there?" she finally asked, hiccuping with grief.  Letting out a bitter snort, she mutters, "They'd have too change it's name, there-there aren't any trees left too lurk behind in the Haunted Woooods, are there?"  Clutching the twig she held close to her chest, the Petpet sobbed.

  6. The next moments flash in a blur, you lose all consciousness and focus on anything. You feel your hands fighting and attacking. Energy is running through you and adrenaline prevents you from feeling any pain. You seem to fight for hours. Days? Weeks? Time blurs by.

Eventually you awaken from what was apparently a slumber, you look around, Sophie is standing next to you with an empty bottle, she's holding her arm and looks to have some mixture of happiness and pain. She looks up behind you and droops her head. "At least... At least you're cured is all..." She whispers. With that she runs off back into the woods.

You stand up and look around, most of The Haunted Woods is in shambles, and the Brain Tree is destroyed and scattered behind you.

Trembling with fading adrenaline, you survey the scene before you.  The entire area you can see is decimated.  Barely a branch remains of any of the surrounding trees.  A few of them even have their trunks broken in two, the heartwood and sap blown everywhere, an idea you would have scoffed at earlier, thinking of the massive old trees.  Swallowing hard, and blinking, you shakily pick up a fallen twig of your friend's and tear off after the Ixi whom apparently cured you.  "SOOOOPHIE!" you shrilly shriek after her quickly retreating form, "WHAT IN FYOORA'S NAME HAPPENED HERE?  EVERYTHING IS GOONE!  I- I can't remember anything, and-and...and the Brain Tree has been toorn too pieces!  I need too knoow!  Tell me please!"

  7. The Brain Tree looks shocked at your transformation. "Well" he says "The person that just ran in and left? That was Sophie." He looked troubled and gazed at you. "This potion will corrupt your mind. And corrupt your morality. Soon you may not be the same person. Sophie I believe is working on a cure, however it may be wise for you to use this power for a short time."

A monster roars in the distance and you see it barreling towards you.

Looking blearily at the Brain Tree, you nod absently, considering a nap instead.  Well that seemed to explain why her head wouldn't quit pounding at least.  The idea of being corrupted made her blink and stare at the ground with a bit more focus, but she couldn't seem to hold any sort of mental coherence; thoughts randomly came and went without order, making it extremely difficult to regain her internal balance.  "Well this Soophie better be woorking fast," Flutter snorts, her elongated tail twitching involuntarily, "Can't seem too foocus oon anything.  Everything aches aboominably."  With a flare of insight, she straightens and stands, eyes narrowing.  "I'll rip that Krawk too shreds next time I see his soory hide," she hissed dangerously, scanning the undergrowth as if she expected him to jump out at the very moment she paused.

Spotting the creature in the shadows rapidly approaching, Flutter growled almost happily and launched herself at it, claws extended and beak poised to tear flesh.  "Come get some!" she shrieked.

  8. You feel power coursing through you, and you grow to an immense size, larger than even an elephante. Brutish strength runs through you and you begin to lose focus of your actual goals.

Sophie runs into the Haunted Woods and sees you. "Oh no" She says quietly and runs back into Neovia."

Flutter holds her head in both hands for a moment afterwards, feeling a massive migraine coming on.  "Urrrgh, that was hoorrible," she moaned, then was startled as her voice boomed and echoed through the area.  Trying to take a step, she lost her balance due to her new massive bulk and collapsed.  "Oowch.  Hey, Brain Tree, what was I dooing this time too get myself intoo this new mess again?" she questioned, feeling confused all of a sudden as her vision flickered alarmingly.  "And whoo was that oover there?  I feel like I knoow her soomehoow."

Edit: I feel suddenly like I want to draw her new form.  She is now completely quadrupedal due to her weight, thus her issues walking around.

Edit 2: It's about half-done now, basically imagine a giant owl griffin.  I'll try to imbed if possible, otherwise provide a link for you ;)

  9. This was obviously not an answer that the Whoot wanted to hear.  She hesitated, then decided that if she didn't wait this out and potentially take care of The Beast That Lurks Behind The Tree, there would be nothing, barring Sophie, as unlikely as it was that she would be able to do anything either, let alone actually help the Brain Tree willingly again, there to stop the Beast from wreaking havoc throughout the Haunted Woods and possibly beyond.  Smirking bitterly, she turned mischievous eyes on the Tree above her.  "Hey, you're always wanting to know something new about the world, right old friend?  Consider this something to add to your repository of knowledge," she squawked, then hunched over as a wracking pain caused her to hack and cough futilely as the oil attacked her innards, or so it felt.

Edit: I imagine the concentration to weight ratio to be much larger for Flutter here, despite the small amount she ingested, than it was for the Neopets in the Tale of Woe, as birds are extremely small, light, and have quick heart rates and metabolisms, meaning that what was taken would circulate much more quickly than it would for a mammal, like the hounds Gelerts are based on.

  10. "Ookay, soo it wasn't a Transmoogrificatioon Pootioon then.  Shoooot, I thoought I had that nailed.  Woonder if my wings'll groow as well, it woould be rather oodd noot being able too fly," she muttered to herself.  Gesturing aimlessly with her small arms, the Petpet seems exasperated with the Tree.  "Y'make it soound like the pootioon'll kill me oor soomething," she rasps, already starting to feel...something happening.  Pacing a few steps in thought, she paused to cough briefly.  'Would the oil have absorbed quickly enough to work even if I forced myself to vomit?' she aimlessly wondered as she stared at the traces of blood on the paw she had coughed into.

  11. (I figured, but hey, plot matters ;D)

Edit: And I loved the premise to that plot btw, it was awesome <3

The Whoot would have pointed the witch in the right direction, but she had run off before anything could be done.

Flutter shrugs, remembering the tales but not recognizing the oil on sight, nor the Neopet.  Wordlessly, walks a fair distance away from the Tree and pours out the rest of the gunk on the forest floor.  Coming back over she remarks, "Hey, woorst that happens, I groow a coouple oof pairs oof extra limbs, right?  Coould be woorse, much woorse, and anyway, it goot that freak too leave, didn't it?" in a tone seeming much too flippant than the situation called for, considering she was probably going to mutate painfully even with the small dose she took within the hour.  Thinking for a moment, she looks up at the Brain Tree, asking, "Hey d'ya think having extra limbs would come in handy?" with a completely straight face.

  12. Against her better judgement, Flutter takes the bottle.  Glancing at the Brain Tree, perhaps for advice, she notices that he is currently unresponsive, in the trance-like 'sleep' that the tree was prone to enter when in a stressful state.  Looking again at the concoction, she frowns, thinking that it should be impossible to drink the entire contents, even if she wanted to, as the amount of fluid was rather large for a Petpet of her size.  After much deliberation, she unstoppers the bottle and sniffs the fumes that come out.  It smelled foul, but most medicine does, she figured, and took a tiny sip of the potion, then waited to see what may happen, putting the bottle down for a moment and restoppering it.

  13. The Whoot gives the bottle an strange look before rolling her eyes and nodding.  'Fine, may as well I suppose, at the least it should make him leave and not cost me anything,' she thought as she walked over towards the ruins, hoping that he realized that as a small Petpet, he couldn't expect anything much larger than a softball, as it would be too heavy for her to carry.

Keeping a wary eye out for potential dangers and haunts, as she had no desire to make her task harder, Flutter poked around the rock piles, which all appeared rather similar to her.  'Who in their right mind collects rocks?' she wondered while searching.  'Then again, some Neopets even collect Dung items, so I suppose it could be worse...'

Turning around a large stone wall, she spotted a small rounded rock with an interesting crack along it's side that ran along most of the stone and spider-webbed outward.

Picking it up and twisting it around to give it a critical look, which it apparently passed, she decided that this was good enough and began to head back.

  14. Stiffening and turning her head to face the merchant, she narrows her eyes.  "That better noot be Hissi Ooil," she rumbled softly.

The tired Whoot mantles her wings slightly, as if in preparation to strike, before relaxing a tad.

"A moooot pooint I suppoose, doo yoou see any neoopooints oon me?  I have noothing."

  15. The Brain Tree sat entirely still. There was almost now reaction as the potion seeped through his tattered and smashed remains, with a little energy regained he glances at you. "It isn't gone. It isn't even sleeping. The Beast is still roaming around the Haunted Woods..."

Flutter grimaced at that, and shook her feathers lightly, causing a few of the displaced ones to realign.  "What can I doo aboout that?" she muttered, bitterly, "I barely can fly acrooss a small sectioon oof Neoopia befoore I am in this state here, barely fending ooff uncoonscoousness."

  16. She sighs "I would like you to show up on time. Alright. Fine, I'll help you, but don't think it is because I like you, or the Brain Tree." She grumbles and walks back into her hut to make a potion.

She walks back a few minutes later and hands you a bottle. "Here" she says "Pour this on the Brain Tree and it should perk him up. As for The Beast, I'd say your best bet is to try to wait it out if you can. If that isn't an option then we really only have one other option..."

Pleasantly surprised that she did not jump on her offer, Flutter gingerly accepts the potion with a gracious dip of her head.  "Thank yoou Soophie foor yoour assistance.  I will return as soooon as there is time too infoorm yoou oof the situatioon oone way oor anoother."

With that she lifted off and winged back over to the Brain Tree and landed softly, careful not to spill or disturb the potion, as Sophie's concoctions were known to be occasionally explosive.  Happy to not see The Beast That Lurks Behind The Tree about, she hopped over to the trunk of the tree, chirping, "This is froom Soophie, Brain Tree, and she says that it'll help yoou feel better," as she distributed the solution as directed.

  17. Sophie stands there impatiently with a hand on her hip. "I was told you would be here earlier. "In 30 minutes" They said. Now what was it? The Beast? That's what this is about? Well... I've had a bad experience with the Brain Tree. Why should I help him?"

Counting slowly to three to help calm her initial spike of anger, she let out a deep breath.  Exploding at the Ixi would not help her situation.  So Sophie had known.  Of course, the witch had an uncanny ability to figure these things out along with an extensive contact network.  Flutter closed her eyes briefly before looking up at the Neopet looming above her.  Somewhat reluctantly, recalling her previous 'deal' with those whom knew much more than they should, she replied in a carefully measured tone, "I realize yoou and the Tree have noot had...the best oof relatioonships.  Hoowever there is a life at risk and I am willing too strike a deal foor your help and assistance with the situatioon at hand.  What woould yoou like?"

  18. A Zebba mysteriously appears flying next to you, shouting in the wind "Do you think you can do anything?! Do you think you have power?! YOU HAD YOUR CHANCE" It flies away into the wind

The Brain Tree moans and screams "FLUTTER! GO FIND SOPHIE! MAYBE SHE CAN HELP!"

Completely ignoring the Zebba and blinking hard against the headwind and her own tears, Flutter shrieks, "I WILL, YOOU BETTER HOOLD OON BRAIN TREE OOR I- I'LL KICK YOOUR ROTTEN TRUNK SOO HARD YOOU'LL FEEL IT IN THE AFTERLIFE!"  Banking sharply, she swoops over to Sophie the witch's shack.  Nearly collapsing in front of the green Ixi, the physically and emotionally exhausted Petpet gasps out, "Beast...struck the Brain Tree...he's hurt...it's really bad...you've goot to help him!  He'll die!"

  19. The timer ticks.

A bolt of lighting shoots and lands behind the Brain Tree

    2

The Brain Tree screams in fear and swings blindly behind him

    1

With as much speed as could be imagined you witness an odd indescribable creature ripping limbs off of the Brain Tree. You recall tales of The Beast That Lurks Behind the Tree, never had it been this violent. The Brain Tree cries out in pain as multiple lashes burst upon it. Limbs fly off in all directions and you begin to fear it is entirely lost. The townsfolk scream in fear running away, even the Esophagor tries to escape.

In your ear you hear the familiar voice of the Meepit whispering, "You should have moved faster"

    0

Flutter almost plummets as her wings lock in place.  She is both desperate to flee and to land, to...to at least find out what has happened to her closest and only friend.  Torn by indecision.  The Whoot lands, dazed and shaking slightly.  In the back of her mind, some remnant of her mind notes that the Meepit spoke to her in a chiding tone, as if she should have done better, nay, that she was somehow responsible for the tragedy by not finishing the 'race' before the timer ended.  As the Humans, Neopets, Petpets, and Petpetpets fled the scene past her, one almost trampling over her, the Whoot stares ahead blankly, not comprehending anything, wings dead at her sides.  She is blind to all but the horror of what lies ahead of her.  Her short stature is the only thing that keeps her from being trampled underfoot as the townsfolk stampede past, around and over her.

    -1

Suddenly, with a violent jerk and a piercing keen, the Whoot lunges into the sky once more, hoping, even praying, that she may find something.  Barring that, the Petpet vows to do all she can against the Beast, little as that will be.  Muscles already burning with overuse and fatigue, she flies through the pain towards the tree.

  20. After that quick glance at the map, your eyes widen and you drop it to the ground five feet below you, wary of what the timer is referring to.  As if on cue, the parchment fades from a pale yellow to a dark one, to brown then to black near the center, spreading slowly towards the corners.  Landing a good distance from the map, Flutter glares at the paper, believing it cursed in some fashion.  A faint hissing is heard from the map before a new timer appears, this one white on the blackened parchment, reading 15 seconds.

Getting a distinctly bad feeling about this, the Whoot swiftly decides that discretion is the better part of valor and launches her tired body back into the sky, boosted by fear-based adrenalin.
