  1. Faerieland!! Go underdogs! The last year I played I was with Maraqua but I thought I'd shake things up a bit. It's hard to choose, but like Dawn I think it's kind of irritating that a lot of the teams are all-male. Faerieland at least has a good mix, and the boys are looking very posh in purple and pink after all; seems like a pretty cool place to be.

I just hope me and my bum finger don't weigh the team down...

  2. It's so hard to decide. I'm currently trying to zap my Gnorbu Faerie, I just really like the colors and the little dumpy wings the Gnorbus get. Maybe she will get some cool cross-paint clothes along the way. Right now she's a wraith, which I didn't intend but is pretty cool. I guess I could keep it but...it just doesn't fit.

If I could have, like, literally any pet I wanted fall into my lap, it would be ether a Maraquan Xweetok (so cuuuute and it's modeled after my favorite sea slug!) or a robot Bori. Other than that I'm pretty happy with what I have.

  3. Oh, that's a bummer that it turned around like that, I'm sorry.

If it helps, there are people who react badly at first, and then come around to be supportive and understanding. Parts of my own family were like this -- REALLY didn't get it, and didn't like it, but are now, at a minimum, fine with it, and in one case she actually did a lot of research on her own and went from being sooooper uncomfortable to being a great ally. It doesn't always happen like this, unfortunately, but it is possible. Don't give up hope. Remember you're not alone.

And I hate to add to the bummer-fest, but you should check your employment rights. I can't speak to other countries, but in most US states it is, in fact, perfectly legal to discriminate based on orientation and gender identity. :( Fortunately most big companies now have their own policies that protect those things, so it may not be a problem, but you should know your rights.

  4. Sorry to post on an old-ish thread but I just wanted to chime in and say how great this discussion has been. (I've actually been impressed with how welcome Neopets spaces are in general to different genders identities.) My gender is complicated, so I appreciate it. (BTW, on Neopets some people have their gender as "Robot," they should make that a standard option!)

  5. Neopets in the past used "looking for things in the source code" as a puzzle device during plots. I guess they haven't done that in a while, but they seem fine with people looking at the source code to solve, say, the Lunar Temple, since that solution is listed on multiple official fansites. [EDIT: They also said explicitly they don't mind in this editorial: http://www.neopets.com/ntimes/index.phtml?section=editorial&issue=254 ]

Anyway, it's just my opinion but I seriously doubt anything bad will come of this. :)

  6. Yay Altador Cup! Well, I probably won't play as much as I did last time now that one of my fingers is broken, so no button mashing (looking at you, Make Some Noise). At least I can play the actual Yooyooball game with the mouse. Any predictions?

  7. Hi everyone, I'm Slug, longtime lurker. I decided to join TDN because I just can't stand looking at the official Neo forums anymore- do they give anyone else a headache with the way they're formatted?

I played Neo when I was in elementary school and then picked it up again as an adult as a diversion for quiet evenings. I'm a biologist and I love slugs and bugs. I'm most proud of my mollusk gallery. I'm also a stock market fiend. And I like customization, although I don't have a big budget for it. Other than that I do a little of everything, but I'm not great at any of it! :)

Well, that's me, I hope to meet some new friends!
