So... I just need to talk and let off steam. My best friend's dad died today. But we practically lived at each other's houses, so I knew her dad really well. He died while taking a nap, but we don't know how. But what happened for me was I got home from school, and I got this text from my friend saying "come over right now, I need a hug". She is not a touchy feely person so I ran over to her house, and when I got there all she said was "My dad's gone". This hit me really hard, because he was like my second dad.
To make matters worse, she has four younger siblings, and her mom is completely distraught. I just don't know what to do. I told her if she needs anything, even if its just to watch a movie and eat oreos at 2 AM that she can come over and we'll do it. It hasn't really hit us yet, though. It's just the first time any of us have lost someone really close to us, so we both can't really process it. Anyway, it's just weird.

So I just had an amazing week. I went up to Salt Lake Comic Con and had a blast! I got to meet Alan Tudyk (one of my favorite actors EVER) and got some pretty cool stuff. It was also my friend's birthday, so that was a thing. And I successfully made an animation for my class! So, no complaints there. I just had an awesome week.

Welcome!
That's actually really cool that you lived in Korea. And I'm sure you can find many people (myself included) who is willing to be your neofriend.

Welcome back!
I am also a fellow geek. I could go on for hours about some of that stuff... Anyway, hope you enjoy your time here!

Sooooo.... It's been a while. A looong while. So I decided to reintroduce myself to everyone out there. In the time I've been gone, I have started college (not fun), painted four of my neopets and morphed two others, am hosting an exchange student, went on tour with my orchestra, and went to two ComicCons.
For those who don't know me (which is most of you) I would die without music. I play three instruments, and am in a local youth orchestra. I want to become an animator, and I like to write. A lot. I have only ever had a pet fish, but I used to volunteer at a zoo. I am planning on traveling to Europe next year, and Japan the year after that. I speak English (obviously), Spanish, and am learning Japanese.
On neopets I am minime9712 and miniaturetalent.
Anyway, that's enough about me. I can't wait to meet all of you and get back into the forums. Hopefully I'll actually stay active this time.

I won a gold key in key quest and got a striped pb! Coincidently, that's the color I've been wanting to paint my korbat!

Thanks for all the congrats again! It means a lot!
On another note, I do now know some of the pieces we are playing. They are: Themes from Hook, Overture from Creatures of Prometheus, The Andalucia Suite, English Folk Songs, a piece by the Boston Pops (I'm forgetting the name), Love Duet, possibly The Carnival of Animals, and some others that they haven't told us about yet.
Once again, thanks for all the congrats!

Many thanks for the items and neopoints!

Thanks so much for all the congrats!
Congratulations!! Joining a youth orchestra was the best decision of my young musical life back in the day ^_^
Do you know any specific repertoire you're playing this season?
I do not know any specifics yet, but if you go on youtube and search UVYSO Philharmonia you should be able to find some from last year that they did.
Congratulations!! Is that something you're hoping to do professionally? Because it sounds like this opportunity is a great stepping stone for a future career :)
This is something that I do want to do professionally one day :)
Congratulations! That is so amazing! What instrument do you play?
In the Youth Symphony Orchestra, I'll be playing the viola.
That's exciting, congrats! :D What instrument are you going to play? I gather from your interests that you play multiple instruments. Or at least you like multiple instruments :P
I do play multiple instruments! Violin, Viola, and piano.

A few days ago I auditioned for my local youth symphony. It is one of the best in the sate. Today I found out I not only made it in, but I made it in to the top group! :woot: I'll go on tours, and play "professional" symphony music. I literally did a happy dance when I found out.

Where were you on 9/11? This is not meant to be a debate over it, just where you were at, and what you remember. I remember that my parents weren't home, so I went downstairs to where my sister was. I remember her crying, and I was confused because I had never seen her cry. I remember asking her what was wrong, and she tried to explain it to me. I remember watching footage of the towers collapsing over and over again. And I'm curious where all of you guys were at.
Please do not make this a debate over 9/11.

Ahh that's great; I loved my political science class! That's what turned me on to politics in the first place. May I inquire as to why you prefer Romney over Obama? :O
Also, in every speech I have heard from the Democratic Convention, there have been statistics, anecdotes, and/or facts given several times in regards to what Obama has done for job creation, the student loan situation, and other issues under the same economic and social umbrellas like improving fuel economy in cars and supporting LGBT rights. It's often easy to miss these things when you're set on not hearing them, if you know what I mean ;) Besides, at this point, every party is mudslinging to some degree. In the RNC it was all about how Democrats are degrading family values and Obama wants to take away your hard-earned money and etc. Here, it's just that Romney doesn't know what it's like to be the common man and his platform will not defend your freedoms if you are in a marginalized group. Same intent, different verbiage.
Interestingly enough, I read about a poll on NBC (I think) a couple of days ago that said more than 50% of young voters identify themselves as independent. Who can blame people for not wanting to associate strongly with either party after seeing, as you said, that much of what they do is just try to knock each other down?
I guess I'll rewatch the speeches again.
I'm fairly independent, but I want Romney to win because of the job creation issue. I have no doubt that Obama has created jobs. I have not seen any of that by where I live. Instead I have seen tons of buisnesses that have gone bankrupt incluing the one where my dad worked. My sister can't finish her bachelors degree because her job does not pay enough, and she HATES it. My other sister has worked as a transcriber for the police and learned things about people she knows, things that she never wanted to learn. She satyed with it because of the benefits and is now going back to college in the hopes that this new degree could bring a better job. I'm going to be going to a college on the other side of my state, and it's bad there too. I am willing to take the risk with Romney, because I want a better life. I want a good job, to graduate with a good degree. If not, I'm only going to have a basic associates, and I don't just want an associates.
So, now you know. Who knows, maybe I'll be eating my words during the next four years, but I hope not.

I've been watching for my political science class, and there's been really interesting speeches. I personally hope Romney wins. What I find interesting is that in the big speeches at the end of the night is all attacking Romney and saying what Obama wants to happen, not what Obama has done. I think Clinton talked a little about that, but still.

Sad that you're leaving! If I could have some NPs and Plushies? You seem crazy generous to give all this away.

What religion, if you don't mind my asking? There are probably many other things your religion "believes" that most people never give a second thought about. Besides, some people within the Abrahamic religions even think that the bible/quran doesn't condemn homosexuality at all (mainly due to alternate or mistranslations).
Also, being gay isn't a choice. ;D
I know it's not a choice, just used it for lack of a better word. But I am LDS, and yeah, we do believe things that most people don't give a second thought about. I don't like to say it over the internet, because then I get asked a lot of stupid inconsiderate questions and stuff like that, But like I said before, I'm not going to hate someone just because they are gay. I'd rather get to know the person first than, "Oh, you're gay? You must be evil!" type thing.
-
Personally, I don't believe that it's right, that's how I was raised, what my religion believes, and that type of thing. HOWEVER, I don't hate anyone that is gay, or lesbian, or whatever. I get that it's their choice, and that's that.

I have played in concerts before, and recorded some, and I personally have never put my videos on youtube, there is one video there. It was our full symphony performance, and I had a solo in it. Here it is :)
And thank you so much for all the congrats!
And yes, I play violin, viola, as well as piano, and I hope to learn guitar sometime in my life.

Japanese food for sure. My dad used to live in Japan, plus we have a bunch of friends that like to visit, so we can make some pretty authentic stuff. Especially when we go to this local market that has EVERYTHING Asian related for super cheap. I've kind of grown up on it...
Also, Mexican food is good too. I've grown up with Mexican neigbors, so... I've become spoiled regarding tortillas, horchata, tamales...
