  1. Hi all, I need some help. I tried to play "Attack of the Slorgs" for the first time today, and I can get the game to load to the first menu screen, but when I click "Play Game" nothing happens. If I click it enough times I get an error message saying there's something wrong with the playback, or something like that. I have Shockwave installed, so I don't think that's it. Is this a problem other people are having, or is it just me? Should I just try again later, or is there something I can do to fix this? Thanks!

  2. Half the time I place bets, I forget to check if I won or not, woops :rolleyes_anim: but I just found out I won 17000 from the last time I bet apparently. :woot: That was a fun surprise.

Lol, nice! I can't imagine forgetting to check my bets. I get antsy when it starts to get around that time of day, can't wait to see if I won or not. (Half-hour to go...)

  3. I'm a big believer in Food Club and Stocks. Stocks take a while to realize a profit, but if you invest every day in a different 15 np stock, you can get a nice portfolio going that will pay you back in the long run.

Food Club is more risky, but you get your return quicker too. If you find a good guide or guides to follow, you should do alright most of the time. There's a thread here devoted to talking about FC, you might want to check it out.

  4. Well, Christie put up a set that was silly when she did it, but now makes sense with the change in odds. She put Stuff-a-roo in 8 of her 10 bets, and he's now 2:1. Haven't done the math on how it changes her overall odds, but I don't think anything drops to below 16:1, except the Stripey/Tailhook bet.

  5. Hugger22 is Hugo (Malvoliow pet page), who we often recommend here. Lefty_libra posts their bets on the FC Competition thread, like I do.

Hugo's not betting today, he didn't like the odds. Lefty_libra has their's posted on the board.

Ack, Neopets changed the odds for Lagoon on me when I was halfway through my bets. Had to make some on-the-fly changes to keep from coming up short on a few bets. Oh well, better than it happening after I bet.

  6. Yeah, I liked one person's description of the betting for tomorrow: "It looks like a pirate's slop bucket."

Personally, I think I'm going to try Lucky x (Fran, Blackbeard) x (Gooblah, all of Lagoon), unless odds change or I see a set I like better.

  7. Well, I posted my bets as part of the Monthly Competition on the Games Board. We'll see how I do. I'm a little nervous about sharing my bets with people, but I think it'll be fun.

EDIT: Won 12:10 on my bets. Not a lot, but not a bad start.

  8. The Food Club is also decent. There are numerous guides on betting. And I have a club going in general chat about it, too. It's betting, so there's always a risk. But in the past few weeks, maybe a month, I've gotten over 300k profit from using a guide and betting on decent to good days.

I agree that Food Club is a good way to make money, especially if you're pressed for time. You place your ten bets on one day, then pick up any winnings and place your new bets the next day, etc. It only takes a few minutes, especially if you have a good guide. With a 9 year old account, you'll be able to make some serious bets that can get you a good return on the days that you win. (Yes, you will lose sometimes, but your winnings can make up for it, esp. with a good guide. Am I repeating myself a bit? It's true.)

As Fever mentioned, we do have a little club going on that can help you pick a guide or guides, or even help you do it yourself, if you wish (more time intensive, but not by much).

Stock market's also good, if you're patient and can invest every day. You buy 1000 shares at 15 each day, and wait for them to go up. It's another good one if you're short on time.

  9. Arena Breakdown for Round #4308, Jan. 31, 2011

Here is one breakdown of the possibilities in tomorrow’s betting, for those who want to do it themselves, or want to understand why certain bets are popular.

Disclaimer: I am new at this, and do not claim any special ability at analyzing Food Club stats. Use at your own risk. I do my betting based on the points outlined in Revenge’s Food Club Guide. I encourage you to read it and experiment on your own, like I did.

Stats given, in order, are Pirate Name, Current Odds, Strength, and Food Adjustment (Favorites - Allergies). They were nice and neat in my Word document, but won’t be here.

Purple indicates odds that have changed since I first posted. Check the notes at the bottom of the post.

    Shipwreck:

    Pirate Name Odds Strength F.A.

    Admiral Blackbeard 13:1 76 +1

    Scurvy Dan the Blade 2:1 87 +3

    Stuff-A-Roo 13:1 59 -2

    Orvinn the First Mate 9:1 52 +1

Scurvy Dan is the overwhelming favorite here, with Orvinn as a weak second. You might keep one bet reserved for Orvinn, just in case.

    Lagoon:

    Pirate Name Odds Strength F.A.

    Peg Leg Percival 13:1 73 -1

    Squire Venable 13:1 61 +1

    Young Sproggie 4:1 73 +3

    Franchisco Corvallio 2:1 81 +2

Despite his odds, Young Sproggie is a strong second contender, behind Franchisco. I think either one could win.

    Treasure Island:

    Pirate Name Odds Strength F.A.

    Lucky McKyriggan 2:1 82 +3

    Federismo Corvallio 3:1 81 +1

    Puffo the Waister 4:1 68 +3

    Ned the Skipper 13:1 79 -4

Ned the Skipper is clearly out of it, but that’s the only thing that can be said for sure in this match-up. Even the weak Puffo is a threat at +3 FA. Better off to bet all three, or avoid them entirely.

    Hidden Cove:

    Pirate Name Odds Strength F.A.

    Ol’ Stripey 13:1 74 +4

    Fairfax the Deckhand 13:1 71 +2

    Gooblah the Grarrl 2:1 93 +3

    Buck Cutlass 4:1 89 -1

A tougher match-up than it first appears. Gooblah might seem to have a strong edge, with +3 FA and 2:1 odds, but there are some strong 13:1’s there, with high FA’s, and Buck can not be discounted, even with -1 FA. Bet Gooblah, but save some bets for Buck and Stripey at the least.

    Harpoon Harry’s:

    Pirate Name Odds Strength F.A.

    Captain Crossblades 11:1 66 +3

    The Tailhook Kid 2:1 81 +3

    Bonnie Pip Culliford 10:1 76 0

    Sir Edmund Ogletree 4:1 79 +1

Another arena where betting them all or betting for none might be a good strategy. Bonnie Pip is the weakest here with a zero FA, and you might be able to get by without him. Even Captain Crossblades is a threat to win at +3, although he is significantly weaker than Tailhook.

EDIT: As of 5pm NST, Orvinn had dropped to 9:1, from his original 6:1. This makes him a much weaker possibility.

EDIT 2: As of 8pm NST, Bonnie Pip had dropped to 10:1 from 7:1. My advice about being able to discount him continues to hold.

  10. Arena Breakdown for Round #4307, Jan. 30, 2011

Here is one breakdown of the possibilities in today’s betting, for those who want to do it themselves, or want to understand why certain bets are popular.

Disclaimer: I am new at this, and do not claim any special ability at analyzing Food Club stats. Use at your own risk. I do my betting based on the points outlined in Revenge’s Food Club Guide. I encourage you to read it and experiment on your own, like I did.

A good example of how strength influences odds today, we have many pirates at 2:1 with negative Food Adjustments.

Stats given, in order, are Pirate Name, Current Odds, Strength, and Food Adjustment (Favorites - Allergies). They were nice and neat in my Word document, but won’t be here.

    Shipwreck:

    Pirate Name Odds Strength F.A.

    Ned the Skipper 7:1 79 0

    Squire Venable 13:1 61 -1

    Ol’ Stripey 5:1 74 +3

    Buck Cutlass 2;1 89 -2

With Buck dealing with a negative FA (-2), Ol’ Stripey might pull out another win. Ned’s still in the running despite a 0 FA, and Squire Venable is probably out of it.

    Lagoon:

    Pirate Name Odds Strength F.A.

    Fairfax the Deckhand 13:1 71 0

    The Tailhook Kid 2:1 81 +2

    Stuff-A-Roo 13:1 59 0

    Admiral Blackbeard 2:1 76 +1

Two 2:1’s and two 13:1’s. Tailhook has a slight edge in both strength and FA, but I’d cover both him and Blackbeard if I were betting this arena.

    Treasure Island:

    Pirate Name Odds Strength F.A.

    Puffo the Waister 13:1 68 +3

    Bonnie Pip Culliford 9:1 76 +2

    Lucky McKyriggan 7:1 82 0

    Gooblah the Grarrl 2:1 93 -1

Usually, Gooblah is a lock to win, but that may not be the case today. Many I know are covering Lucky and Bonnie as well, with some throwing Puffo in as a safety, to boot. Go Gooblah, but have some back-ups, seems to be the strategy for today.

    Hidden Cove:

    Pirate Name Odds Strength F.A.

    Federismo Corvallio 2;1 81 +2

    Orvinn the First Mate 6:1 52 +4

    Young Sproggie 4:1 73 +1

    Captain Crossblades 3:1 66 +3

A tough arena, with a lot of close odds and good FA’s. Best advice is either to stay away entirely, or try to cover them all.

    Harpoon Harry’s:

    Pirate Name Odds Strength F.A.

    Sir Edmund Ogletree 13:1 79 +2

    Franchisco Corvallio 5:1 81 +6

    Scurvy Dan the Blade 2:1 87 +8

    Peg Leg Percival 13:1 73 -1

Yes, you’re reading that right. Scurvy Dan has a +8 FA, and some make him a lock to win. I tend to err on the safe side and would put in a few Franchisco bets as well. But making Dan the base of your betting set isn’t a bad idea.

  11. Arena Breakdown for Round #4306, Jan. 29, 2011

Fever asked me to do a breakdown of the possibilities in today’s betting, for those who want to do it themselves, or want to understand why certain bets are popular.

    Shipwreck:

    Pirate Name Odds Strength F.A.

    Peg Leg Percival 13:1 73 -1

    The Tailhook Kid 13:1 81 -2

    Buck Cutlass 2:1 89 +2

    Fairfax the Deckhand 11:1 71 +1

Both handicapped with negative Food Adjustments, I think we can probably rule out Peg Leg and Tailhook for upsets. Buck looks to make a strong showing, but keep Fairfax in mind as a safety. He might just upset.

    Lagoon:

    Pirate Name Odds Strength F.A.

    Franchisco Corvallio 2:1 81 +1

    Orvinn the 1st Mate 13:1 52 0

    Bonnie Pip Culliford 2:1 76 +3

    Stuff-A-Roo 13:1 59 +1

Bonnie Pip has the strongest stats, but don’t discount Franchisco, either. His strength may count for him. Stuff-A-Roo is a possible wild card here, despite his low strength, and I think Orvinn is out of the running.

    Treasure Island:

    Pirate Name Odds Strength F.A.

    Lucky McKyriggan 7:1 82 0

    Admiral Blackbeard 8:1 76 +2

    Squire Venable 13:1 61 -2

    Federismo Corvallio 2:1 81 +3

This is a tough arena today. Squire Venable is out of it, I think, but the other three are all possible contenders. Fed looks good with his +3 Food Adjustment, but the other two are right behind him. Blackbeard’s already upset once this week, and might do it again. You may want to avoid this arena all together.

    Hidden Cove:

    Pirate Name Odds Strength F.A.

    Ned the Skipper 10:1 79 -2

    Ol’ Stripey 12:1 74 0

    Sir Edmund Ogletree 2:1 79 +1

    Puffo the Waister 2:1 68 +4

Puffo could win this one easily, but his low strength means we have to consider the other 2:1, Sir Edmund Ogletree, as well. I don’t believe Ned and Stripey are threats, in fact, I’m expecting Ned’s odds to go higher as the day progresses.

    Harpoon Harry’s:

    Pirate Name Odds Strength F.A.

    Young Sproggie 13:1 73 +2

    Scurvy Dan the Blade 7:1 87 +2

    Captain Crossblades 13:1 66 -2

    Gooblah the Grarrl 2:1 93 +2

Another tough match-up. The two winningest pirates, both with +2 FA, up against each other. Gooblah’s always a good bet, but Scurvy Dan is too, despite his odds. These may lower over time. Young Sproggie rounds it out as a threat to upset. Crossblades can probably be safely ruled out this time around.

EDIT: Purple is for odds that have changed as of 8pm NST. Dan went up a little, instead of down as I thought, making Gooblah a stronger bet. Also a lot of changes in Treasure Island, with both Lucky and Blackbeard going up as well, making Fed a better choice. Finally, Fairfax goes up to 11:1, clearing the way for Buck, but could still be a good safety bet.

EDIT 2: As of this morning, Stuff-A-Roo is now at 13:1.

  12. Yeah, it was 16:10 all around, except for greylorn (Food Club Review) who once again had 0:10. I made 16:10 on my own bets, so that was good. And I was right that Puffo was going to win, even though I didn't bet on him. Wish Gooblah would have won though.

I don't think weight factors in at all. Most guides I've seen discount it entirely. It's all about strength, and food adjustment (Favorites - Allergies).

  13. Well, there were other factors, but it was still an upset.

Tracey (Jamila), Hugo (Malvoliow) and another one I track, Christie (Emeryn_M1R3M), all have their bets up for today.

Tracey's are probably the safest, limiting herself to 3 arenas, and putting in lots of safeties. Hugo and Christie both go with 4 arenas, with Hugo preferring stacking bets of 3 pirate combos, and Christie loading most of her bets with 4 pirates each.

Christie has 4 safeties, not relying solely on Gooblah and Fed. Her line up is Fairfax/Lucky, Fairfax/Bonnie Pip, Gooblah/Scurvy Dan, and Gooblah/Stuff-A-Roo. Hugo's got a Fairfax/Fed bet in case Gooblah loses, and only the 10:1 Gooblah/Scurvy Dan bet if Fed should lose again, which would mean he'd break even, but that's it. If I had to choose between these two, I'd go with Christie. In fact, I may. But Jamila is probably your best overall bet if you want to stay on the safe side.

EDIT: Greylorn (The Food Club Review) has his bets up. I'd rate these as risky, as they depend, not on Buck or Fran, the two 2:1 pirates at Harpoon Harry's, but rather Puffo (6:1) and Ned (10:1). Still, an interesting option nonetheless.

EDIT 2: Lukas (Shazeni) finally has his bets up. They are very safe, with him pairing both Scurvy Dan and Federismo with everyone from the Lagoon arena, with Gooblah as a multiplier. Two Fairfax bets round out the set. Like he says, you'll probably win a 12:1 with this, but I think you'll win.
