  1. Hello, Ignacio! Long time no see; I still remember you from the sim.

Noog just contacted me and directed my attention to this thread.

I would sincerely love to reopen the restocking simulator, but I'm afraid that might not be possible. It initially took me about a month to code and to add all the items to the database, and I unfortunately don't have that kind of time during the school year. Also, as V mentioned above, it's simply too taxing on a server to run it with the way I have it coded. Unless I completely overhaul the system and somehow figure out some way to optimize the coding, it will inevitably crash. Even then, the sheer size of the database of items is ridiculous; if I remember correctly I had like 2000 items and was still adding.

Although it's still remotely possible for me to one day (though unlikely) to think of a better way to code it, I am not seeing that in the immediate future. Even if I did reopen it, though, there would be no one to really manage it and add new content, especially all the new items TNT has probably released in the last year or so.

Do know, however, that if I somehow do fix it, I will make sure to let everyone know.

Thank you (and everyone else who has neomailed me over the past year) for remembering the sim; it means a lot to me.

  2. That's actually PHP, which is the main programming language behind Neopets.

TNT was obviously editing the code and forgot to declare it as PHP. :P In other words, someone goofed. Badly.

  3. Sorry, some cracker attempted breaking into my site last week. He didn't get in, but he accidentally overloaded the server. :K My host server cut my service until I deleted that entire section of my site, so I'm working on fixing it now.

  4. This is awesome. I will be forwarding a link to my husband, as he uses Firefox on his laptop.

And I also second, Mouse_angel's question. Is this possible for Chrome? I use only Chrome at work, as it's the only browser that doesn't lag out my computer.

Unfortunately, there is no Chrome equivalent to NoScript, as far as I know.

i just downloaded noscript, but for some reason it blocks alot of things, like the wheel of excitement for example. What should i do?

You'll find that a lot of things on and off neopets don't work because you are blocking scripts. That's the downside of NoScript.

I'm sure that there's someway to allow scripts from certain sites, like I believe Grant said, whether it be by site or by script. I don't know how to do this, but I'll see about adding this information to the guide.

Whenever a script is blocked, there's a bar that appears at the bottom of your screen. Just click on "Options" or something like that on the side and click "Allow scripts from neopets.com" or whatever site you're on. So yes, it's by site, so once you allow scripts from a certain site, you need not worry about clicking it again every time you view a page.

  5. Thanks for the NoScript trick! Just one question: how do I play games with the NoScript? Can I allow scripts from neopets.com, or would that just defeat the purpose?

    Thanks!

Yes, you can allow scripts from sites you know. :) Neopets.com, obviously, is okay, Google, etc. etc. The ones you should be afraid of are those totally random ones that either have a bad name (such as a reference to scamming/hacking, which is actually quite common) or just make no sense at all.

Wouldn't a person's virus software prevent you from getting CGed? I have a program called ESET Smart Security and it has a system shield that is always scanning and it blocks threats. Since I've installed it I haven't had any viruses. I know CGers don't do the same thing as viruses but wouldn't the system shield block them as well?

Most antivirus programs will NOT block CGers because, of course, they are not viruses. They really aren't programs either, just little malicious lines of code.

And in response to everyone who said this was late, like Noog said, this was only written because a TDN user asked first. If someone had asked beforehand, the guide would've been written earlier.

  6. Many people have heard about these Cookie Grabbers, better known as CGers, that have been circulating around Neopia lately. CGers are malicious scripts used by scammers to gain access to your account, and TNT is most likely looking into the problem as we speak...er...type. CGers shouldn't affect you if you stay alert and take the necessary precautions, but they can be a threat nonetheless. Want to know more about CGers and how to prevent them? Check out our new guide!

Stay away from my cookie! :K

  7. Yep, the Style Showdown has returned again this year with three new categories - Masked in Mystery, Sugar & Spice, and Spaced!

The voting stage for the first category, Masked in Mystery, begins on August 12th, but entries are already open!

    toy_fbmask.gif

You also receive a Fancy Ball Mask and 150 free NC for entering your Neopet! (NC is for your first entry into the event this year.)

Also, you can receive 150 more free NC by logging into Petpet Park with your Neopets username and password, going to the Petpet Park Mall (NC) and claiming your free goodie bag!

  8. The WAMCC Live Draw is going to begin at 5:30 NST today! The thirty-two participants that qualified can be found here, and this draw will randomly determine what groups they will be placed in (to start the tournament round)!

The live feed can be viewed here starting at 5:30, and it should last about 45 minutes to an hour. Also, there will be a board up on the Altador Cup V chat before and during the draw with more information.

    flotsam_blue_wave.gif

    Watch the live feed - there's a GROUPER! =P

The official group stage will begin either tomorrow or the twenty-first, so qualifiers, please watch for the dates of your matches! (Matches work just like the qualifying round did; to win the match, you must score the most Yooyuball goals in a set amount of games.) Don't worry, only 6 Yooyuball games will be played per match.

For more information about the WAMCC, please view the official page here.

Good luck to all who qualified, and thank you to everyone who has participated thus far!

  9. Although I myself have not donated much, the prizes (notably the stamp and the background) are really what is drawing in the donations; not the wheels themselves.

The "event" is quite short of a plot, and many people may find it uninteresting, but personally, I think it was a brilliant idea for fighting inflation. ;) Now we just have to hope that we get some sort of plot. :O

  10. The WAM Celebration Cup's qualifying stage continues! Due to technical difficulties, the qualifiers were stopped for the past few days. Now, though, we need people from all teams to participate! All you have to do is look for our board on the ACV Chat, follow the instructions, and play your five games of Yooyuball. It's as simple as that! Qualifiers will most likely end near the end of this week.

A list of the amount of Yooyuball games needed for each round of the tournament is shown below. Since the tournament round is single-elimination, only the top four people would need to play the full total of 50 games, and that's over a period of two to three weeks! Really, not very many Yooyuball games are necessary. Instead, it's mainly your GPG that matters. (However, even if you think your GPG is low, it still is best to at least try to qualify! You never know; after all, the top 40 people qualify.)

    Qualifying - 5 games - EVERYONE PLAYS

Group Stage - 6 games - TOP 40 QUALIFIERS PLAY

Spec. Elim Group Stage - 5 games - 4 people play

    Round of 16 - 7 games - 16 play

    Quarterfinals - 7 games - 8 play

    Semifinals / Finals - 10 games - 4 play

There will also be interviews and predictions later in the WAMCC (most likely starting after the qualifiers).

For more information about the WAM Celebration Cup (and to play the actual Yooyuball games), please view the TDN version of the homepage here.

  11. Nice report Grant, but quick question, why is Roo Island shown in first on TDN and on TNT's standings they are still 4th? The whole year has been spot on in terms of the standings...is it that close?

We're guessing that it's because we have the wrong formula. ;)

Either that, or it's a glitch with TNT's system, but it's most likely the formula.
