jobo12354
The archive for removing neopet's ads for firefox works...but usually there's the top part where the ad is. But mine is cut off...is there anyway to have it but still no ad?
The Big Cheese
You could try subscribing to "http://easylist.adblockplus.org/adblock_rick752.txt" in adblock, if you know how to do that. Otherwise, open your adblock control window (Ctrl+Shift+E), choose filters at the top, then "Add filter Subscription" On the dropdown for Subscription title, choose "EasyList (USA)". This will also get rid of any ads on TDN ;)
DiCe
I think you shouldn't have the program called chrome edit then. adblock removes the ads and chrome edit cuts the place where the ads were. :) I though have a question about this too. Is this allowed by neopets?
antiaircraft
Yes it's allowed unless you're restocking. Really, I'd quit Neopets if they disallowed blocking all the ads. @jobo12354: The top banner on Neopets is blocked by one of the filters in the 'EasyElement' filter subscription. Just remove the filter subscription and you should get your top banner back (although it will mess up the layout a bit). Personally I just put up with the banner not showing though, as EasyElement is a pretty handy subscription.
jobo12354
I'm not sure where "EasyElements" filter is...I got the new firefox 3 and adblock isn't compatable with it.
antiaircraft
It works fine actually - the author of the extension just hadn't updated the compatibility data yet. Go to "Tools > Add-ons > Find Updates" and it should update the add-on with the proper compatibility data for you. Oh, and I re-read the article - it seems that my methodology is slightly different. What's causing the problem for you is the bit with ChromEdit involved. If you use ChromEdit again and remove the code you added originally, the banner should reappear.
jobo12354
Thanks, I'll go try and see if it works. ----------- I deleted the section in the ChromEdit, but now there's only a gray spot there. Is it possible to not have the ad but still have the design?
antiaircraft
It should be possible, because I managed to get it working here (although it does look kinda ugly). I'm relatively sure that CromEdit is a 'dirty' extension, meaning that it doesn't always revert what it changes...
jobo12354
That is not great at all.........-_-" I'll try and uninstall it and see what happens.
antiaircraft
Okay, I have checked the developer documentation and there should be a relatively simple way to revert Chromedit's effects. 1) Copy these steps to a text file or something, then exit Firefox using "File > Exit". Firefox should not be running when you carry out the other steps below. 2) Open your Firefox profile folder. In Windows XP it should be under C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<random string of letters and numbers>.default 3) Open the 'Chrome' folder under your profile folder. 4) Delete the file named 'userContent.css'. 5) Start Firefox again. If that doesn't work, just post here and I'll try to figure things out.
luv2lindy77
Yes it's allowed unless you're restocking. Really, I'd quit Neopets if they disallowed blocking all the ads. I've been away for a while, so I must have missed this. I thought blocking ads was generally not allowed by Neopets. So it's allowed UNLESS you're restocking now? I do some RSing occasionally. Can you please provide a reference where TNT has said they allow it except for RSing? I'd appreciate it. I want to keep within the rules. :)
