Career Venting - too tired to deal with this

I'm back after a 3 year hiatus, and it good to be back.

For the past year and some months I've been working at one of the oldest child welfare non-profits (112 years old) in my state (US) as a medical records specialist. In February the leadership team decided to discontinue offering outpatient behavioral health services (psychiatry and therapy). Over half of the agency was laid off and over 1,000 client were transferred to different agencies for continued services. It was hard on everyone, the overarching department I was a part of shank by almost half. Things more or less stabilized after this, even with the CEO stepping down in May (nit surprising, that usually happens after a large change).

Last week was almost a nightmare though. A VP stepped down/was let go (the language of the email was very vague, but the tone was suspicious). Then the following day, half of my team was laid off (3 out of 6, not including my supervisor). I scraped by both times, I'm tired of living in fear of being laid off or let go because of budget cuts. I understand it's a risk I take by working at a non-profit, but I can't help but feel that there was some level of mismanagement somewhere at the leadership level despite most child welfare agencies where I live are struggling.

Thankfully I have an interview today at a hospice provider for a similar position. It's more in line with the area I want to be in and possibly an easy transition for an internship required by the program that I'm enrolled in.

It sounds like you are going about it the right way by looking for employments elsewhere. If you think about it shoot us an update about how it went and if you land the job. I understand the stress of possibly not having means to survive. I'm sending you all the positive vibes!

Update:

I did not get the position.. It happens. The interview was a courtesy interview, they had someone lined up for the role already and didn't want to cancel the interview on me. A kind gesture, but a waste of time, even though there maybe be other positions opening up soon that I might be interested in. Oh well, onto the next one! Just going to focus on school right now and passively apply for positions elsewhere.
