Sword-Fighting Packrat
I'm tired of the complaints. The clothes are OPTIONAL.You don't need to buy them. What's the difference between a xweetok with wings of flame than a xweetok with a winter blechy hat?Sure, the wings of flame look cooler, but if you have the time and patience, save up some neopoints and when cool clothes for your pet get released, you can wait until they're at a reasonable price and buy them. It's that easy.TNT had to code the NC Mall, set up the prices, and artists work nonstop drawing the clothes for every pet.And what do they get? "I thought you said this site would be free!" Do you think that's fair? TNT has to make money too. Do you think the NC Mall is worth to complain about? Matt
Perhaps if, say, they sold a "Magical Hitting Stick" (I 'unno. :P) and it gave them the edge in the Battledome then yes, I'd think there's something to complain about there. But there's not. Sparkling things may help your lookup look that slightly more interesting, but they don't help in the day to day running of the Neopian economy. This week's editorial was full of people crying about the NC Mall. Don't like it? Don't buy stuff from it. Simple. Say, if there's a rather expensive clothes store opening near you where some of your friends can, but some can't afford them. Sure, they might look better, but do these materials give them any special powers in the world? No. Would you stand outside it to campaign for its closure? No. Get over it. :P
Sassy
I agree with you guys wholeheartidly. I couldn't believe the NC Mall Boards on Neo; Full of hate. It's like "Why? They're not forcing you to buy it." But what do you expect, there is always someone who is going to whine. Always.

MoonKnight
I know you are right , but my only complain is that if you live in the wrong country (and I do) yoiu couldn't get them even if you wanted to pay , and thats totally not fair... it makes it feel like Americans and Canadians have better rights... Neopets can't get international with this kind of stuff...I think. Well, I'm canadian, but I don't mind giving someone else my privilege to buy stuff.I can't buy stuff anyway.I'm 11. ^_^
Stephi
Neopets can't get international with this kind of stuff...I think. Well, I'm canadian, but I don't mind giving someone else my privilege to buy stuff.I can't buy stuff anyway.I'm 11. ^_^ They will probably eventually get to the international scale but right now they say no so that people will accept it. It's like how initially the site was in English, then they started in different languages. It's also that Canada and the US are EXTREMELY consumer driven. It's like we can't enjoy life unless we can constantly buy things (which is really annoying)... it's makes a perfect starting place for an addon like this. As for the mall in general, I agree that it's just an addon and it's not going to enhance anything except the appearance of your pet. I think that they could have introduced it a bit better by adding it a few months after the initial customization started not right after. They could have waited until the wearables came down in price a little and maybe 6 months after the customization people who can afford wearables with virtual money would be more accepting that they're just expanding on the customization with real money. Basically I think that if the wearables were more avaliable people would just see this as a silly addon.

Ellie_Penguin
I would've complained if users were able to resell those items, but there really isn't a true reason to complain. Also, before they go International, they would first have to test the NC Mall program in the U.S. and Canada and then slowly introduce the idea to other countries. The Original Luna
I partly agree- You don't have to buy things from there- there are other shops. But Neo did say once (a long time ago) they would be a free website. (so it's sorta a two-edge sword.)
Ellie_Penguin
That's the thing, they said the website will be free as in you won't have to pay to play Neopets. They do clarify that on the Editorial. Either way, buying those items are not mandatory.
The Original Luna
Whoops- I made that mistake of thinking that too. I'll reckon that's why so many are angry.
Sassy
But thats the thing you don't understand Just because they added in a BETA part that does ask for payment, it's not something you are forced into buying. Thus, Neopets IS still a free site. You are not being ask to buy stuff from there or to pay to play anything else on neopets. It's just one small section. Be thankfull for that. Ellie_Penguin
I think TNT is doing the best to be fair. They need to pay their staff and they need to upgrade their equipment and that is not cheap. Seriously, you wouldn't like it if you put all that work without a reward, right? If they didn't do any of these, they would technically be working for "Free". Stephi
I think it's exactly as Mischievous Penguin said, the /site/ is still free exactly as the promised. People really need to see these things as addons. It's like when you buy any game and you get the basic package. Then, if you so choose, you can buy new experiences and extras, addons. It's the exact same except you were given a free basic game, but you still need to buy the addons. I think it's just stupid that people need to complain about it. TNT isn't going to take it off the site unless people stop using it, and even then, so if you don't like it then don't use it.
MoonKnight
I already posted it on another topic but I was reffered to here so.. I'm gonna say it again : I jusr found out that aperantly one of the Shenkuu River Rush secret items named The Winged Talisman , can be only found at the NC mall . the item reduces gravity and slows falling (says on it's description in the game instructions) meaning you can do more tricks and earn more points in the game . that means that in resonable speaking anyone who had this item has a chance of getting the game trophy , anyone who doesent , well...can forget about it (and this is one of the coolest games out thereon neopets...) . and even if people still have a chance , this item effects the playing which isn't fair... my point is...an NC mall item effects the playing on the site! unlike they promised .... and although TNT havent yet confirmed this . all the eveadence so far means they broke their promise... RukarioBomb
They removed the Shenkuu Talisman thingy from the NC Mall.
Randomised Secret
I did both. I was unhappy about the NC Mall 90 day expiry and I sent an email to TNT. They changed the expiry date to longer and that was it. However, I'm sick and tired of complaints. The complaints are exaggerated and probably rude, and false. What does Viacom have to do with this anyway?

Sponge
I'm tired of the complaining! I'm not buying anything/Don't plan too but Gosh! I wish people would just accept it. The only thing I really complained about was when they had that shenukku(sp?) Winged Talisman thing. That wasn't cool. :baaasmiley: ^ Such a cool smiley b)
funkeh_renn
TNT doesn't need anymore money, they earn enough. I suggest you go look at this person's userlookup because they have a good point: http://www.neopets.com/userlookup.phtml?user=clubdirthill002 ^__^ ^^ I still don't agree with it at all. Optional or not. Little kids are going to go asking their parents for the money to pay for 'these uber cool items for their favorite game' and the parents, not wanting to disappoint will help them order them or however it's done. And then little kid will be disappointed when one day the item goes *poof*. =( It's a scam. And it's not to keep neopets free...what a lie, they are telling there. I'd love to see the expenditure of that site, I bet it certainly doesn't need any other ways to make money. But TNT certainly should try harder to keep the community it has happier with the actions taken.
smumpkins
Okay, the fact that the site itself is this large means that their server has to man up and take care of it all. They've probably got multiple servers over there. Have you any idea how many network specialists it would take to cover everything going on over there? And it's not like they're making the items mandatory. Buy them if you want. *shrugs* It's entirely up to you. So, stop whining when it isn't exactly how you want it. If it's not the way you like it, then don't buy it! THEY EVEN LET YOU TRY ON THE ITEM BEFORE YOU PURCHASE!!! *takes a deep breath and counts to ten* Sorry, but ignorance seriously angers me. Have a good day. *bows and exits the room*
Ian
I think one thing that's easy to forget about Neopets is that it's a company. The people at the top of the "food chain" (e.g., CEOs of the company) are only thinking about making more money and the NC Mall is one way to make more money off the site. At the heart of it all, they truly don't care about us (the users). I hate to say it but it's true... :P Like Smumpkins said, it's all optional too... they aren't forcing us to do anything. Just like Premium. Be able to try on your clothes is an additional plus. They aren't trying to suck you into anything, but they do want your moneys. :P
smumpkins
Well, if you think about who owns Neopets (MTV), then you shouldn't really be surprised that they want even more money. :mario: If you ever played Maple Story, then you'd realize that it's an almost identical scenario as what they've had going on for a while, now. At least it's not like Gaia, where if you pay cash you can get items that can be sold for a great deal of coins on there. All in all, the only thing that would make more sense to me would be if they made the items last a few months longer. I mean, 90 days just isn't going to cut it for most people. v_v;;
Loc
It is getting annoying all the people spamming about the mall.
