Remove Neopets Ads Problem

I've had that problem for weeks now. In a recent editorial, TNT said they were aware of this and were working on a solution. All you can do it wait it out and find alternate routes to get to those links.

They work if you are on a user lookup.

  • 2 weeks later...

I found a solution.

If you use a Dell computer (or maybe it's just Windows XP), go to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore. Click on System Restore, and it's like two steps and very easy. It basically walks you through it. When it prompts you to choose a date, just choose a day when you know that Neopets worked fine. (for me it was yesterday. :P) Don't worry if you choose too much of a recent date, you can always do it again.

What this program does is bring your computer back to a previous date, so if you installed any important programs within those days, don't do it. (it's alright if you can reinstall them. :P)

I'll leave this topic open until we know TNT has found a solution.

I can't see how that would affect a site on the internet, though, personally. :/

I just put up with it. On the ALP, I have a quick link in a bookmark to Jerrypteri's user lookup and navigate from that page.

No, it doesn't affect the website. When I followed the guide's instructions, I had to monkey around with some folders. It changed what I had done to those folders, and thus returned to its original state.

Yes, but this started happening for me far after I followed the guide. As far as I know, there was nothing that triggered it. Also, it is the same on all of the computers in the house/

Ah guys, here I come to solve another one of your conundrums! Well, I recently discovered that an advertisement banner is blocking the top bar links. While you can't see it (as you've blocked it, naturally!), it overlaps the top bar, so you can't click on anything. Now this code will finish off the ad banner, so you can have access to your links.

Now on Firefox:

Install the extension Chromedit (you can go manually but this will help you by a lot) here: http://webdesigns.ms11.net/chromeditp.html. Now after restarting the browser, go to the tools menu, select Chromedit Plus, and then click Chromedit. Select UserContent.css and paste the following text after pressing Enter to make a space:

div.ban,div#ban, #ban, .ban, #ban_spacer {display: none !important;}

.ad_wrapper,.ad_wrapper_fixed,#ban,#ban_bottom {visibility:hidden !important;}

.adBox2, .footOverlay { display:none !important; }

DO NOT PUT SPACES IN BETWEEN THIS TEXT. It has to be pasted just like that.

Save and restart the browser. Enjoy!

FOR IE USERS (copied from TDN's article, added necessary content):

Open Notepad as normal.

Type in (NOW HERE IS THE NEW CODE, it's the same as FF's):

div.ban,div#ban, #ban, .ban, #ban_spacer {display: none !important;}

.ad_wrapper,.ad_wrapper_fixed,#ban,#ban_bottom {visibility:hidden !important;}

.adBox2, .footOverlay { display:none !important; }

Save the file as something like neopetsads.css - the .css is essential. Save it to the desktop or somewhere memorable, but don't delete it :)

Open IE, then go to Tools, then Internet Options at the bottom of the dropdown; then Accessibility under the General tab. Check the box next to Format documents using style sheet, and find the file that you saved and just created. Once found, press okay and restart Internet Explorer. Enjoy!

Please update the article with the new code. Thanks. :)
