maikrowsoft
QUESTIONHow do I scan for key stroke logger? Perform a scan with an anti-virus. What anti-virus do you have on your computer? You can also use HijackThis. If you can't understand the log file generated by HijackThis you can post it here or PM it to me.
Pookies
Thanks, I will scan soon! I have Norton anti-virus... While I don't know anything about the missing NPs, the good news is I got my original account back! :D Here's hoping nothing MORE happens... 2/29: Yesterday I scanned my laptop using Norton: Adware.Adpeak was detected (4x) Adware.BL was detected W32.SillyFDC was detected and some compressed files were deleted, including uninfected files. Fortunately I had back up copies of those Then I took out an old laptop we havent used in a while and changed pretty much all my passwords for everything I was using online Which kinda sticks because now I am having issues connecting to my YouTube account on my tablet... oh well. _snuffles
I've been doing a lot of research on cookie grabbers due to the crazy inflation and other nonsense going on with the Spaceship event right now. Yes, CGs can be used through any user edited forum -- UL, Petpage, NM, Shop, Guild, Gallery... What Internet browser do you use? Consider NoScript if you have Firefox or ScriptSafe if you have Chrome. Idk for other browsers, but anti-virus alone isn't always enough to help you. Pookies
Right now I have internet explorer (which I dont use), chrome (I used to use it but it had to reintall), and by the time I reintalled Chrome I replaced it by using Opera. My mom uses chrome and I use opera...I used to have Firefox but it started giving me problems (I cant remember now), but I have been using Opera since. But after this, Im thinking going back to firefox? I know I need more than anti virus but help sites havent done much for me...besides just getting me more more confused with all this techy stuff At least CG are still relevant, it seems. When I created the board, all the websites I read said CG are no longer a problem, which is why I wasn't surprised when a lot of reposes to my problem were "I don't know what it could be (since CG are out of the question)". I still think it was CG So when my account was stolen, I wasnt doing much on neopets. Just games and dailies. I dont know what made me start going to shops, but after visiting shops, I got that neomail asking for my UC pet, and then a few days later -- account stolen. I really think it was CG, even when everyone was saying it couldn't be. Besides the scan I did the other day, I dont know what else to do. I went to my other laptop and changed all the passwords to every account I could think of that I use online. For neopets, i changed passwords, pins, and emails. I use my newbie / side account on this computer, just in case that person can still access my account. If I use my main account here, I log out, go to the other laptop and change the password again. I really dont know what else to do... :/
maikrowsoft
I still feel a CG is unlikely. It's likelier someone managed to get into the Neopets database, it's happened before. Multiple times. If you're looking for a better (albeit subjective) anti-virus perhaps you could try avast! Anti-Virus? If you're paying for a Norton subscription let it finish first though, no point wasting it. Also noting that Internet Explorer 8 and above (use the latest 11!) has in-built XSS protection, which will protect against CGs :P
Pookies
That would make better sense, since the other person who used my laptop never experienced problems with her account. --> Edit: I have no clue why my accounts experienced problems with hacking and missing NPs, while the person who shared my laptop never had anything happen on hers. Thanks for the info, maikro. I dont know what internet explorer I have but a few days ago I read a chart that had protection and I think all the browsers I'm used to using have it. but I will double check soon. I tried avast on a different laptop before and I had problems with it. I cant remember what I experienced, but when I uninstalled it, I couldnt connect with wifi for months (only through a verison USB). I was thinking about downloading avast after Norton expired but I don't know :/ Just because of what experienced before. seems like I am the only one since every techy person recommends it x.x' My mom also paid for Norton protection, but the CD is from 7 years ago. o.
