caleew Posted March 11, 2014 Share Posted March 11, 2014 So basically our guild is doing really well, but every now and then we slump, and not much gets done or said, so I want to run some activities to keep everyone busy - however, I have no ideas D: have you guys got any suggestions or ideas? Dashana Posted March 11, 2014 Share Posted March 11, 2014 Ooh, I have a few ideas! :) - 1NP Auctions - Guild Awards (Most Active, Most Helpful, etc.) - Game Tournaments (Who can get the highest score on a certain game?) - Race to 250 avatars! (Or a certain number of Neodeck Cards/Stamps, etc.) - Guild Trophies! (Who has the most avatars? Who has the most stamps? Etc.) Hope these were helpful! dawnshine Posted March 11, 2014 Share Posted March 11, 2014 You can think of some activities that fall within TNT's rules, but the bottom line is people just have to have the time and motivation to be active. If people don't have time to post on the boards it may be difficult to find people that have time for activities. NF-Only Auctions My guild does the 1NP Auctions and I really enjoy it. However, if only one or two people are active more than everyone else, of course those two are going to be the only ones to take part in the activity, or win anything even if others have time to poke their heads in. In my guild there is also this thing where people who are never active in any way only get on to bid on the auctions and do their dailies and have nothing to do with the guild other than that, not even a post. It's kind of frustrating when it's a guild-building activity but not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things. If those things won't bother you, or won't apply because your guild members are active and all that jazz, I would recommend doing the auction thing. You could do something more original with this if you want to do a Trading Post activity, too. Contests (remember, no prizes though!) My guild also does "contests" (although there are no prizes or anything) to see who can score the highest in a specified game within a week. Every Monday a new game is posted and we post our high scores in the forum. It's kind of like "Better-Than-You" because we're all trying to score higher than a chosen council member each week. This can help with avatar-hunting when it comes to those pesky game score avatars. I think Neopie-styled awards are cute too. You could have your council decide to eliminate hard feelings among other members OR have the guild poll take care of it-- the only problem with that is if someone gets no votes and is overly-sensitive it may cause hard feelings. But it does make others feel like they have a say or that their opinion can be heard, too. I personally wouldn't mind if it was me who got no votes but I know not everyone is going to feel the same way about things of that nature. I do think having a monthly "guild award" or bi-monthly would be good incentive for people to get active. If only we could give "guild trophies" so people could work for them like they do games or avatars! This idea could come with a "highest recruitment number" or "most members referred" to encourage people to hit the boards/promote your guild and get new members! A customization "contest" is fun, too. My guild doesn't give out prizes for it but every few weeks the guild leader chooses a customized pet and makes our layout with said pet highlighted in it. So it's like an honorary thing when you've worked your booty off to get a pet JUUUUST how you want it. I've seen other guilds do something like this but they choose a certain item or two you use to customize your pet and then see who uses that item along with a bunch of other ones to dress their pet up the best. Pet Pages If your guild members are HTML friendly or like to get into code you could have everyone make a button for advertising in your shop/in siggies/on user lookups and vote on the top 3 or make a page highlighting them all so everyone can choose whichever one they want to put up. It's another page you can dedicate to the guild highlighting members work. This could be applied to artwork and other stuff, too. Incorporating petpages into your guild is a really great idea, IMO. You could also make a "meet the members" page where everyone submits some random info about themselves so potentials can get a feel for the individuals in the group. Petpages could also become home to a guild newspaper, a guild storyboard, a guild update page, etc. etc. The possibilities are endless. Others If someone has a lab ray zapper you could have some sort of guild adoption agency for the pets that get zapped that the owner has no intentions of trading or keeping. You could also do avatar-lending, guild BD battles (feel free to make up your own plot and divide into factions if you want to go all-out with it), your own "mystery pic", the list goes on. Anything Neopets does as far as contests go you can do yourself, as long as no prizes are involved since that is against the rules, guild medicine trades/auctions for members with sick pets, Member of the Month, petpage spotlight, trivia, etc. Of course a lot of these aren't nearly as fun as TNTs version because they are allowed to give out prizes and technically we're not.
