blaisezabini
Welcome, everybody! This is Matt reporting live from the newsroom! My co-anchor Katie is still not back - I can only imagine that her disappearance has something to do with Austin. While she's gone, I'll take over in her absence! As always, we'll keep you updated with Austin's whereabouts. As for the actual report, there's only a few days left in the Altador Cup, and competition is as heated as ever! I have the results from the Alabriss and Minitheus bracket, so let's get started! The Alabriss bracket had some very exciting matches yesterday!Long-time rivals Kreludor and Virtupets faced off yesterday. It was a very heated match! Virtupets seemed to have stuck with their old tactics, as they were able to claim Yooyuball from the Moons with a close score of five to four. The Robots were able to take Make Some Noise from the Moons as well. Amazing! Kreludor wasn't going out without a fight however, as they were able to take Slushie Slinger and Shootout Showdown from the Robots! Kreludor did very well last bracket, but they're off to a rough start this round. We'll see if they can pick themselves up and take some more wins! We also had the Maraqua Mermaids take on the Mystery Island Natives yesterday. The Natives weren't able to make waves with the Mermaids, instead getting swept away in the tide! Likewise with the match between Krawk Island and Roo Island: Roo Island was able to stop the powerhouse Krawk Island from obtaining any wins. Krawk Island had a rough fourth-round bracket, but they are currently fourth in the overall standings, so we'll see if they're able to stay there. In the Minitheus bracket, there were some intense matches! We saw two sweeps yesterday, so let's get right into the results.Meridell and Moltara went head to head yesterday, and while Meridell had a rough time in their last bracket, they seem to be off to a good start in the final round! Moltara, on the other hand, has had some bad luck, facing two powerhouse teams at the start of the final round. Moltara wasn't able to stop the Knights, as Meridell was able to cleanly sweep the Magmas. Top contender for the Cup Tyrannia faced off against powerhouse team Darigan Citadel yesterday! The Fossils were able to dominate the field like always, shutting the Minions out and taking the win in Yooyuball with a score of eleven to four. Tyrannia was also able to take the side games. Something to note however, is that the Minions were able to get a score of six in Shootout Showdown! The Minions haven't been able to pull off a six since the third bracket. Could they be regaining their momentum? As for the Fossils, they're as powerful as ever, steamrolling through teams! They only have to keep it up for a few more days, and then the Cup will be theirs! For the last matchup in the Minitheus bracket we have Haunted Woods versus Shenkuu! The Zombies were able to take the early lead in the match, but the Ninjas quickly caught up. The match was about to end in a draw, but Haunted Woods' forward, Zo Junior was able to score a last-minute goal! The Zombies were also able to take Shootout Showdown. The Ninjas weren't going to go out without a fight however. Shenkuu was able to swipe Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise from Haunted Woods. Haunted Woods is currently fourth in their bracket! We'll see if they can muster up the power to pass Meridell! Now let's turn this over to our field reporter, Johan!¡Hola! Señors y señoritas. Mi llam-Camerawoman: CUT! Austin, we have no real significant Spanish-speaking viewer base. You don't need to do this.Stop! I'm not Austin! You'll blow my cover.Ahem - Top of the mornin' to ye laddies and lasses. It be yer fav'rite host, Darren.Camerawoman: Austin! STOP! Be a professional. You look dumb right now.Your face looks dumb! You're not my real mom!Camerawoman: I'm giving you one more chance.Fine. Good morning, Neopia! This is your favorite reporter, Johan!Camerawoman: Oh, for goodne-We had a terrific day out in the Vaeolus Bracket last night. One team was able to manage a full sweep, with two others coming one game shy of one.Brightvale once again showed their inconsistency last night, as they dropped every game except Slushie Slinger. Kiko Lake once again pulled off a surprising win over the Wizards. The Kikos, while inconsistent themselves, have played fairly well this year. They've managed wins against the like of Altador, Krawk Island, Meridell, and Roo Island. If the Kikos can fix the minor problems facing the team, they could be a contender for next year's Cup.Terror Mountain once again pulled a near sweep over the Faeries. The Scary Terrors dropped their second straight Make Some Noise game, but won the rest. The Scaries, who currently reside in seventh place, will need a strong showing near the end of the Cup to outlast the competition above them and get in the top four. Terror Mountain has a great chance at pulling off one of the Cup's greatest turnarounds ever, but they'll need every bit of strength left in them to push forward. Altador took Lost Desert to the woodshed and back last night with an absolute blowout. Altador, who currently sits comfortably in second place in the Cup, will need to continue their trend of sweeping if they plan to catch up to Tyrannia. If Altador can keep their current placing, and if Tyrannia were to have a historic collapse, Altador could be know as one of the greatest teams to play. Right now, Tyrannia and Altador are two of the most dominant we've ever seen. Will the trend continue next year, or will both teams falter like their predecessors? And that's all for today's bracket. I must get on the move now. Johan is a busy man! Stay neat, Neopia! Thanks, Johan? Who's Darren? I'm so confused right now. Let's go over the matches to watch.Old rivals Darigan Citadel and Meridell will be clashing together once again! They've only played each other once before throughout this tournament, so we'll see what happens! The Minions were able to pass the Knights in their bracket, so we'll see if the Minions have enough motivation to defeat the Knights. This will definitely be a close match to watch! For our last matchup of the day we have Maraqua up against Krawk Island! These two teams are in the same situation as Brightvale and Terror Mountain were in their matchup. Maraqua swept Mystery Island, while Krawk Island was swept by Roo Island. We'll see how these two teams fare against each other. Krawk Island seems to be the better team, so we'll see what happens! That’s it for today's report! Hopefully we'll find Austin, and my co-anchor Katie will return! Stay tuned for the results on the matches to watch! This is Matt from The Daily Neopets signing off!
