Plushie Tycoon - Hints please? (Also confused about times.)

Hello everybody! This is my first time attempting Plushie Tycoon. I read the TDN guide but I'm still slightly confused on how long shipping takes, when to visit, etc.

I know that doesn't make much sense, but... do you guys have any tips on how to play? I don't plan on getting a high score or anything, just attempting to get the avatar.

Thanks everyone<3

It's a complex game!

There are several guides out there - I'd recommend reading as many as possible before starting. Getting the avatar is easy if you know how to play the game, but don't be suprised if you muck it up a couple of times in the first month! You can make enough money for the avatar in just a week, so don't be afraid to start again if it all goes wrong.

First - set the game time so that you can be on as much as possible during working hours (there is an eight hour time slot during which the game is active, nothing happens the rest of the time).

Then buy materials - enough to make 6 batches of 100. I'd recommend a variety of the ones which take 4 rolls of cloth and need accessories - i.e. draik, elephante, kougra, lutari, xweetok, yurble and zafara. Key point - wait until everything is cheap. Good tip - wait until rare gems are priced below 2,000np. If one thing is cheap - so will everything else be. Prices vary a lot - ignore the bit which says 'Prices on stuffing are cheap today - stock up' - it's pretty much rubbish.

Then you need to hire workers. The way to do this is to hire a lot of workers, with 1 manager to every 10 trainees. Then fire them all after the hour is up, when hopefully they've made most of your plushies.

Then ship them to your store, and wait for the cash to roll in. If you buy cheap, you'll easily make a profit. Just don't forget to fire your workers after the hour is up - otherwise you can quickly go bankrupt, and therefore lose the game. You'll also need to upgrade your store a bit otherwise no one will come.

I think my key tip would be to remember that all that matters is what's going on at one minute past the hour. If you hire a thousand workers at two minutes past the hour, then fire them at one minute to the next hour, you won't have to pay them, but they won't make any plushies either. It also doesn't make any difference when you hire them. If you hire your thousand workers at five minutes to the hour, by one minute past they will have made exactly the same amount of plushies as if you'd hired them 45 minutes earlier! Makes no sense, but that's how the game works :P

Once you get more money, you can start upgrading, and buying more materials at a time.

Hope this helps - Good luck!

I made a spreadsheet a while back to calculate the cost of making the different types of plushies. I'd try to only buy materials when the cost was below 3900 NP per batch of 100.

For anyone that wants to use it, I put it up at http://www.neopets.com/~Aberna_Vaashyr

Ohhh thank you guys! Before I read this I was already sinking in points, but I THINK I can make it back up now?

It makes a lot more sense why nothing was happening at certain times, that's for sure. xD

I think I'm buying materials in a not-so-smart way but I am off to use the spreadsheet!
