Help! NQII blunder

Hi :) I have a question for those of you who have played NQII..

 

I'm currently trying to complete NQII and I'm on Chapter 3 at Akthen-ka. The problem is that when I had my entrance to the city is blocked and apparently, this is because I missed a step by mistake on chapter 1. The guide I'm using says

 

#2553. The supposed opening to the ruined city of akhten-ka is blocked by a wall. How do i get past it? ~(@@) lost

Get the secret word from the hermit in the eye of meridell. ~razdaz12

 

but it doesn't say how. do i have to manually re-trace my steps across 2 chapter and back again?? In other words, do i *really* have to go from http://www.idnq-guide.com/index.php?page=maps&map=143 back to http://www.idnq-guide.com/index.php?page=maps&map=13?

 

ooor *crosses fingers* is there a simpler way that you guys know about?

I think the chapters are entirely unrelated, so far as I remember- I don't think you can go back to earlier ones. Have you spoken to the hermit in the desert?

After you've first visited Waset Village, go to the Palace of Ancient Kings and rescue Lifira. Then retrace your steps back to Waset and go and speak to her- she will give you a code. From there, go to the hermit in the upper left of the map and tell him the code. He'll give you the location of a medallion. From there, carry on going right until you start to work your way around to Akhten-ka.

 

I'm pretty sure that this is what I did and I didn't have any problems entering Akhten-ka. :)

It has been a long time since I played Neoquest II, but as far as I can remember, the Chapters are unlinked in such a manner as you are suggesting. Perhaps the city is blocked because you haven't yet done some other quest in Chapter 3 required for it. Sorry if I'm wrong, like I said it has been a long time since I last played it, but I'm pretty sure you are not going to have to go back to Meridell (that's not even possible).

^this is a big map of the lost desert, i think you were supposed to talk to lafira after you beat the kougra revenant then the hermit in the west of the desert. but anyway, all you have to do is follow the walkthrough and make sure you didn't miss anything vital in chapter 3. I actually found chapter 3 and 5 to be the most annoying of all so you're not alone :).
