lilshadowdweller
I recently had posted in a thread asking people about their allergies. Well, I went to the doctors today to find out why I have a never-ending horrible cough -- and he's certain I'm suffering from an allergy. I can't help but think it's to my lovely cat! We adopted her in June-ish, and the symptoms came around October. But would it really take me 3 months to find out I had an allergy to her? It MAY NOT BE HER. I've just never had this sort of breathing/mucus problem before and I'm trying to consider all of the newest introductions in my life - she's one of them. It could however have just randomly developed from something I've always been exposed to. Dust. Mold. Who knows? Anyway, my doctor is booking me to see a specialist so we can pin-point what's causing the allergy. I hope it's not her. Even if it was, I wouldn't get rid of her. Obviously it's not life threatening. I'd just have to wash her/comb her more and vaccume more. I couldn't put her through the turmoil of disowning her when I had originally set out to "save" her and help out the humane society. My doctor understands. It stinks in general, because it never seemed like an allergy. I don't sneeze. I don't get a rash. I just can't breathe properly. I'm always congested with this horrible hacking cough that randomly comes and sometimes takes away my voice. I thought I was just sick. Thankfully, my doctor gave me two inhalers (I'm not covered), so he spared me $102.00!!!
Saxen
I'm sorry to hear you might be allergic to her D: It's great that you're not willing to give her away cause of that though and that your doc's so nice ^^ If I was allergic to my Bunny I wouldn't get rid of her either. I hope it's just a throat thing and it'll pass :( Is there no definitive way to find out if that's the case?
lilshadowdweller
The thing is my throat doesn't even hurt! It never did. I would just randomly start spitting up mucus and losing my voice from it clogging. (I know that's gross, sorry for the details.) My doctor says that there's no way it's a cold and I everything sounds decent. He says the only thing it can be is an allergy. If it's not, I guess the specialist will let me know. At least I can still smell and taste....I just wish I didn't sound so scary when I hack!
Awesome_Paul
My mate has a similar problem. Back in May his flat mates bought a cat in, and after that h was stuck in bed for about 5 months before realizes it was the cat. Here's the problem though, due to the cat he had to move out not the cat. If you are allergic to the cat, and you move the cat out of the house, you will still be suffering. If I remember correctly, the cat hair stays everywhere and is very difficult to hoover up completely, and it won't go for like 6 months etc.
