Lady Kakata
So I'm being offered the chance to move to Canada My main issue is my pet birds. I really don't know what they need in order to fly over, so I'm contacting the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and waiting to hear back from them (since DEFRA here isn't helpful ¬_¬). But would they survive the stress of the flight over? :sad02:
Nataluna
its probably a good idea to talk to your local vet. small animals tend to get stressed very easily, not exactly sure regarding birds, but i'm sure its done. depending on the bird, you could consider contacting a club/association of breeders about transporting them, my local charter were very helpful in bringging a dog over for a family friend into Australia (but i'm not sure about Canada, a aunt bought a dog in there, but her's was under diplomatic permit so thats different) good luck with the agency, would it also possibly come under customs? thats what animals come under here. and congratulations on the move! :)

May I say I welcome you over and I really hope you enjoy Canada! :D Anyway, I know nothing surrounding the laws for your birds, however, I'm quite certain that they would be able to handle the flight over. I've had stories of smugglers who've managed to keep birds alive in horrific conditions. As I'm not vet, I would strongly recommend speaking with your vet and also looking up your bird's breed online to see how they would deal in such a situation. Expect a little stress for them, most animals tend to be stressed out by new situations. Attempt to comfort them in whichever way possible! But I believe it'll be fine!
