youngrace Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 i've recently had someone be really sweet and lend me a few things, and we became neofriends in the process. i'd really like to give him a little something for the holidays, but am not sure how to go about it without tnt interpreting it as "tipping." where exactly do they draw the line? a bit of clarification would be much appreciated. :) Quote
Alynniae Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 this isn't tipping. you are neofriends, you give gifts because you like each other, so it's not tipping :D tipping is when you give somebody something for a service, but being neofriends is no service. just in case: how long is it ago she lend you something? wait a month after the lending, to be sure they don't think you're tipping it's nice to give gifts :D People here are nice :D Quote
youngrace Posted December 15, 2011 Author Posted December 15, 2011 thanks for the answer! ^_^ just being cautious because sometimes idk with tnt and their rules. hmm, it was fairly recently...like within a week? and the items were pretty big, so i'm feeling a bit iffy. but i'm buying most of my holiday gifts now, and i'd like to buy something for them, if possible. i just wish there were better guidelines for what's tipping and what's not. :/ were there any nt editorials that addressed this? Zorse Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 I think it would be fine if you gave them the gift on Christmas. It's normal to send/receive gifts on that day, and you guys are neofriends so definitely not something unusual. If you weren't neofriends then it might look like tipping but in this situation I don't see anything wrong with it/not too obvious. Quote
Nataluna Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 i'm curious why tnt would think its a problem? i give people things all the time, e.g. if i get quest help on the neoboards i always give them something for their trouble. i consider it a thankyou for tthe time people spend to do stuff, and i would do the same if i organised a lend, didn't realise this is freezable? and i'm not really good at tipping, if i go to europe or the us i'm going to be in trouble. i understand the concept, but its not something people normally do where i am. :eh: Quote
