Reginald
I got silenced yesterday. Why? I made a new Neofriend, and said it was cool she liked to RP. She replied back "What sort of RP's do you like?" So, I said I was into anything. I got silenced because I was "talking about sexual orientation" D:< I WAS INTO ANY SORT OF RP. Okay, I'm into any sort of person too, but STILL.
Welcome Back Apathy
I got silenced yesterday. Why? I made a new Neofriend, and said it was cool she liked to RP. She replied back "What sort of RP's do you like?" So, I said I was into anything. I got silenced because I was "talking about sexual orientation" D:< I WAS INTO ANY SORT OF RP. Okay, I'm into any sort of person too, but STILL. All I can say is...TNT really has a dirty mind. You can tell from the variety of things they ban. Every time they do something like this, it doesn't prevent foul language on the site--it forces people to take what they said the wrong way. TNT is ENCOURAGING dirty thoughts. I assume you've already sent in a ticket and everything explaining what you actually said. If I was the one getting silenced for this, though, I bet my ticket would be a heck of a lot more passive aggressive than whatever you sent in. LillytheGrundo
Oh man thats stinks! Sorry to hear that... It seems there is a lot of that going around lately. I understand they are trying to protect their young users from harm, as well as themselves in case of a law suit, but if you are over age or have a parental consent form signed I think they should let well enough alone. Khalon
yeah that is pretty annoying. It's odd because TNT were originally college students working together on the site and I feel like their original aim/audience were for people of their demographic so they should have at least kept that intact by possibly partitioning the site. One half would be younger kids and the other half would be 18+ kind of thing.
SurrealSadi
Yeah, created by college kids, then sold to Viacom and Nickelodeon. That's why the crack down on EVERYTHING FUN.
arliona
I've had the same kind of thing happen to me years ago when I randomly generated a pet's name. Being a beginner in English, I didn't notice it was rather close to a swear word. I strongly encourage you to send a support ticket to point out the whole conversation. Hopefully a human will read it and see the neomail censor-robot's mistake.
Reginald
I have sent a ticket :( I'm not silenced now, but I am REALLY going to have to think about what I say. I don't think I can have THAT dirty a mind, though! I think in Neomails, anything should be allowed to be said, but, if the receiver doesn't like it, the report button is there :/
Lozzie
Honestly I think the level on which they 'warn' or 'silence' people for things is ridiculous - some of the things people are told off for! "Anything" could have meant genre-wise, but no; TNT has to assume you were meaning sexually. So does that mean, if anything we say can be "assumed" to be bad, then it's against the rules? Which leads me onto my next point - if someone says something that is "Against the rules" and is warned for that, then surely those said rules must be mentioned/made clear somewhere on the site itself? A bit of a rant on my own behalf here, but I've tried to be super good on the boards, because I know what TNT is/has been like in the past. I found out someone shares an interest in a certain anime, and on a whim replied with something along the lines of "oh, that's awesome! C: I used to have a bit of a crush on that character when I was little, haha" - within 5 minutes, all my posts were deleted and I recieved a warning, with a "rule" explaining why I was warned. Now. I looked through ALL of the rules on Neopets, and that rule in question was absolutely nowhere to be found. If I can't find it, then how am I supposed to know that's a rule?? I'm not a mind reader, nor I presume any other players on neopets are. Long story short, TNT needs to address their rules and warnings system, a LOT. I think in Neomails, anything should be allowed to be said, but, if the receiver doesn't like it, the report button is there :/ I completely agree with this, if you're talking to a user who is signed up on an 18+ account and they don't report what you're saying, why should Neopets care? :/ I find it particularly annoying when I use to be a premium member talking to other premium adult members and we'd still get inane warnings for Neopets taking things we were discussing privately in Neomail the wrong way.
