Best games to play--how long do they take?

Recommended Posts

Since yesterday was the NP ratio change day, everyone needs to know what games are good to play. TDN has a fantastic section for games. However, some of the games on there take a long time, so I'd like to know how to prioritize. How long does it take you to complete each game that you play? How many np do you get from each one? How did you do it?

I didn't put this in help because I don't really need help; I just wanted to start a discussion on it. Also, it can continue on through each np ratio change.

Rules (just so everyone's doing the same thing): Time all three games from the time you start the first game to the time you end. If the site is lagging and won't send one of your scores, don't post how long.

(I'm saying this because some games take a long time to load EACH TIME you play, or are obnoxious to end. This makes it easier to tell which ones are actually faster overall, not just per game.)

Post the time it takes for all three games and how many np you got in total. If you feel like it, you can also post the average np per second so we can see a comparison.

So here are a few of mine:

Kass Basher: 3,000 np/42 seconds

Everyone knows this one, of course--it is by far the best game as long as you have unlocked the best bat. The time can vary, though, depending on how long it takes you to get good wind. I can get 1,000 np with 7, 8, or 9 wind. If the wind doesn't start out at 6 or better, I start over; if it starts at 6 but goes down, I start over.

NP/sec: 71.4

Attack of the Marblemen: 3,000 np/1:50 (1 minute, 50 seconds)

This one should be listed on TDN for sure! You only need 64 points to get 1,000 np. Here's what I do: I got the code to level 20. (This is definitely worth it to work for, trust me.) Level 20 has two coins on the level. Grab the two coins, then restart. Grab the two coins, restart. Your last life, grab the coins and finish the level. If you do it quickly, you should have 65 or 66 points.

NP/sec: 27.3

Big Time Rush Crowd Patrol: 1,857 np/55 seconds

A lot of people avoid games where you can't get 3,000 np, but as you can see, the average np/sec is pretty good, so it's definitely worth it to play. Once you get used to it, it's really easy. When you're starting out, just find the ones that look slightly less cartoon-ish.

NP/sec: 33.8

Catch the Petpet: 1,467 np/36 sec

The resemblance between this game and Crowd Patrol is uncanny...

NP/sec: 40.8

So...these are to start. I'm hoping by the end of the week that we (as a group) can test every game on TDN's game suggestion page and have a nice rank. However, there are some games I'm terrible at--Nimmo's Pond, for example, so I'll need other people to test those ones. It might also be nice to have two different people test each game, since some of my times will be radically below what you find.

This seems to be a great idea. A list like this updated monthly would be amazing. I actually have a spreadsheet set up where I've roughly measured how long it takes to get a certain number of points in a game, and can therefore given the ratio each month estimate the np/s and thus how long it would take to get 1000np This obviously works well for games where points are earned linearly over the entire game, or the ratio doesn't change by much, but for most (as most don't fit these criteria) only gives a very rough estimate. This will be far more accurate, so will hopefully get some support behind it :)

Here are a few I've just timed. I'll probably post some more later. All were timed from the moment of pushing the start game button for the first game, to the end of sending the third score.

Maths Nightmare: 18.99 np/s (3,000np in 2:38)

Division, potato counter as I'm sure you all know. Score of 420 (which double to 840 because of the difficulty multiplier when you end the game).

Attack of the Marblemen: 46.88 np/s (3,000np in 1:04)

This was done using the level 45 code. This level has four coins, so grab these, restart the level, get 3 more and then end the game giving you the 70 points needed. (When the ratio isn't as good I use the level 95 code to get scores of up to 870 that may be needed for the 1000 np. Nowhere near as fast as this though.)

Conveyor Belt Madness: 17.75 np/s (3,000np in 2:49)

Sponsor game, score 1000.

...Well, now that I know that, I'm going to go start trying to do better on Marblemen...

Fashion Fever: 300NPs/3s (900NPs/6s)

The only game I play :D But hey, 900NP is 900NP and if you do this daily you make 328.500NPs in a year :)

Okay just joking, but this topic was actually helpful. Going to go play some games now .. or not.

I'm still playing zurroball. I can play each game in a minute but you need to get good at doing grounders in order to finish the game that quickly.

Bouncy supreme is another one if you get the hang of you can play each game in about one minute.

Wrath of the Snowager: Play on hard and keep hitting the chia until he pops out those snowball-looking things (worth the most points) and you can finish VERY quickly.

Overall, I tend to play these 3 games plus math's nightmare, nova defender, and kass basher and I can finish in about 20 minutes, depending on how many of those annoying ads you have to sit through first o_O

A few more:

Crisis Courier 9.93np/s (3,000np in 5:02)

Can get the required 1887 points by the end of level 2. Can use the code "kingaltador" for an extra life if needed.

Wheeler's Wild Ride 12.40np/s (3,000np in 4:52)

Need 334 points. Basically don't play the game as intended, but instead go down the first slop, and then just hold a nose wheelie at the bottom until time is almost up. Put the back wheel down to get the points (about 125) and then tip over the front wheel, causing you to restart the level and losing one coconut. This must be done before the time runs out, as that costs you a lot more coconuts. Repeating this three times is sufficient for the 1000np.

Wrath of the Snowager 13.57np/s (3,000np in 3:41)

Play the first level on hard until you get 100,000 points. You must then lose a life and start the level again before pressing end game and sending score, as otherwise the points are not counted.

I'm testing some of the games listed on the TDN dailies page.

Faerie Bubbles: Took about three and a half minutes for one game, which I felt was too long. HOWEVER: If you are just going for the fastest np/sec possible, something to try: Use the code "bubbles" as the first thing you do on the first level, then use "faerieland" to get a rainbow bubble. "Bubbles" turns all your bubbles the same color; then you can make them all disappear in one shot. This is 30 seconds for three games. Np/sec: 20.8 by the latter method.

Usuki Frenzy: I played only one game. It took over three minutes, and I only got 433 np for it.

Np/sec: 2.2. Not even close to worth it. If you can make it work for you, that's great, but it is a waste of time for me.

Faerie Cloud Racers: One game took three minutes and 40 seconds, which again, is too long. That's only 4.5 np/sec.

Petpet Rescue: 3:12 for one game, for only 5.2 np/sec. However, I played only until the beginning parts of level two until it was too far to get the other petpets, and I got 1394 over 3 games, which took exactly three minutes. This was 7.7 np/sec--not much better, really.

Edna's Shadow: Played the first three levels only, for 1227 total np. This took 1:45. This is 11.7 np/sec. Then I played for 1,000 np per game, and got 7.8 np/sec.

Fashion Fever: Okay, this one is kind of obvious that you should play...but anyway, including the time it took to send the score and restart the game, it took 14 seconds for three games. That's 64.3 np/sec.

Bouncy Supreme: Thanks, bataclops, for the reminder--I took it off my favorites list when the np ratio changed for the worse, and I forgot to put it back on! It's not on the TDN Dailies list, but I think it should be. Took me 2:15 for 3,000 np.

Np/sec: 22.2

I played one more for today:

Darigan Dodgeball: I got 735 np in only 45 seconds, for 16.3 np/sec. And I'm not even very good at it and had a fail game in there that I did not send.

All right, I'm going to compile a list in order now. If a game has more than one test, I'll average the two np/sec scores.

Kass Basher: 71.4

Fashion Fever: 64.3

Catch the Petpet: 40.8

Attack of the Marblemen: 37.1

Big Time Rush Crowd Patrol: 33.8

(ABOUT FIVE MINUTES: 10,224 np)

Tunnel Tumble: 30.3

Bouncy Supreme: 22.2

Maths Nightmare: 19.0

Conveyor Belt Madness: 17.8

(UNDER FIFTEEN MINUTES: 22,224)

Darigan Dodgeball: 16.3

Wrath of the Snowager: 13.6

Wheeler's Wild Ride: 10.3

Crisis Courier: 9.9

Edna's Shadow: 7.8

TOTAL: 34,959 in about 35 minutes.

If anyone wants to, you could test to see how long it actually takes you to play every single one of these games (no breaks...like I said, if you want to!) and how many np you get.

EDIT: Some borderline games for this month--if the ratios get any better next month, they will definitely be good:

Faerie Bubbles, Barf Boat, 200m Peanut Dash, Evil Fuzzles

Aaand some games that I found good but didn't time properly: Dueling Decks, Johnny English, Kookia
