Pet trading advice?

So I want to try penny trading to get my dream pet which is a UC pet (I know, I have high goals lol). I've been playing for three years and I still haven't reached my goal (350k in bank xD).. I'm starting out with some grey pets and saving up for a lab ray.

I read the pet value guide but I really don't know how to trade up with a grey pet. Which pets would be just a little bit higher in value? I want to do this step by step.

I know this isnt the guide to be really looking at, but from what I gathered, the things people look at in their criterion for a pet are:

Name

Colour

Species

Conversion status

Source: http://www.neopets.com/~for_the_swim_av , against pet trading but provided some info

Add: Battledome stats

Then, there's this guide prioritizing colour values:

http://www.neopets.com/~x__loveable

This short article mentions some stuff about valuing the name of the pet: http://www.neopets.com/ntimes/index.phtml?section=425841&week=364

This guide mentions colour values, stuff about unconverted, battledome & avatar pets: http://www.neopets.com/~flanquer

I`m not involved in pet trades so I can`t help much, but I was able to google these guides with relative ease.

Well, the values are always changing, and the important thing to remember is trading requires determination and a whole lot of patience x)

The guides Nailguard posted are really good, and even though there are always fluctuations in value, I think these guides are a good rough guide. But you'll be able to judge what a pet is "worth" as you get offers on it.

Good luck!
