Why do you care about avatars?

At first, I didn't see the appeal to collecting avatars, then on of my friends encouraged me to, and the rest is history, I like how it shows the effort I put into a game or whatever the avatar may be, instead of just getting np's I have something to show for it :)

That's a good question...I don't really know. It's just yet another goal to strive for.

I collected avatars so I could get lent MSPP, which is my second favorite avatar (my favorite is that retired Nova one from like 2005 <_<) There were a few avatars that I got because I liked them (ZDAP, Darigan Pteri, Bilge Dice 24, Evil Coconut, Meerouladen) but mostly my avatar collecting was just a means to an end :P

 

It's fun to see your collection grow though. From the hundred-odd avs you can get from clickables, then getting to about 200 from easy avatars, then to 250 from harder ones, and getting lent BGC and MSPP, it's an adventure.

 

I think the only obtainable avatars that I still really want are Black Pteri (never seen it) and NT Star (working on it)

(I gave up on all the game avatars ages ago - Escape from Meridell Castle, Dubloon Disaster, Freaky Factory...never gonna happen lol)

That's a good question with some interesting responses. I'd say:

 

1. The moment you get the one you've been working hard for is SO satisfying, as is seeing the update on your user lookup

2. I need something to spend my NP on

Cuz people luv collecting. I'm currently trying to get one of everything except the Darigan Sword of Death in my SDB right now, so my SDB is preeetty huge.

Looks good when you need to borrow an item. You pretty much say "HEY LOOK AT ME I GOT 50 TROPHIES AND 316 AVATARS GIVE THAT ITEM TO ME BEFORE THAT OTHER PERSON WITH 125 AVATARS" For example

I like avatars because they show how dedicated you can be, not that people without them are undedicated, but that you are willing to go the extra mile.

You all convinced me (sort of). When I started this board I had 80 avatars, and now I have 154. I am so easily manipulated :)
