Playing in Other Languages

I'm wondering if anyone else plays Neopets in more than one language. I play in Spanish and English and I find that the translations are quite good (and thorough) but that the censors and reporting are kind of weak. It also seems that the players are a lot younger and, sorry, noobier. Has anyone else experienced this?

Some things I have seen with my language set as Spanish:

-I recently had a girl asking to trade NP for pets in Spanish, which I reported, but nothing happened. In English, don't they freeze you ASAP for that?

-The same girl putting worthless items for auction at 100k and begging her neofriends to buy them. I unfriended her and when she started calling me rude names (I told you it was noobier--in English I'd never get called a tightwad or a fatass), TNT didn't notice at all. Maybe I am overestimating the reach of TNT but I was always certain these things would get you frozen immediately, but in Spanish, they seem to go completely unnoticed quite often.

-The worst example of this I've ever seen was a guy pretending to masturbate on one of the boards. Granted, he may have been frozen, I don't know, but I've never seen anyone TRY anything even remotely close to that in English.

What do you guys think? Do you use the site in other languages?

It makes me wonder because the translations are all quite good and they keep everything updated. I would say it's as good in Spanish as it is in English.... so where are the censors? Also Queens: all you have to do is flip the language at the bottom of the page :) give it a try!

Some of it is just funny, but its extra annoying to be so careful/paranoid about censorship in English only to see things like that in Spanish.

Wow, that's funny. I wonder why TNT didn't notice something like that. It's just in Spanish. Also isn't there "Google Translate"?

And about the guy.. that's pretty vague. I hope he did get caught. *shudders*

That's terrible for the Korean and Japanese players. Can you imagine if the English version just disappeared?

The pull down menu looks like it offers 10 languages, which is pretty impressive, but has to be a little unwieldy. I wonder if a lot of cheating/autobuying takes place in those languages because people can talk about them much more freely. The programs themselves could be detected the same way though, so I don't know.

I still see a few Japanese/Koream/Italian players though. It's not like you really need to understand everything on neopets to play it.

It's a shame none of the new content will be translated for them but at least neopets is still playable for them. (except maybe parts of plots)

Did tnt ever say why they stopped translating those languages? I'm guessing not enough players.

i play in different languages.

mostly dutch and english.

i noticed that the main language is english, some games are not available in dutch, but are playable in english

another strange thing i noticed about different languages is for example. if your pet don't want to read a book (because it is a bored one), than you can try to change your language so that he will read it.

the rules of frozing i don't know, but i think you are right that things in english are noticed quicker, simply because there are more english TNT members which can control things

Luciana-- I would guess that rather than not enough players it would be not enough programmers who speak the language, although either is definitely possible.

It's cool that you play in Dutch! I didn't know about boring books and items like that. I wonder if a pet that's scared of a petpet could change it's mind in another language. And I do know that the spelling games are a LOT easier in Spanish (which helps when I want to beat AAA) but I don't know how many games are available in English only.

It seems like there's a lot of players from Brazil--judging mostly from shop descriptions-- so I'm hoping someone shows up to weigh in on Portuguese, too :)
