fadedangel416
How do I set up filters in firefox 4 for adblock plus so that I don't see the empty space where the top ad in neopets used to be? I've looked at several sites, including adding TDN's filter list, but all of them are leaving the space there, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Sakurabelle
Try checking out Jellyneo's adblock for Firefox. I don't use firefox, but their instructions got rid of the big space for IE. I think these two filters are the ones that disable the top banner: neopets.com###ad728 neopets.com###pushdown_banner
antiaircraft
TDNers these days have no loyalty... :P The issue here is that while the big space at the top is simply an empty grey block in some site themes, it's actually part of the layout in other themes. For the sake of technical correctness and general prettiness, our filters block the ads, but don't get rid of that grey box. If you do want to get rid of the box, the correct filter to add is this one: neopets.com###ban Edit: @Sakurabelle: Just a note - the software (IE7Pro) mentioned in JN's Internet Explorer ad blocking guide (and previously in our IE ad blocking guide, before I removed it) is no longer maintained, and is now a known vector for malware attacks. You may want to stop using it. :(
fadedangel416
That did it AA, thank you! ^_^ It does look better with the full header showing, but a little more viewing area/less scrolling won out over prettiness for me. D:
antiaircraft
Fair enough. I know the feeling, being stuck with a netbook screen. xD I may consider adding a second filter list to our guides in the future, just to contain that tweak. What do you think?
fadedangel416
I think that would be a good idea. I have no idea how many people would want to remove the header space like I did, but it would be helpful to have it as an option just in case. :)
antiaircraft
All right - I've updated our Firefox ad blocking guide with the additional filter list. As always, I'll work to keep this list up to date with respect to changes in Neopets' code.
