RoboHissi
Even though it's going to be a long time before I'm ever able to afford that 10m for the "HT - Richest" avatar, I think this is going to be much more effective at getting NP out of the economy than any of the other methods they've tried, so I like the idea. What does everybody else think?
Dcoolb
Well 10 mil is a lot for an avatar that isn't that great... I also don't see the point of a NP sink, I mean they can just make NP's. I'm not even going to buy the 100,000 book because the avatar isn't that cool. That is my opinion at least.
Sakurabelle
I'm not sure what I think about it. It certainly is a good way to remove np from the economy, but not everyone cares about avatars. Also there are a ton of people for whom 10 million is only a drop in the bucket. I guess if nothing else it gives avatar hunters a reason to save up. It will be a long while before I get that second or third book. -_- I don't really understand why they're trying to create np sinks to remove np from the economy. People are going to continue playing games, restocking, buying stocks, etc. so there is always going to be a steady influx of np entering the economy. Noog
I think it's great. :) I really loved the Save the Wheels idea as well. -_- I don't really understand why they're trying to create np sinks to remove np from the economy. People are going to continue playing games, restocking, buying stocks, etc. so there is always going to be a steady influx of np entering the economy. Yes, people will continue to make neopoints no matter what but they need NP sinks like these to attempt to balance it out. If everyone had a billion neopoints, the whole site would lose its point. Syrin of Neopia
I just don't like the idea of essentially buying an avatar. I know there are a lot of avatars that require you to buy expensive items & them use them on your pet or something similar, but why add three more? I just spent a lot of NPs getting the Secret Lab Map & I was excited to be able to save up for more things. Now, here's more NPs I have to spend on one-time use, no trade items. At least if they were able to be traded (gifted, whatever the best word is), then some generous Neopians could help out the less fortunate. Instead, the richest get the avatars & the rest of us have to keep pushing to be up there with the richer ones . . . something about it just doesn't seem right to me. I will probably get them eventually, but my point still stands.
youngrace
my main gripe is that avatar collectors aren't exactly the richest lot, so this thing still isn't hitting the wealthiest players. added: the irony is that nearly all the neopoints floating around essentially come from games, yet it's difficult to get rich by just legit gaming alone. on the other hand, SSers have bots generating hundreds of millions per month. ugh. if tnt could find a way to stop SS'ing, they would alleviate a huge part of the inflation problem without needing all these ridiculous NP sinks. barkie
I like the idea I have just reached my 8 years of neopets and along the way have built 2 neohomes, donated to the money tree everyday, helped my granddaughter build her neohomes by buying 1 np items from her shop for 99000nps each . I was not collecting avatars seriously then and felt as though I was a bit less interested in savind neopoints as I had reached the highest saver level account at the bank.I splashed 11,000,000 around without a care and even gifted my neofriend a 400,000 battle weapon so I don't think all wealthy neopets players keep their wealth without helping the site. Masaryk
I'm rather impressed with this new neopoint sink. Finally, TNT made a sink that doesn't allow anyone to profit, since the books are all "no trade." I agree that the avatars are pretty ugly... but it won't stop me from collecting them.
omgitsdk
i didn't know it was a no trade item... so i bought one hoping i could resell later, but nope... ._.'' neopet sink definitely 10mils down the drain
ahtaxotep
I think it's a brilliant idea, it's creative and could be really effective. I feel like the first book is going to be cheaper than my attempts to get the Wheel of Knowledge, Coconut Shy, Double or Nothing, Kiss the Mortog and Lever of Doom avatars anyway! It's definitely cheaper than Kelp. The books will still contribute to your pet's intelligence and toward the book trophies, right? For serious book collectors they're way cheaper than some other options. The fact that they're no trade makes me feel good about buying them, the first one at least - I've been putting off the Hidden Tower avatar because I don't want to lose money on things I could get cheaper through trades and now I can get it buying an item I know I can't get anywhere else :) I'll buy the first book for sure, but I'll put off the other two - I'm not a serious avatar collector and I've hardly started on the game avatars so I may as well work on those before dedicating ridiculous amounts of NP to the books. Who knows, maybe by the time I've got most of the game avvies I'll actually have made the 10mil.!
Rachany
I think this is a really good NP sink idea. I mean, seriously! 10 mill! Even if it IS just a 'drop in a bucket' or someone, it's still a hefty portion of their np! Although some people don't collect avvies, I'd say around at least 50% of the Neopia population does. That is a HUGE amount of neopoints! Not only that, but for those who never purchased anything from the Hidden Tower, buying a book means 2 avatars! Khelddar
I really like the idea of this NP sink, You get an avatar for it so that is always a bonus. I like the fact that you can't trade the books because it stops people from selling the books cheaper than what they are selling for in the hidden tower. Other than this np sink i like the Dr.sloth stamp auctions. I doubt that i will get the 10 Mil one for a while but i will get the other 2 in the next few months when i can be bothered. Guest Yoshinho
These are good. This makes people play more games and sell things more.
xLaura
I think its a good idea, even if people do play games and all that jazz, this removes a pretty decent chunk out, and the less neopoints there are, the more bang for your buck youre going to get inflation IS getting pretty out of hand =/
