A family here in Belfast Northern Ireland had their American bulldog X Labrador X Staffordshire bull terrier "Lennox" wrongly taken from them just because it has been deemed that he's a "pit bull type" of dog, despite DNA tests proving there is not pit bull in him.

HOW CAN THEY DO THAT?!?!?!!?

I can't believe it!! I don't know what I would do if someone took Coelho my rabbit away from me, it must be the most horrible feeling to have your best friend taken away.

I will do everything I can to help. I'm signing the petition now and I'll get the word out to everyone I know. This is a shocking abomination and needs as many supporters as possible.

This sounds so much like a spam post initially. Anyway, good luck!

Please actually look at the website.

Hey, I'm a mod. I have to look at topic titles and the number of links and actual information in contains. I just said I almost flagged this as spam, except for the fact that it came from an active member :P

I looked at the webpage. Don't take me for a dummy.

Both, to be honest. You just really don't know these days.

It annoys me when people spam on here. I'm always afraid I'm gonna get a virus if I accidentally click on it.

Done a bit of research on this before posting, looking at past news reports etc.

1) This dog is a companion for a 12year old disabled girl, why would you get her a American bulldog, it doesn't exactly seem like, you would think it be a gentler/lazy dog. Plus the owner even said

Lennox's only issue is with strangers, which is when I would muzzle him.

And hoping no one takes offense, people will say anything to prevent anything bad (how many people lie on CV, applications etc).

2) No matter how many signatures it gets, nothing will happen. Like every petition, disagreement etc, there are always a few idiots, when this was taken to court, the judge may have looked at the support etc, but instead there were some idiots (hold on, calling them idiots would make idiots look bad) who sent letters soaked in petrol, or slashed officers tires.

I wish you good luck, but I won't be signing. It's been a year, almost. There is no way of telling if the dog that was taken into custody would be the same dog they got back (temperment wise, or otherwise. Obviously it would PHYSICALLY be the same dog, but other than that, there is no telling).

After all, it has spent almost a year in whatever Ireland's version of the pound looks like.

Now, I love Dogs, and Pit Bulls are one of my favorites, too. They're good dogs.

But, when there are laws in place about what kind of animal you can and can't have, it's important to listen to those laws, and Staffordshire Bull Terriers are, in fact, Pit Bull Type dogs. Whoever did the Genetic testing is bonkers.
