The Advent Calender was likely completed and put in place some while ago, whereas I get the impression that the plot is a little behind schedule in general. Which is okay, delays happen, but I would think that when the Advent Calender was animated, it was assumed that the plot would be over with by now. Failing that, as "AA" said, think of it as non-canon. I tend to view the animations on the Advent Calender as akin to christmas cards, depicting some sort of pretty festive scene, rather than some sort of "live feed" of Neopian happenings.
