Guest Trace Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 Tired of seeing this after you used TDN's article, Remove Neopets Ads, to remove the ads? Well here is my little guide to remove it. First goto http://webdesigns.ms11.net/chromeditp.html and click 'Install'. If it doesn't open and you get a message like the one below, then click 'Edit Options'. It will open the software installation allowed sites window. All you have to do is click 'Allow' then 'Close'. Then click 'Install' again. Install the extension and restart Firefox. After you restart, click 'Tools' go down to 'ChromEdit Plus' then click 'ChromEdit'. It opens the ChromEdit window. Click the tab at the top that says 'userContent.css'. Now, add #ban { display: none !important; } to the bottom of the window. DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING ELSE! Then click 'Save' then 'Restart Firefox'. Firefox will restart automatically and the next Neopets page you visit will be minus the annoying banner. Sidenote; This works with both Firefox V1.5 and V2.
Superfly Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 WOW, i will have to try that. TDN should add that to their guide
Eglath Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 sweet! i have been using an old version of ChromEdit, but I thought that the project had been abandoned, now i can get a sweet new version! *3 cheers* Infact it was because of this one extention that I had not upgraded to firefox 2.0, and now i can! ;)
Guest Trace Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 Yeah, I had to do some digging to find this one that works with V2.
Matt Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 Great find. I use Firefox for the sole perpose of the ALP. Handy.

Zac Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 YAY, i really hate the ads that fill your whole screen
Guest Merry HBK Xmas! Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 Yeah, I already knew this, but was too lazy to write a guide like you did. Congrats!
Guest Trace Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 Tipem used to have it on the guide, way back in April... I think he should add it again.
kikaown Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 What banner? When I use adblock, I don't get anything like that.
kikaown Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 No, nothing. And I'm the only person who uses Firefox in the house, so someone couldn't have blocked it for me. Occasionally I have a thin white line, maybe as wide as one line of writing here, but that is in IE
Guest Trace Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 You wouldn't happen to have a premium account would you?
Strategos Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Good job, Trace! :) Now I can reinstall AdBlock because the banner was getting annoying. :D
