Hello and welcome back to TDN’s official Altador Cup Coverage, bringing you the quickest up-to-date standings and news! The crowd has uproared in booing and several angry mobs have formed, but still, another day has passed in the second round of the cup and we here at TDN continue to be shocked at what is unfolding! Let’s go to our headlining coverage in Atlador, where we have the biggest upset today, and possibly this year. That’s right, Kiko Lake.

The Kikos stormed out today as underdogs hoping to take down the Chillers. While critics agree that this match could have gone either way, jaws have dropped since the results came out. The Kikos managed a solid win in only one game, but the game, Shootout Showdown, was the Chillers’ specialty, and they already set an Altador Cup record with this season’s undefeated streak. I have a one of the Lakers here that worked hard all day. What were your thoughts when you found out that you were playing Terror Mountain today?

“Well, we knew that we had to make a statement today, no matter the team. When we found out that it was Terror Mountain, all of us got together and decided to focus on Shootout Showdown. My friends and I are feeling great right now, because all of our work has paid off, and snapping their streak puts us in history.”

Very well said sir. Even though they didn’t win, I think that the Kikos are very satisfied with the results. In a similar but less extreme case, the Magmas avoided a sweep, but stay in last place with a win in Slushie Slinger. This was their second win in the sport, but the Mermaids don’t seem to care about the loss. The Mermaids got their second win in a row after a couple of bad losses. While the Magmas are hoping to clinch an unlikely spot in the last tier, Maraqua is in 9th place, and they have their eyes set on the first tier.

With a similar mindset as Maraqua, the Zombies of the Haunted Woods have improved greatly since the beginning of this year, when they looked like competitors for the last tier. Since then, the Zombies have fought for thrilling upsets to pull their way up to the top, and today was no different with a decisive win against the Marauders of the Lost Desert. The only game the Zombies didn't clinch was Shootout Showdown where they drew. The Marauders dropped down into third place while the Zombies haven’t let down their guard since their draw against the Minions eight days ago, solidifying them as an elite contender.

Passing up the Marauders and taking hold of second place are the Minions of Darigan Citadel, who pulled a sweep against mid-fourth tier contender Faerieland. The last time these teams met, the Faeries managed a couple of draws, which gave them a good image when the difficulty of the opposing was taken into consideration. One particular slushie slinging Minion commented, “We let our guard down last time, and we’ve become famous for doing that. We were told that if we let down our guard again that we would be thrown in the dungeons by Lord Darigan himself.” Strange methods indeed, but that doesn’t hold the Minions back at all.

Standing in every team’s way is the Moons of Kreludor, who performed to expectations against the team who rocks the side games, the Fossils. The Moons managed wins in Yooyuball and Make Some Noise, with expected losses in Slushie Slinger and Shootout Showdown. While we have a fairly decent idea of the Moons destiny in the cup, the Fossils can still fall or rise in an unsteady 3rd tier battle for dominance with two side game legends and two Yooyuball powerhouses.

In a very close battle to stay out of the fourth tier by the time the finals come around, the Wizards of Brightvale were able to take a win from the Natives who have been very inconsistent. The Wizards won Yooyuball as well as their normal specialty, Slushie Slinger. The Natives stay slightly behind with the loss, but they can’t sell themselves short. The Natives have shown their best and their worst this year, and there is no telling if they will stay put or stir up the standings.

In a similar situation, the Roos and the Knights met today to push each other out of the way. Both teams have tasted the top four, and they are both very capable. The clear better team wasn’t decided today though, as the Knights and Roos drew, with wins in Make Some Noise and Shootout Showdown respectively. The Roos get to keep their spot though, so they can breathe a sigh of relief for now.

With expectations surpassing their actual performances this year, the Ninjas found themselves with a good win against the Suns to boost their standing points. The only flaw in the Ninjas’ plan was Shootout Showdown, where the Suns managed a draw. Despite the Suns’ decent lead over Moltara, they are still in the consolation tier after a difficult schedule. As for the Ninjas, they are still struggling to get into Tier two, while Maraqua is standing in their way.

The last match today occurred between the Pirates and the Robots. With both of these teams creeping up into the top of the standings, they both tried their best but the Robots came out on top with wins in Make Some Noise and Shootout Showdown and a draw in Yooyuball. Even though the Pirates lost, they still managed to keep a lead on the Robots in the standings in the top of the second tier.

That does it for today’s action! We can expect some heated matchups tomorrow, such as the Mermaids trying to make their way out of the third tier against the Zombies, the Suns trying to get into one of the final tier positions against the Faeries, and the Marauders trying to get back up after a devastating loss to the Zombies against the Chillers. With many more matches unraveling as we speak, this is Link signing off. Stick with TDN again tomorrow to see even more analysis and eye witness reporting.

Well, at least we keep our winning record for YYB and SOSD(except for the lost againts VP in YYB and SOSD in TM). Wow, congrats KL! You've break the winning record of TM in SOSD!

Woo, we get VP today after a break. This should be interesting and I hope we can pull what we did to MQ after they beat us in the first round too.

And wow, aside from the first day this is the biggest upset day this year. :P

When will we definatley have no chance of losing 1st tier? Dx

Isn't that an older picture of Kiko Lake? I don't think the Island Kiko plays anymore. Holbie, the blue one, is MIA.

Anyway, grats Kiko Lake on the streak snap. Wish KI beat VP in YYB though since RI drew MD...

Hm, is Maraqua boxed out of the finals yet? I keep looking over my shoulder in fear they'll sneak up and grab our spot. Dx

Ha, that RI vs MD match was the most interesting of the day in my opinion. I was hoping for one to pull ahead, preferably MD, and temporarily grab 4th, but looks like RI will be joining us this year in the finals.

And now MD barely has a chance. VP, DC, LD, and KD. Gonna be a rough week for them. =/

Aw, thank-you HW. When we win the AC we'll be sure to send all of your members a nice slushie from the prize shop. :P

And yeah, I like predictions too. Proving them dead wrong is also a favourite thing to do for me. ;)
