Another twenty-four heated hours of tournament play, and things don't seem quite as clear cut as we might have expected. Nevertheless, some of the usual powerhouses are certainly starting to perform to spec, and a couple of our plucky underdogs definitely aren't giving up any time soon. Our on-field reporter for today, Alberto, has more directly from the Colosseum. Alberto, over to you.

"The third day of the Altador Cup has come to pass, and the results promise only more utter chaos! No clear standings can be determined this early, though some are noticeable patterns - or lack of them. As I paced the stands in between a match, I spoke with a Techo decked out in full Virtupets fan gear. I asked him what he thought of the past day's matches, and he admitted, "At first I thought the Cup was rigged, especially with the Winner's Curse and how the second place team takes the Cup the next year. However, these past few days of the AC V have changed my mind completely! I don't think anyone will forget the madness that has happened!"

There were three sweeps today, with Maraqua over Altador, Lost Desert over Shenkuu, and Kreludor over Roo Island. All the teams that were swept, however, have showed promise these last few days, and may rise up over time.

Today's match-up between Neopia's two royal kingdoms was highly anticipated, and was completely sold out. Many wondered if Brightvale could continue their winning streak, and others questioned if Meridell could prove that they are a comeback team this Cup. Unfortunately for the Scholars, the Knights beat them in Yooyuball, Make Some Noise, and in Shootout Showdown. However, Team Brightvale stole the Slushie Slinger game from Meridell, the only loss of the entire day. I managed to catch Brightvale captain, 'Squeaky' Tressif as he stormed into the locker room. When I asked him what he thought of today's match, he mumbled something like, "Hagan will see no end to this... I can't believe what just happened." and then walked into the changing rooms. Clearly, Team Brightvale may not be as good as we thought... or maybe Meridell is making a comeback. Which one is it?

The next matchup took place between the winners of the first two Cups, Darigan Citadel and the Haunted Woods. Darigan, who were swept on the opening day by Brightvale, showed some signs of recovery today as they beat Haunted Woods in both YYB and SS, though they drew in MSN and SoSD. Are Darigan or the Haunted Woods getting stronger? Or will they both battle it out in the 3rd tier? We'll have to wait and see.

Yet another match that confused some Neopians was the duel between Virtupets and Mystery Island. Virtupets managed a win in all the games except for MSN, where they drew with the Tikis. This is, I believe, a sign of Virtupets' rising strength.

Krawk Island conceded Slushie Slinger to Kiko Lake today, a game that seems to be Krawk's weakness. However, the pirates plundered wins in all 3 other games.

Moltara faced off with Terror Mountain today as well, and continued their disappointing game record, losing everything with the exception of a draw in Slushie Slinger with the Chillers.

And last up for our round-up, teams- *BZZT!* *CRRR!*"

We seem to have lost Alberto's signal*, sorry about that. Let me just pull up the match report... ah yes, the pitched battle between the Faeries and the Fossils brought about quite a stunner. Team Faerieland put on a spectacular display in both Yooyuball and Slushie Slinger, drawing even with the Tyrannians in both games! Yes, that's right, the Faeries managed to play on par with the Fossils in Tyrannia's very own Slushie Slinger, pouring and flinging their way to a draw! Despite losing the remaining side games (and the match overall), the Faeries are certainly shaping up to be a contender worth watching.

As for tomorrow's interesting matches: Team Virtupets, who have been surprisingly successful so far, test their mettle against top-ranking, totally undefeated Team Kreludor. Two teams from orbit, trained in low-gravity environments, ready to rumble - while the result of this match-up hasn't been particularly ambiguous in the past, we just might see a new spin on things this time round.

Of course, we're not missing the battle between the Mummies and the Pirates. Team Lost Desert is going strong this year, but the Krawk Islanders aren't about to pack up and leave just because they're up against a tough opponent.

Elsewhere, the old arch rivals from Meridell and the Citadel cross for the first time this season. Darigan's picked up the pace since Brightvale got the jump on them during day one, but Meridell seems to be in good form this year, so this is a match even the most audacious analysts hesitate to call.

The fifth Altador Cup sure has all of us on our toes! Good luck people! This is AA, reporting for The Daily Neopets, signing off.

*The Colosseum has been hit by quite a storm of interference (possibly due to some solar flares), which has been playing havoc with our broadcast systems for the last couple of hours. There are still a few residual bursts hanging around. We apologise for the inconvenience this is causing.

I will be the first to admit that Slushie Slinger is definitely not my favorite game in the cup. While I still play it, I definitely don't play it as much as the other games. But I'm happy with the results. This first few days are turning out to be very interesting to say the least.

Good luck with those solar flares, guys.

Uhh... This is... dissapointing. I'm guessing our rise to the cup will not launch for a while.

But I'm confident that we will own. Just give us some time to heat up!

I knew the Mummies will win (though I'm a Ninja supporter).. The Ninjas are known as slow starters during the previous AC..

Congrats to the Faeries! The Fossils was truly shock with that outcome!

PS: Tikis = Natives

It's going to be a tough one against our Maraquan rivals, but I'm sure we'll sure them our mental game.

Your Bori in YYB reminds me of when I used to play basketball. He doesn't give you an inch. :laughingsmiley:

Well I can't say I was expecting anything in our match against KI, but we did alright with the SS win I suppose..

Up against Tyrannia today, again no easy feat. But I suppose, so far, none of our opponents have exactly been easy :|

Good luck again to everyone today! Oh... Except Tyrannia. (Just kidding ^_^ ).

Hoo, I was worried that Shenkuu would get us out of our sweeps. Good game guys. Today I'm up against my sister team, haha.

Congrats to the four YYB undefeated teams so far!

By tomorrow there will only be three. We're working together with our spanish boards to take MD down. ;)

MQ sweeped. Yay!

I sure do hope we win against TM. But I don't mind if we don't, because the sour taste of tap water (us maraquans know what I'm talking about) seemed to get a lot of people in the game yesterday!

PS: If anyone is wondering why our reports are so late, it's because TDN keeps going down at report time, presumably because of the amount of people is too much for the servers. But that's just my theory.
