Disclaimer: This news report was written to inform you all of the latest Altador Cup results in as entertaining a manner as possible. The rest of its content is largely fictional, composed from various fan comments and the whims of our imagination in an attempt to inspire a sense of realism through our reporting. While we do our best to keep things reasonably neutral, this report is in no way intended to be a completely bias-free listing of the day's results, nor does it claim to provide critical analysis of past and potential outcomes from qualified Altador Cup experts. Please note that the opinions formulated in this report are from a full team of different reporters, and in no way represent the views of only a single faction. If you're looking for 100% unbiased performance data, take a look at our standings page. If professional analysis tickles your fancy, you want our predictions pages (global/daily).

If day one's results were a fountain of chaos spurting in the face of the established order of the Altador Cup, well, the past day's results were the aforementioned established order cursing loudly and calling in a plumber. Things are looking a little more stable after all that turmoil, and the usual powerhouses seem to be picking up their game. That said, the day wasn't completely free of surprises, and 'boring' is far from an accurate description of how this year's tournament is shaping up.

One of the more interesting teams this year is the squad from Brightvale. In the three years in which they've played for the cup, they haven't exactly impressed, but yesterday they achieved their second clean sweep in a row, beating Team Kiko Lake across the board. Only the day before, they dumbfounded analysts when they caught the Darigan Citadel completely by surprise with their first clean sweep. While they have yet to face off against a true powerhouse-level opponent in top form, considering that the Kikos managed to outmatch Team Shenkuu in Yooyuball in their first game, it's certainly plausible that Brightvale's far stronger than anyone suspected.

"While we are very happy with our achievements in this tournament so far," remarked 'Squeaky' Tressif, captain of Team Brightvale, "we will not fail to keep our guard up. An intelligent strategy and consistent gameplay are undeniable dependencies for victory, and we will maintain these attributes for as long as is physically possible."

'Poke' Cellers, captain of the vanquished Kiko Lakers, had a brief and to-the-point message for his supporters. "We lost. It happens. Now let's get back in the game."

Further up the table, Team Kreludor (ranked 4th in last year's tourney) crossed paths with the Krawk Island Pirates (the defending champions). It's clear that either the dreaded Curse of the Cup has locked its claws around the Krawk Islanders, or Team Kreludor's assassin skills have improved drastically (or both), as the Pirates soundly lost every game in the match. We were unable to get a comment from Kreludor's squad, as they managed to slip past the press line before any reporters could fire off their questions, but Krawk Island forward and ex-captain 'Dasher' Soley had an intriguing theory as to the reason behind his team's sliding performance.

"Arr, the boys won't be slippin' this one past me! They be playin' all soft since they thinks they can fool me in 'ter stayin', the lily-livered scallywags! Aye, they'll be pickin' up their game soon enough."

Elsewhere on the field, the Shenkuu Ninjas had an interesting day against the Haunted Woods Zombies, drawing across the board with the sole exception of Make Some Noise, where the Zombies edged ahead. The Ninjas aren't playing as well as was expected of them this year, but whether or not this is just their usual inconsistency remains to be seen.

After their surprise loss against Team Brightvale, Darigan Citadel's squad certainly fired up their game quickly in their match against Moltara, winning every game but Slushie Slinger, which was drawn. The Moltarans remain optimistic however, and any Altador Cup analyst worth half his paycheck knows that writing off underdog teams is a sure fire way to earn yourself a resounding defeat.

And as for the remaining results: the Lost Desert Mummies secured a firm victory against the Maraquans, Team Altador lost their match against Virtupets, Mystery Island trounced Tyrannia in Yooyuball (although the hardy Fossils hit back with victories in all the side games), Terror Mountain was defeated after a hard day against the Roos, and Team Faerieland pulled even in Slushie Slinger against Meridell, despite losing the match overall.

Well, it certainly looks like AC V has plenty more in store for us! Many analysts are keeping an especially close eye on today's match between Shenkuu and the Lost Desert, in what can probably be classified as the first real test for the much vaunted champions-to-be. Team Brightvale, still going strong with their newfound successes tucked firmly under their belts, are contending with their neighbours from Team Meridell, who have yet to show any concrete signs of weakness this year either. And last, but definitely not least, the Faeries' new focus on Slushie Slinger pits them against the established champions of the game, Team Tyrannia, in what will probably be a very sticky battle.

That's all for today's report. This is AA, reporting for The Daily Neopets from Altador, signing off. Best of luck!

Er, BV has yet to face a true powerhouse? o.o

Put it this way: the Citadel was still warming up on day one. ;) I'll amend the report to reflect that a bit better.

AA, the picture has the ACIV SS picture.

Someone needs to write the predictions for today too...

Gee, I'm worrying about MQ...

But we have against Altador today. :D Which means that we could win. Might. Maybe. Could. Bang.

There's no similarly-sized AC V replacement that I've been able to locate. :P

Thank-you. :)

I'm really getting worried about this though. I'm scared to check the results just because of how even every team seems to have become. At midnight last night, I actually told my team-mates not to say the results, just tell me if it's good or bad so I can brace myself. Dx

It's only the second day. There's still plenty of time before all of the groups really separate themselves. We'll see where the challenges will really lie soon enough.

I still have plenty of faith in the Pirates. The curse shall be broken!

Have you been reading the KLASSY forums? Because those are very similar to what half the people said when we lost. But truthfully? What can we do when we lose? Nothing. So we must return to the game, set ourselves new targets and hope to beat them.

Good luck in all your matches today everyone! :)

Err... at least it was better than yesterday. We might be off to a rough start, but watch out: we are going to be sweeping sooner or later!

P.S I'm still in school until June 10th. That's why my gaming results aren't showing off yet.

Interesting... might I ask what weights you used for your ranking system? The results seem quite different to those generated by our algorithm on the standings page.
