Because mine is a level 8 and he has the same hp as he did at level 1! When training your pet, you can only train things like strength and endurance (hit points) to twice your pet's level. After that, you have to up your pet's level to train those stats any higher. It's somewhat more complicated than that (Endurance can actually be trained to 3x your pet's level), but it's too much to explain in one post.
