musicsquared
I get that it's helping to pay for Neopets or whatever. Maybe it's because of my situation--money is tight right now. But I can't be the only one who thinks Neocash is expensive. All of that comes to 1075 NC. Which is $10.75. (Carry the decimal over two places and you see what you're really paying.) I don't know. Maybe it's just me. But I don't think I'd spend $10 to dress my Koi over myself. xD What do you guys think? Is it worth it? How much would you be willing to spend, if any amount at all? FutureTXTurkey
I didn't really use to have a problem with how much it cost, but recently the ticket prices for the site events have gotten ridiculous and I'm not very happy about that. I mean it is a luxury item, your pet doesn't need those things, so of course it is something that is going to be over inflated, but in general I agree with you. I would buy a lot more NC mall items if they were about half the price.
Jenny ^_^
I've been on neopets forever and I've taken many years off before. One day I know I just won't come back. So to me, paying for something virtual like this is a huge waste. Years from now you might not play neopets anymore, or *hopefully not* Neopets might not even be around. Yes the stuff is really awesome, but I just can't justify spending money on something like that. Free NC is awesome though :P I'm a bit of a hypocrite though because I do have neopets premium. I look at it as a service that I enjoy rather than an expensive dress-up. It's such a thin line o_O
cliffnotes
I'm of the opinion that if they needed money, they should have improved the features of their premium program. Expecting people to pay 2 dollars for a background, or 9 dollars just to participate in part of a new event is pretty ridiculous. Let's not forget that the nc mall also came with the heavy price of destroying neopet art to make clothes one-size-fits-all. The only NC item I'd ever get is the neoboard pen, and I'd only get it with free nc.
tempdisplay
I was a fool to buy, only to have my account frozen. At least I wasn't on premium. And if you come to think of it, it IS expensive and the the items themselves are expensive as well. I am NEVER EVER putting money into that site after what they did to me. It's horrible. musicsquared
I would get Neopets Premium, actually. Like Jenny said, I know for a fact that I won't be on Neopets forever. In a couple of months, I'll latch onto some other site and eventually come back to Neo when that one gets boring. Neggstravaganza Surprise 20-Negg Basket Pack 1, 700 NC = $17.00 That's a lot to pay for a site event. Bluerang- I'm sorry you had your account frozen ): TNT can be so unfair. Masaryk
I do find Neocash items to be a lot on the pricey side. I've only ever bought one Neocash card, so that my husband could get a gift box to send me something he bought me with free NC he had. Now he has 10$ sitting on his account that he almost never touches. Every few months, I get a vague urge to buy another 10$ card, but I haven't yet. Maybe someday, but I can think of lots of things I'd rather spend money on than virtual items.
nelle
When I'm at the NC mall I always think about how much the pixels cost in real money.. but I guess I never thought about the fact that it's just pixels and I don't get to keep the 'object' if something happened to my account or to neopets... Although...for me, I think it's a good thing. I tend to collect - so collecting things that don't take up any space is a good thing ^_^ !
idriya
However, you get 20 items from that one ticket. That's approximately 85 NC (or 85 cents) for each item, which actually is a pretty good deal. Eh. Some of the stuff IS kinda pricey, but honestly, I don't think there would be THAT much more people buying NC even if it was cheaper. Let's face it, the general idea of buying something that isn't real is a very unattractive one, especially in these tough, economic times and especially since we all remember a time when Neo and pretty much all sites like it were either entirely free or pay-to-play. :/
Viridian
For me, some background are worth it. I mainly use free NC from events like the daily dare to buy NC stuff, though :) But yes, I do think so!

Honestly a site event bundle like that should cost 5 bucks, tops. If they left the other prices alone, people would flock in to get "cheep" NC items. I do find this amusing, too bad it's 50 bucks xD
idriya
Who cares if it's random? Most of the stuff in there is going to be stuff that would normally be 150 - 200 NC in the NC Mall anyway. Fine, there will probably be a food item or two or something, but the rest of the stuff should make up for the garbage. That's how it was with the Stocking Stufftacular, I don't see it being any different from this. Besides, if you don't like an item, you could just trade it for something else. And you don't know that. Like I said, people hate spending money on anything that isn't a real, tangible item in general, so the way I see it, there would not be that much of a difference between who buys it and who doesn't. They wouldn't be making anything if the tickets were $5.00 a ticket. And if the NC Mall was eliminated, we can either say hello to pay-to-play or kiss Neo good-bye, because those are the only two other options. Ranluka
1. 150-200 is just as ridiculous! 2. Becausseee not all wearables are awesome. You're gambling with the idea that you will like what you get as much as you would like something you picked out yourself. 3. Since when can you trade NC Items? -has some crappy randomly awarded capsule items she's like to trade- 4. Sure they would! Items arn't sold individualy, they're sold in 5, 10 or 20 dollar cards. The majority of people who currently spend would spend about the same (some people spend ridiculous amounts, did you see the tiara someone made out of the cards?), and people who are cheap like me would be more inclined to pick up a $5/$10 card. They would just get more of the items. (which doesn't hurt neo in the slightest since the items once designed cost ziltch) Expecially kids with allowance, if their blowing their 10 bucks a week on it now, they still will, they will just get more bang for their buck. idriya
1. That's your opinion 2. Like I said, if you don't like an item, just trade. Since it probably won't ever be released again, you should be able to get SOMETHING decent from it. 3. What do you think the gift boxes are for? o.O 4. Oooh, now I see what you're saying. xD Lower the prices of the items, but keep the cards the same? No, that wouldn't work either, because people wouldn't be buying cards as much. Why splurge on a ton of cards when everything is less than 100 NC? That's just stupid. :/ People would just buy one NC card at a time until the entirety of that one is almost or entirely used up, then buy another one, not buy a ton of them at once, like they do now. Domino
First of all, I did buy NC. Yes, I am a little bit embarassed by that. :guiltysmiley: There's really not much that you can get with one card...and I found that pretty disappointing. I mean, I'm saving all of it, trying to wait for something that I really want. I think I've bought...1 Neoboard pen. And that's it. I mean, I don't think I would buy it again, but I've definetly considered getting premium multiple times.
Ranluka
Theres a pretty wide selection of items. Talking to people who actually buy the stuff, the limiting factor is how much they are willing to spend , not how many items are available to buy. "I promised myself only one $10 gift card per week!" As for us cheepskates, well I've been know to waste money on this sorta thing -cough gaia-. And on a regular basis, but that was at a 5 bucks a month budget for two items. Both of which were only available for one month, you knew what they were and where fully tradeable to others. And the items where always GOOD items. You got a choice of two and each one could be worn multiple ways. Neopets on the other hand seems to have an event almost every month, and each time it's 17 bucks, 20 bucks, ect. The items make me go "meh", can only be worn in one fashion and can't be sold to other players. Even with a gift box it's against TOS to do anything but gift them. Frankly, I'm just not fealing the motivation to drop the cash.
Naeuigeudae
IMO I think neocash is a bit expensive.. You should get a thousand neocash for a dollar. I must confess that I have spent quite a lot of money at the NC Mall. What I think is unfair is that you have to find a store that sells neocash cards just to get a gift box to be able to gift the items or gift them to a side account. I think that's going too far. Some people don't live near stores that sell them and it shouldn't be such a hassle anyways.
IrishLiz
I won't buy neocash, but I've considered premium, if only for the shop wizard. I'm getting tired of bans. My problem is the same as others here... I've been on neopets for years (my first account was deleted) and play on and off. I also don't like paying for something virtual. I think they might get more money for it if you could pay online through paypal rather than buying cards... that way, it would be like any other store, and when someone saw something they wanted, they could just buy it then at there. Though I guess they get more money with giftcards - there's almost always some money left over from those that you don't spend.
Spritzie
I've bought NeoCash. Rarely though. I love a lot of the items, but I only get NC when there's something I really, really want. I don't think it's that expensive, though it depends. The items I like, are backgrounds and wings for the most part. Except for the DD 10-pack, I've only bought enough to get a background, or wings. Otherwise, I use the NC I win. And I always purchase mine online. I live across the street from a store that sells the NC cards, but I've never bought one. I didn't realize they did anything different other than a bonus item.
CAV of Gang Green
You shouldn't even be having to pay at all! Viacom doesn't deserve even a cent of our money. The way Neopets is run, the bad shows on Nick, and they're sueing Youtube. They don't deserve our money, so I don't buy NC. I get my stuff via NP. Even still, it's too expencive. Divya Bean
I wont buy neocash, because I think, what is the point? I mean, you can get some really nice wearables, but they dont impress people because they know you just bought them with REAL money, you didnt earn them by painstakingly earning neopoints! Besides, what will you get out of spending your money on neocash in the long run of life? Nothing! Even though neocash things are pretty and irresistable... If you're suggesting NC shouldn't exist at all, you're wrong. Ad-blockers crush any potential profit ads would normally generate, and, well, a very large percentage of users (dunno about the majority, though) have an ad-blocker. I'd say around 1-2% of the community has Premium. Not nearly enough. :/ Most merchandise is retired Not everyone can play sponser games, and they don't get that much plays anyway. The way I see it, it's either NC or pay-to-play. Although I have seen people that would jump for joy at Neo going pay-to-play, it would probably fail, since apparently, paying the evil, corrupt, money-grubbing corporation is big no-no. Besides, what will you get out of spending your money on neocash in the long run of life? Nothing! What will we get out of spending our money on video games and movies in the long run of life? CAV of Gang Green
What will we get out of spending our money on video games and movies in the long run of life? Everything. ;) Fixed. Note you are talking to TDN's Video Game Addict, so listing Video Games was a HUGE mistake. On topic: At least they have entertainment. And not everyone buys that. There's something called, FOOD, WATER, SHELTER, CLOTHING. Would you rather have that, or some pretty virtual items that mean nothing. That's most likely what Divy meant when she posted. lovedwallflower
i think its expensive because its not free. i am not saying it shouldnt be there, but personally, because i am a student and therefore poor (:P) it just doesnt make sense to waste money on virtual items..
