Rate my ugly set

What program are you using? It kind of seems something done in like paint, since of the lack of blending. Icon I find rather cute. :] <3 Sig, the background image of the sleigh is a bit too stretched out width wise and a bit on the pixilated side of things and then a background color in the text too, a bit on the odd side. Meepit looks great in quality in comparison to the sleigh. So I think I give the sig a 3/10? I do like the concept you were going with, but it's pixilated. :\ But the icon is super cute, so that gets 9/10. :]

Well I'm not really qualified to remark on the graphics aspect of the signature, but I have to say I quite like the concept. It reminds me of a fun little topic we had waaay back in the day (link) - almost two years ago in fact.

It's adorable, because it's made in paint. But as far as real graphics go it's not too good, I'm sorry. But it reminds me of the things I used to make before I started to use Photoshop =).

Just find a program (like Photoshop) and search the web for some tutorials (livejournal is a good place to look around). You'll get better, just keep making graphics and you'll improve for sure :) (as long as you stop using paint)

It's great to begin trying to make your own images. I admit I am a bit of an graphic-addict, I love to make ALL my own graphics either with using already existing images (ex my avatar is the meepit from neopets and I just made it my own) or with all my own images.

The graphics engine or program that I would suggest because of it's very easy to use point and click is Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8. Search on google for that with a comma and cnet and you should be able to find it no problem. 8 is the best IMO for being new to graphics. I have used it for years and still do because I just love the lay of the program.

By the way, not bad on the siggie. When you use a more graphics oriented program you will love the difference it makes, you images will be great with your idea of what you wanted and it will also be able to scale or crop size for you the sleigh so it doesn't look pixelated. The colors are a little plain but you can definitely play with that. Good job!! I wouldn't want to rate your try harshly but lets say on a beginners scale your 6/10 ;)

than you, and Chanizilla, is that program free? I can't spend any money.

Yes technically it is, since the program can't authorize itself anymore (was bought out by corel and is no longer requiring authorization for use and no longer being produced) you never have to worry about the trial time on it. It never expires, I downloaded it from that site to my new laptop and still have yet to hear a peep about the trial time ending 5 months ago. And my old laptop that I stopped using in February it had almost two years of using that program without ever needing to authorize the program either. :)

I really like the idea of the siggy^^ though the image in the siggy is a bit streched. I use Gimp for my graphics, is free and very similar to photoshop, I strongly recommend it^^ ^_^

The GIMP does indeed kick butt - I'd personally say it's among the best raster image editors out there, and on top of that it's FOSS!

You can look it up at the GIMP website.

You could always try nuking some programs you never use, or digging up some unimportant files and compressing them or transferring them somewhere else or whatever.

Can't be any older than mine. :P But we're getting off topic.

*ahem* Looking at it again, your set really does remind me of that old evil Christmas carols topic.

I see that you've gotten quite a few tips as to which programs to use etc :D Looking forward to seeing what other sets you create using these!

Perhaps you should not save your files as .jpg/.gif in MS paint as the quality gets completely ruined. Of course, when using better programs, it's not so much of an issue. Instead of stretching the image to fit the siggy size, try to resize it evenly (the programs suggested should be able to help you with that easily) and perhaps use some brushes and fancy text to spice your set up :D.

Sorry if I'm naggy but it's always great to see people delving into graphics! =D
