Unstream
So with the upgrade to iTunes 9, you basically can't do anything with the older versions of iTunes. I have iTunes 7. So I'm trying to install it, but every time it tells me that I have to find a path to the installation package called 'iTunes.msi'. And so I find it and move it to an easy place to find (I used the desktop), but then it tells me that that package isn't a valid one. And then it says, "Try to find the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in a folder from which you can install iTunes." And so, having given up, I click cancel, and it tells me that the older version of iTunes can't be removed. I'm kinda wary about removing it via control panel, because I'm not sure what it's gonna do with all of my music. You'd think I'd have files for them all, but I have no idea where they are. iTunes just hides them somewhere on my computer. I'm kinda lost here. Anyone have any advice? antiaircraft
In theory (unless something goes catastrophically wrong) iTunes shouldn't to anything to your music when it's being removed, since the program and the data it works on are completely separate things. If you do want to make a backup of your music however, you can determine the iTunes library folder location from the 'Advanced' tab under Edit > Preferences (within iTunes of course). Also, by the looks of it you probably shouldn't have moved iTunes.msi before telling the installer the path. ;)
