How can I get the Turmaculus to eat my petpet?

I've been visiting the Turmaculus for what seems like years, but my petpet never gets eaten (so I can get the avatar!). I use this guide to get an idea of when he might be awake: http://www.neopets.com/~picovamde

But still he only ever wakes up to give me a gift, or does nothing.

I heard that if you hit him, you're more likely to get your pet eaten. Is that true?

My petpet was eaten on the first time i visited him. I dont really remember what I chose. I dunno if that even matters, or its like symol hole where it doesnt matter what you pick. I was so upset, I loved that little petpet :( ... but I got the avie, so I guess I was compensated.. *sniffle*

I've been trying for a long time to no success as well. I can't confirm the hitting rumor, but I can say that you should keep trying anytime you can and hope that someday you get lucky. Good luck. :)

I'm still waiting on this one too, so I don't have any real advice for you. However, the Turmaculus times petpage suggests that many people get the avatar with an Abominable Snowball (likely because it's cheap) and by dumping cold water on Turmy. I guess that might lend some amount of credibility to the "being mean/violent when waking Turmy increases your chances of getting the avatar" theory. Then again, maybe it's coincidence.

I dont know that thats true.. I dont think the petpet matters at all .. i had a cheerlub (spelling? :P hes a fish..) .. and i think i might have sang to him ... i really think its just plain random! :P

The party line is that it's 100% random as to what action results in what consequence. I have also been trying to get this avatar for far too long. I bought a really cheap Petpet for my secondary Neopet, and I'm currently wondering if that may be holding me back... maybe the more expensive the pet, the more likely it is to be eaten?

I got the avatar with a newly attached Tencals (around 400np?)

 

In my opinion, I think it is totally random. I don't know how long I've been trying for this avatar, but TDN's Turmaculus topic has really helped me whenever someone bumps it. ;)

Sadly, Turmy hasn't ate my petpet yet, but I've been using my Floud, and the Dump Cold Water on him method

I suppose it depends with everybody, as it's a completely random avatar to my understanding.
