Alot of you prob. have not heard of the monkey island series, I played it WAAAAAAAAY back when I was a kid, my favourite being 'Curse of Monkey Island'(CMI) of course! :) Though with the remake of the first one CMI is in a run for its money!

Anyways I'm just super excited that after a 9 year hiatus they've finally released another game in the series! I got the new one yesterday (part 1 of 5) and beat it in 3-4 hrs! lol. Now to wait for the next part to be released.... *twiddles thumbs*

If anyone has played this game (if you havent you must go do so now.).. then stay and chat! :)

So a little more about it.... its basically an episodic adventure game, where each game build on the tales of the last!

Setting - Each game take place in the caribbean (on a ficticious island - Melee island, scabb island, phatt island, plunder island, monkey island, etc.)

The Games - (summaries done with help of wikipedia as Im aweful at summarazing :P)

1) The secret of monkey Island

The game starts off with the main character Guybrush Threepwood on a quest to become a pirate To do so, he must prove himself to three old pirate captains via a set of three pirate trials (swashbuckling, stealing, treasure hunting). During the theft trial he meets the beautiful governor Elaine Marley, with whom he falls in love. However the evil ghost pirate LeChuck also has his eyes on her. When Elaine is kidnapped, Guybrush procures crew and ship to track LeChuck down, defeat him and rescue his love.

-- now released is The secret of Monkey Island Special Edition!, if you ever played games in the early 90s youll know why it was re-released! Graphics back then were... a little under-developed shall we say! :P it ran on DOS, so no mouse... and it was all text based (no actors voicing characters)

2) Monkey Island 2: LeChucks Revenge

As Guybrush and his love Elaine hang onto ropes in a void, he tells her the story of how they got in this situation (there the game begins). Guybrush has decided to find the greatest of all treasures (Big Whoop). Unwittingly, he helps revive LeChuck, bringing him back to life in zombie form. Guybrush is eventually captured by LeChuck, but escapes with help from Wally and finds the treasure only to find himself dangling from a rope, as depicted at the beginning of the game. As Guybrush concludes his story, his rope breaks and he finds himself facing LeChuck, whom he must defeat using voodoo.

3) The curse of monkey island (LOVED IT)

After the vague and surreal ending of Monkey Island 2, Guybrush Threepwood is inexplicably found on the sea in a floating bumper car with two helium balloons. Guybrush is trying to recall in his journal how he ended up in this dire situation and his escape from the Big Whoop where he was trapped for an undisclosed period of time. He eventually approaches Plunder Island, which is governed by Elaine Marley and is currently under siege by LeChuck himself. After a lengthy exchange where LeChuck is rebuffed in his attempts to woo Elaine, both notice Guybrush, and he is quickly recaptured by LeChuck. While seeking a way out, Guybrush causes LeChuck to blast himself to smithereens, finds a diamond ring in LeChuck's treasure hold, and escapes the ship whilst sinking it. He then reunites with his love, Elaine Marley, and officially proposes to her, offering her the diamond ring he found on LeChuck's ship. Unbeknownst to him is the fact that the ring is cursed, and Elaine gets turned into a gold statue as soon as she puts it on. Guybrush must then retrieve the statue, which is stolen almost immediately, and return her to human form. The Voodoo Lady tells Guybrush that he must travel to Blood Island to find a certain uncursed diamond ring to break the spell. In doing so, he must get a crew, a ship, the statue of Elaine, and a map as nobody knows where Blood Island is anymore.

4) Escape from monkey island (least favourite)

When Guybrush Threepwood and Elaine Marley return from their honeymoon, they find that Elaine has been declared officially dead, her mansion is under destruction order, and her position as governor is up for election. Guybrush investigates and unearths a conspiracy by LeChuck and evil real estate developer Ozzie Mandrill to use a voodoo talisman, "The Ultimate Insult," to make all pirates docile in order to turn the Caribbean into a center of tourism.

5) Tales of monkey island -5 parts (really good so far!!)

During a heated battle with his nemesis, the evil pirate LeChuck, Guybrush unwittingly unleashes an insidious pox that rapidly spreads across the Caribbean, turning pirates into zombie-like monsters. The Voodoo Lady sends Guybrush in search of a legendary sea sponge to stem the epidemic, but this seemingly straightforward quest has surprises around every corner

These games are so much fun to play!! Each game uses puzzles to challenge the player. There are minigames (insult swordfighting!!), fun little recipes (voodoo concotion), and tons of pop-culture references (spoofs, in-jokes, humourous references in general)!

*runs off to play The Secret of monkey Island SE*

They are really old. I guess it depends on your age. (Curse of monkey island -my favourite- came out in 1997 wheb I was 10yrs old) They were created by lucas arts (who are well known for their point-and-click adventures) However the Tales of Monkey Island are new! :) you should def. check them out.

Heres the site for that: http://www.telltalegames.com/monkeyisland

More games by lucas you may or may not recognize: same and max, indiana jones, grim fandango
