Masaryk
I just got a Golden Compass for completing one of Esophagor's quests. I'm trying to decide whether or not I should keep it or sell it. I'm not an avid BDer. I've earned all of the BD avatars (except PB Sid, but I need to LOSE to him). I'm not done all of the DoN quests, but after the Meerca Henchmen battle, I'm not sure that upgrading my Scarab Ring to a Golden Compass will make that much difference in the long run. So, for casual BDing, should I keep or sell? These are Frostgleam's BD stats and current equipment: Agility : 66 Attack Strength : 93 Defence Strength : 86 Current hp: 120 / 120 Level : 93 Ylanas Blaster Snowglobe Staff (my freezing scroll broke) Scarab Ring Leaf Shield Greater Healing Scroll plus one-use items, as needed
Noog
I would replace the scarab ring with your new GC. Although I think that professional BDers would say to use it depending on who you are going to face. So overall keep it :)
BlackJaguar
I suggest keep it for now. you can use it or sell it for a higher price once a plot happens.
stephie23
I ended up going out and buying one. :) you are super lucky to get it for a quest, was it an expensive quest ?? ... I would suggest you keep it, might be useful in a future plot :)

I only do Esophagor's quests if they cost me less than 2000 np. Thanks for the advice, everyone. I will keep it for now. BTW, any suggestions on how I can cheaply improve my BD gear? I don't want to spend millions of neopoints on equipment that will only get used on plots and DoN.
stephie23
you're still super lucky, I never get anything good from his quests! :P lol. I don't battle much and apart from the items you have listed .. I use a prickly potion, its cheap compared to really good battledome items, but 400k might still be above what you're looking to spend...
Lion
tdnBP has a guide on "basic" weapon sets -- it's here. Also, I have to work on BP sets for my application, once I've done the final bits of the sets, I may give them to you. :) P.S.: I noticed about your pet's agility, are you going to train it any higher? Agility has no real effect in the Battledome, apart from that some weapons need some of it for you to be able to use it.

My current BD set mostly matches the intermediate one (aside from Ylanas Blaster), but I find the set to be a little lacking. I don't want to pay for the advanced set, though. Maybe a Prickly Potion would be a good choice for me, since they're cheap, and so am I. Actually, I've never trained Frostgleam for Agility. It all came from Air Faerie quests. I'm superstisious about rejecting Faerie quests most of the time. :D

I would def. recommend the prickly potion! :) ... and as for better items.. whats the point right now.. its not even like we're going to be seeing a plot anytime soon :(
