why do we like neopets?

so we're all neopets addicts here :P i was thinking.. why is neopets such a big success? why do we all love it so much?

 

personally, and im no gaming expert, i think its about the encouragement to create goals, and being rewarded accordingly - the player WANTS to get to the next stage..

 

what do you guys think?

for me its a timefiller and relaxor, accept when i want that avi i cant get, then it frustrates me lol

its not demanding and you can spend as much time on it as you want or have

There's just so many things to do on Neopets and there really isn't a standard goal for everybody. We all do our own thing. That's probably why Neopets is successful. :)

What I like on neopets is that I'm able to relax. I can truly enjoy the site. The idea of having goals, and being able to talk to new people. The ability to meet people from other countries just like you. The ability to feel like you're earning NP, because heaven knows I'm not earning any in real life right now. xD

Ultimately, it's Escapism that lured me to Neopets. The luxury of being able to escape the boredom and monotony of real life is what drew me here.

Now that I look at my past on Neo as a 13 year old I only joined and liked it for the old Neopets.

It's fun and kills some of the free time I have during summer vacation. I enjoy just doing my own thing and working towards my own goals. Some of the flash games are pretty fun, too.

Because it gives me something to talk about on TDN :P It's just a great fun site, like someone said earlier, it makes you create goals to reach. I's like another life giving you responsibility.

I started playing Neopets because my sister-in-law plays Neopets, and she kept bugging me to join. I resisted for quite a while, because I knew it would be a huge time-sink for me. I was already playing a flash games for a couple hours each day, and I thought that all of the added stuff on Neo would cause my time spent playing games to snowball. Well, sometimes I do spend a lot of time playing games. Once I start setting goals, it's hard to back off.

 

Games are there as a means to relax, escape, and have fun. Neopets does all that stuff for me, plus adds a few goals. If I wasn't spending much of my free time playing Neopets, I'd be playing other games instead. But, I'm rather attached to my pets, so I don't think I'll be giving up Neopets any time soon.
