The Seven Kings

Mine - The Antichrist is killed and then resurrects himself and is indwelt with Satan. He then proclaims himself god. (This is after the ten kingdoms set up by the Antichrist). King god Antichrist.

A Roman historian - Ancient Rome, Nero kills himself and a "like" Domitian becomes emperor.

Other historical - Can apply to many different and numerous persons through out the ages.

So I can see how those violently opposed to the R. Catholics and the :pope:s could come to that conclusion. I don't really view it that way + I don't think the Catholic elite would elect a :pope: indwelt with Satan.

Revelations Chapter Two coming straight up!

2:1 To the angel of the assembly in Ephesus write: "He who holds the seven stars in his right hand, he who walks among of the seven golden lampstands says these things:

2:2 "I know your works, and your toil and perseverance, and that you can't tolerate evil men, and have tested those who call themselves apostles, and they are not, and found them false.

2:3 You have perseverance and have endured for my name's sake, and have not grown weary.

2:4 But I have this against you, that you left your first love.

2:5 Remember therefore from where you have fallen, and repent and do the first works; or else I am coming to you swiftly, and will move your lampstand out of its place, unless you repent.

2:6 But this you have, that you hate the works of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.

2:7 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies. To him who overcomes I will give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the Paradise of my God.

2:8 "To the angel of the assembly in Smyrna write: "The first and the last, who was dead, and has come to life says these things:

2:9 "I know your works, oppression, and your poverty (but you are rich), and the blasphemy of those who say they are Jews, and they are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.

2:10 Don't be afraid of the things which you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested; and you will have oppression for ten days. Be faithful to death, and I will give you the crown of life.

2:11 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies. He who overcomes won't be harmed by the second death.

2:12 "To the angel of the assembly in Pergamum write: "He who has the sharp two-edged sword says these things:

2:13 "I know your works and where you dwell, where Satan's throne is. You hold firmly to my name, and didn't deny my faith in the days of Antipas my witness, my faithful one, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells.

2:14 But I have a few things against you, because you have there some who hold the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to throw a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit sexual immorality.

2:15 So you also have some who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans likewise.

2:16 Repent therefore, or else I am coming to you quickly, and I will make war against them with the sword of my mouth.

2:17 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies. To him who overcomes, to him I will give of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written, which no one knows but he who receives it.

2:18 "To the angel of the assembly in Thyatira write: "The Son of God, who has his eyes like a flame of fire, and his feet are like burnished brass, says these things:

2:19 I know your works, your love, faith, service, patient endurance, and that your last works are more than the first.

2:20 But I have this against you, that you tolerate your woman, Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. She teaches and seduces my servants to commit sexual immorality, and to eat things sacrificed to idols.

2:21 I gave her time to repent, but she refuses to repent of her sexual immorality.

2:22 Behold, I will throw her into a bed, and those who commit adultery with her into great oppression, unless they repent of her works.

2:23 I will kill her children with Death, and all the assemblies will know that I am he who searches the minds and hearts. I will give to each one of you according to your deeds.

2:24 But to you I say, to the rest who are in Thyatira, as many as don't have this teaching, who don't know what some call 'the deep things of Satan,' to you I say, I am not putting any other burden on you.

2:25 Nevertheless, hold firmly that which you have, until I come.

2:26 He who overcomes, and he who keeps my works to the end, to him I will give authority over the nations.

2:27 He will rule them with a rod of iron, shattering them like clay pots; as I also have received of my Father:

2:28 and I will give him the morning star.

2:29 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies.

PS: After this I'm going straight to Chapter 4. I don't want anymore longwinded letters.

That's the thing, the Antichrist will come with a disguise. We won't know who he is until he shows himself.

Yes. Tell me its not tedious.

!!! Ahhh !!! :O Here is a cheat page, http://www.biblegateway.com/.

I found in April after another forumer told me about it.

2:1 to 2:4 - Letter to Church of Ephesus. Key Idea - "you left your first love". They (the church) had left some form of love towards each other or Christ weaken. John writes the Church will die out if they don't change paths.

2:8 - 2:11 - Letter to Church of Smyrna. Key Idea - "Be faithful even to the point of death and you shall be rewarded."

2:12 - 2:17 - Letter to the Church of Pergamum. "I know your works and where you dwell, where Satan's throne is." The Church has been getting out of hand with sin, and the Word of God will strike 'em down if they don't change.

2:17 - end - Letter to the Church of Thyatira. There is a prophetess Jezebel who is seducing church members. God will cast anyone who sleeps with her or tolerates her into hell. And to everyone else in the churhc, "Nevertheless, hold firmly that which you have, until I come." Those who do will be rewarded with the Morning Star, Jesus.

I always wondered what the differences were between Catholic,Christian ,Mormon, and Pres were...

What are the diffs?

Christians do not recognize the Virgin Mary or the Saints (as far as I know, I may be wrong). Women can become Ministers in the Christian religion. In Catholicism, women are not allowed to become priests because priests are supposed to represent Jesus and Jesus was a man...hmm I don't know what else and I don't know too much about other religions.

I'll add to that, too. (I'm really annoyed about this btw) So this is technically what it is supposed to be.

Christian = Followers of Jesus, One Religion

Roman Catholic, Anglican, Presbyterian, Orthodox = Denominations of Christianity, not their own religion.

Here is a pic of the Church "Family".

churchesyj8.png

Starting at the top, Chrisianity is what links everything together - the belief in Jesus as the savior.

Going downward, (Roman) Catholicism was the only church that super survived the pagan Roman Empire. In fact, it became the ruling class hundreds of years later. It is still the largest denomination of Christians today.

However during the late-late 4th century (395), the Roman Empire split into two halves. The West Roman Empire in Rome and the East Roman Empire (Byzantine Empire) in Constantinople. Slowly the two church from each Empire drifted apart in culture and language and in 1054, the Great Schism occured and resulted in the Eastern Othodox Church.

Fast forward 500 years, to the second large separtation, the Reformation. The beginning credit goes to Mr. Martin Luther, who being unhappy with the Church, literally nailed a list of problems of the R. Catholic Church to a church door. A large movement soon began and include people such as Luther, John Calvin, and Ulrich Zwingli and resulted in the formation of a few of the different Protestant churches.

Of course there were many other different movements (like the Puritans and Quakers), but there is way to many to even think about typing. And of course each Protestant Church, Catholic, and Orthodox are split into different parts too x_x. For example, the Lutheran Church (Protestant) is split into the Missouri, Wisconsin, ELC and about 9 other synods.

Also there are several other churches, for example the Mormons (Latter Day Saints), who could or could not be considered Christians at all, depending on who you talk to (Mormons consider themselves Christian). Also there are non-denominational churches, who are christian, but aren't in "denominations."

--------------------------------------------------------

Differences between the Churches

A lot - there have been millions of deaths and executions between denominations and their beliefs. Examples: Irish Catholic vs Prot. terrorist groups are still active today, Pro. England vs Cath. Spain, the "Gangs of New York" movie - Cath Immigrants vs Pro. Americans.

Examples of Differences

  • Mary and other Saints, Prayer to Saints
  • View of Eucharist
  • Means of Salvation - Baptism, Infant Baptism
  • Sacraments, Good Works
  • Iconage - Paintings and decorations allowed in Church
  • Grace
  • Predestination, Salvation, Free will
  • Purgatory, Eternal Hell, End Times, Judgement, Exorcism
  • Role and Type of Clergy, Marriage of Clergy
  • Past History
  • Divorce, Death Penalty, War, Contraception

Like for example,

Iconage and Prayer to Saints are accepted by the Catholics and emphasized by Orthodox.

However, Protestant Church condemn these ideas.

Huge List of Churches

OK. Thanks Chipmonker. Here's Chapter 4: Copied and pasted from a website. Its a different version altogether:

1After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, "Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this." 2At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it. 3And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper and carnelian. A rainbow, resembling an emerald, encircled the throne. 4Surrounding the throne were twenty-four other thrones, and seated on them were twenty-four elders. They were dressed in white and had crowns of gold on their heads. 5From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. Before the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits[a] of God. 6Also before the throne there was what looked like a sea of glass, clear as crystal.

In the center, around the throne, were four living creatures, and they were covered with eyes, in front and in back. 7The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle. 8Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under his wings. Day and night they never stop saying: "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come." 9Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, 10the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne, and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say:

11"You are worthy, our Lord and God,

to receive glory and honor and power,

for you created all things,

and by your will they were created

and have their being."

Spooky!

  • 2 weeks later...

There are thousands of different churches. But many are very small (as compared to the large ones) and remotely relate to the different main church bodies.

Like for example, there are a bunch of Oceania churches, but really don't have to relate to nothing. And just taking a guess, they might only have 10,000 church members across the world that claim that particular church as to Roman Catholics who have a few million members.

And of course there are many religions that are not Christian like Judiasm, Islam, Hindu, Buddhism, Non-Religious... all of which count for the rest of the 4 billion peeps.
