naalaro Posted May 7, 2009 Share Posted May 7, 2009 A topic recently had me thinking on the subject of realism in Neopets as a game, and as a product catering to us consumers. Do you think that TNT can add in more creative effects to increase the level of realism in the game, be it on character development on the NPCs, the Pets themselves etc? I had this wish for the longest time that TNT would make the pets stop saying the same things all over again, and create actual dialogue that conforms to the current situation. For eg, if for instance you log in in the Morning Neopian standard time, your pets would actually pop up in an event box, shout Hello, good morning etc. If you've were away from the site for some time, a week or more, perhaps we could even get the pets to wail at you, or cry: Just where did you go??I missed you so much!! I was so lonely... To expand on that idea, such dialogue can be conformed to the nature of your pets. I always felt that one part of the Create your pet section... where you sort of determine your pets character, was a dead zone with no game design values at all. If the dialogues of the different neopets changes according to the Pet's character you selected, why not get differing dialogue to go with it as well? What i feel that neopets lack for the longest time is that they portray the Pets as simply pets, leading no lives except to serve our own when we log on. Realistically such a situation can be improved in so many ways. Would your pet throw a tantrum and break your items in your inventory because you made him or her sad/angry by mistreating or neglecting him/her? Would your pet suddenly ask and keep pestering you for a particular food item on their birthday, or would giving them a gift on their birthday raise their happiness level to the maximum and prompting hugs/kisses shown in an event box? If you battle too much, would you pet get scared and refuse to fight if you chose to give it a timid nature? Im sure what i touched on is only the tip of an iceberg of small, minute changes that are feasible and doable but would improve the overall gameing experience so much more. If they had done this instead of that whole site makeover, or new graphics, customization... i, for one would be enjoying this game much much more then i am now.
