Soundblaster though. xD I'm at work, so I can't remember everything or check. I plan to get a semi-decent computer system one of these days after I get a new job. haha
Eric
I'd normally enforce the 14-day rule, but since it opens up conversation, I'm going to let it slide. Toshiba Portege A100 Pentium M 1.4 GHz 496MB RAM 40GB HD (I think) DVD Player (doesn't burn >_<) Yeah, it's not much, but it's a school laptop. It's allowed to be cruddy. :P

Superfly
Just 1 question: Why would they put a DVD player on a school laptop? To play DVD's :P I just recently got a laptop, so here is the info: Its a Compaq 512 Ram 60 GB HD Wireless already installed Windows XP DVD drive (that burns) Who knows or can even remember this stuff! .Dan.
Dude,my old man's a teacher. His school leases out some really crappy laptops. They were so security conscious they removed all the CD drives in the school, from every single ICT desktop down to even Faculty PCs..
Eric
Haha...that's pretty harsh. I have no idea why we still have our DVD drives. It's a good thing they didn't take it out, though.
Fuzio
My question is, why is there a time limit as to when you can post on a thread? If you don't want people posting on a thread after it's been 'dead' for 14 days, delete it. o_O I don't look at dates. Most of the threads I posted on were near the top of the boards, I assumed they weren't old.
Eric
That's because, admittedly, some of the boards are rather dead. :laughingsmiley: We choose to leave 14-day boards open because deleting them severly messes up people's post counts. Now...back on topic. I have a keyboard. ^_^
Matt
Off topic for a second, we do allow 14 day old topics to be replied to, if the reply is relevant and aids the conversation on more (For example, if someone was wondering if they were going to get an Xbox 360 or a Wii for Christmas, and they got an Xbox 360 in the end, we'd allow that.) On topic for now, Aren't high spec computers coming down in price because of the anticipation of Windows Vista preinstallation?
.Dan.
I didn't get that. Do you mean they're cheaper because the newer, Cure Duo or Quad Cores will have Vista pre-installed, or they're cheaper because they're compatible?
grass_tiger
The fourteen day rule never made sense to me either - if we shouldn't post to them perhaps they should just be closed. I've had to PM people to answer their old questions since I couldn't post. On topic: I have a TravelMate 2423 laptop Intel Celeron 370 1.5GHz 14.1 wide screen 80GB HD DVD/CD-RW combo 1 gig memory wireless I like that it is small, lightweight, and has a wide screen. Otherwise it is a pretty standard laptop...and inexpensive as laptops go. And I am a computer geek - or at least was. I worked in computer technical support (hardware and software, laptops and desktops in the corporate environment) and Information Security (Firewalls, Anti-virus, Virtual Private Networks, etc.) for 6 years, before I became disabled. Especially the RAM and Graphics Adapter. :laughingsmiley: It is able to have 496 RAM because the Graphics Adapter is onboard, this is, doesn't have it's own memory. So it uses the RAM memory to store video data. In reality she has 512MB. My laptop has 224MB also, 32MB is for the video card (aka Graphics Adap.)
