TheUnknown
I'm almost sure that announced giveaways aren't allowed on Neopets, but how about announced ones OFF of Neopets? Is that a freezable offense in any way towards the giver and receiver?
imnotgeorge
do you mean that you're giving away non-neopets things and announcing it on neopets? or that youre giving away neopets items/money, but announcing it outside of neopets? I dont know the answer to either one but you weren't really clear on it.
TheUnknown
do you mean that you're giving away non-neopets things and announcing it on neopets? or that youre giving away neopets items/money, but announcing it outside of neopets? I dont know the answer to either one but you weren't really clear on it. Say I had 10mil NP and I, on the Help Board, said I would give away 1 mil to the next 10 people who posted. That would be an announced giveaway on Neopets, which is not allowed. However, if I was to do the same thing say... here, or on Neodaq or another Neopets community, that Neopets does not own, is it allowed? imnotgeorge
TDN recently held a contest whose winners were awarded neopoints. Presumably if that's allowed then what you propose is also allowed.
ChaoticFission
why? are you giving away 10 mil to the next 10 posters? :D

jun
Actually, This is easy for me to answer. TNT Does not Like the idea of this, and it is frowned upon by them. But I do not believe they will ban you for doing it, just again, frowned upon. This means outside the site. Though, Selling and Give away of Items happens many times, and giveaway of Merchandise (cards, plush toys) is 100% allowed. Why, my friend Fuzio buys the Key*quest cards offline all the time (Though i suppose you might think that different) Anyways, I think you are allowed to do it, But for something where you need to chip in NP or so (Like a lottery) I would say no, it shouldn't be practiced, as that can still get an account banned. Though, I suppose that would be using neopets more then intended..
Unstream
I think the reason why TNT frowns upon it is that people can scam others by doing this, such as "give me your password and username and I'll give you 10 mil" or something, but I still think that you can still get in trouble on site because TNT will think you're trying to scam people. And it's the same thing with contests. Of course, if you hold it off site, TNT will probably never know, but it's probably still against the rules. You'll probably never get caught though... ChaoticFission
i like your certainty/uncertainty unstream. this message will probably self-destruct in 5 seconds.
jun
i like your certainty/uncertainty unstream. this message will probably self-destruct in 5 seconds. Five.... Four.... Three...... two..... o*BOOM* U: My Lupe!!!!! But anyways, Yes, that's mainly the reasons it is frowned upon Unstream, the scamming ways. But still, I wouldn't tempt the Techo gods if you catch my drift
naalaro
Happens all the time, and even worse, there are plenty of people gold farming of neopets (which although HARD is not impossible). Im sure that would be illegal, but people do it anyway.
Unstream
What I'm saying is that, even though it is against the rules, you'll probably never get caught for it if you hold it off-site. Or at least that's what I think.

Or at least that's what I think. I agree with Unstream. If you don't advertise it on Neopets' site, you probably won't be penalized. I also think that TNT will frown upon it less if you're doing a contest, like on TDN, where you have to actually complete/answer something in order to receive a prize. If you're just giving away items and neopoints for no reason, to users who only happened to reply the fastest, then it seems less... honorable, I suppose. :eh:

I have a guild and I held contests before without ever getting in trouble. But competitions are completely legal. That's where you compete, but there's no prize, or there can be a prize like notoriety or some sort of graphic trophy or something.
