Unstream
I saw a topic earlier in this board from about two years ago and it was called "What will the Earth be like in 1,000 years?". After reading through a couple of pages, the discussion topic quickly turned into "How will the world end?". I think it'd be interesting to see how people think the world will end now, since two years has passed. So, how do you think the world will end and when? Stephé
Hm...interesting. i'm not the one to comment but the world will end way after we die unless the world does something so severe that it could trigger the earth to explode...so that's my opinion according to the world of me
antiaircraft
I think the world will end when mankind, in some way or other, destroys it. We're the only species dumb enough to comprehensively destroy our own habitat (and ourselves as well).
Unstream
We're the only species dumb enough to comprehensively destroy our own habitat (and ourselves as well). xD That's probably true. We're a tremendous drain on the earth's resources. Still, I think the world would probably end of some natural cause before we destroy it. We'd also probably kill ourselves off before the end of the world.
~warriorcatsforever~
i think we are going to end up destroying the earth. things could catch up to us and the world could end naturally, but if it doesnt were going to end up turning this place into a barren wasteland with no life, plants, animals, or any environment. im not looking forward to it, hopefully ill be dead by then..... humans are evil.
Moncsi
Im agree with theabove mentioned. I think pullution is a burning issue nowdays. To prevent it is too expensive. So its hard to do anything about it. But of course there are loads of people who try to do something about is. For instance in my family we collect rubbish selectively and trying to be as enviroment-friendly as we can. Mankind use more than it actually need. i think that will be the reason of the Earht end. Adris Undead
There's also this theory that our gallaxy is gonna crash with another galaxy and it's gonna be like a reversed bing bang. I can't remember where I saw that, buy this 2 galaxies are too close and their gravitation might atract the other one, since there's a black hole in the middle of galaxies which pulls close all the stars and planets. hahahaha I hope I got that right, I'm no expert, I just watched that tv show

It's funny though, because the Big Bang wasn't big, because everything started as a very very small and dense piece of matter, and there was no bang, because there was nothing for the sound to travel through. Still, I never really believed in the Big Bang theory. It just doesn't seem possible to me.
Adris Undead
Yeah I think it's called the Big Crunch or something. hahahaha I just imagined a huuuuuuge chocolate in the middle of the universe hahahahahaha
jessy
I don't know when it will happen but I agree, I think we will ultimately be the destroyer of our world.
Pirate Dante
My friend told me once that humans say that they are the most intelligent race in the world. Still, even though they claim to be the most intelligent, I don't see the "stupid" animals destroying rainforests or causing greenhouse effect. (I don't believe in the latter my self, nor does my friend). We are just waiting till Russia is ready to start invading Europe or something, which will ultimately start the 3rd world war, and since both USA and Russia have thousands of nuclear weapons to keep the other from attacking the other, cause if either one attacks, the other one has enough time to attack too, destroing both... There is so many Nuclear weapons that it would be likely that they would destroy the world...
Unstream
Hehe if nuclear weapons destroyed the world then cockroaches would be the dominant species of the planet lol. Seriously. The idea that only cockroaches can survive a nuclear explosion is actually true, because their shell is highly resistant to radiation.
Blue_Flowers_Forever
On 12-12-2012, it will have been exactly 2,000 years sence we agreed to play this board game. those of us that have been awakened will return to how it was during the good old days, those of you who don't, will return to sorce. nether is a bad thing at all really, belive what you will. and to those of you who know what i'm taking about: i'll see you soon old friends! Unstream
eh heh, yeah... I don't know what you're talking about, but I don't believe in the 12/12/12 thing. There were tons of theories about the world ending on certain years, and so far they haven't come true. And what do you mean by the 2000 years thing? Can you elaborate about what you're saying? Revenge
Heh, there have been theories like that for years. Last time it was 6/6/06, then that story in 2004, I forgot the exact date mentioned but the details around it were weird... Some thought the world would end as soon as the second millenium started, it's all just hype. Paranoia. I do agree with one thing, though. Humans are extremely interesting in how much more intelligent than other creatures we are, yet at the same time much more stupid. Everything on earth has to be balanced in order for it to keep being. A human's balance is this equality in sophistication and idiocy. The world will end when it has come to the point where all sophistication is lost, even basic common sense passed from the Stone Age. That would leave the other half of us, the immorality, moronity, and lack of self-control without any restraints. Thus, using the 'intelligence' we've developed over the years, the world would go into catastrophic chaos. Statistically, we've already acquired enough weaponry as a whole to destroy the world five times over, so that would be the end of it. It would take years for us to reach this point, but we've had over 2000 years, and things like this tend to run with a 'snowball effect', if you know what I mean. Queen Diva
The world itself? When the core doesn't produce any more heat... We'll become like Mars. Alternatively, the sun will die or combust and we'll be blown away by the proceeding waves of.. stuff. As for humans? I dare say we'll kill ourselves very soon with the rate we're going .. climate change, nuclear weapons, a world wide air borne disease wipeout... something will cause it, and it'll be human made. But the world? I think it'll keep going. It has been for millions and millions of years without the help of us. I think it'll keep going.
Adris Undead
yeah I think if something like that happets it's gonna affect a lot of living things including us, but ultimately the world could survive without us. Or maybe, the people that survives are gonna evolve in some way, natural selection. maybe.. who knows!

Unstream
Deffently, it will be Global Warming! I hate it, Golbal Warming must stop! The funny thing about Global Warming is that there's a higher chance of the earth going into a snowball effect! See the thing is that it's much more likely for the earth to heat up at first, then cool down to the point where we're thrown into the next ice age. But even then, they've found that global warming corresponds with the sunspots on the sun, which are hotter, causing more radiation to hit the earth. Y'know that when Mt. St. Helens erupted, it emitted more greenhouse gases than everything the US has ever released?
̊ ˉˉ ̊
There are still more than enough nukes in both Russia and the US arsenals to destroy the world at least a few times over :) Yay MAD. And Russia's warning system has been deteriorating over time, so they could get freaked out and send some actual nukes into the sky. Then the US would see them and send their own. Then all of those other countries with nukes might think it's just the right time to send off theirs. And there we go, MAD.
Unstream
Lol you can thank Democritus for the nukes we have today. He was the first one who essentially searched for the atom. It was because of him chemistry really started (somewhat).
antiaircraft
Actually, I think it would be more appropriate to blame human nature. We can (and will) take practically anything and turn it into a part of a war machine.
Lyndsie
Hm, an interesting discussion. How will the world end, and when? Well, I really don't know how the world's going to end. I've got a small picture of how it'll end, but it's just a picture. Jesus is going to come for the Christians. That's really how my world's going to end. The rest is insignificant to me. As for the 'when', no one knows. Acts 1:7 "He said to them, 'It is not for you to know the times or periods the the Father has set by his own authority'". Matthew 24:36 "'Now concerning that day and hour no one knows - neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son - except the Father only'".
Cara
In about 4 billion years when then the suns core will collapse under its own gravity, making its atmosphere unstable causing it to expand. This will transform the sun into a huge red giant star which will pull in the other planets in our solar system and destroy them. But I'll be dead long before then so no worries :D
judykm
Cara, I like your answer! Much better than thinking we are going to destroy it with violence and destruction in the next 20 200 years. That is So depressing... I think I have to go lie down now.
