Crusher
Looking for some new add-ons for Firefox 3, remember that they MUST be compatible with FF£ as most people here probably have upgraded by now. Here are the ones I use and like. Flagfox 3.2.7 This cool little add-on displays the country of origin of the web page you are currently browsing in the bottom right of your screen. Awesome, but ultimately completely useless. 3.5/5 FoxyTunes 3.0.2 My most-used and best-loved addition, this adds pause/play/rewind/fast forward your music buttons straight into Firefox. Although I could just go into iTunes and do the same thing, this just tends to be quicker and easier when you're busy. Has a wide variety of downloadable skins, too. I recommend OnyxOrbs 1.16. 4.5/5 URL Fixer 1.4.3 Changes what you type in address bars (such as .cmo, or .nte) into their correct form. Useful to avoid phishing, but if you use bookmarking (and you probably do), this is much less useful. 3/5 PicLens 1.7.0.3459 Allows you to zoom through pictures on websites such as Flickr or Google Images with the twitch of a scroll wheel. I've had some troubles with getting it to work with some pages, but it has a search for a wide variety of sites built-in to the full-screen pop-up menu, so this is no big deal. The style of it is almost Apple-esque, and is definately worth a check-out if you ever look at artwork or collect image files for work purposes. All it needs is a bit more compatability and better integration. 4.5/5 Go ahead and try these out, if you like, and tell me what you think. Maybe even post about your add-ons to give me some more? =Cameron=
Guest Krawk Islander
Very nice add-ons. I use URL Fixer sometimes, and I've used PicLens and FoxyTunes, but I prefer going to iTunes and Google to search for my images. Didn't know about FlagFox, nifty add-on, thanks! Ones I absolutely RECOMMEND: Adblock Plus 0.7.5.5 An add-on that should be included with any web browser. Adblock Plus is arguably the best add-on for Firefox. It blocks all those intrusive ads you get, and it's very good at doing it via subscription lists (so you don't have to add them manually). You can find it here. 5/5 Gmail Notifier 0.6.3.5 Very good add-on. Notify you of emails that you receive in your Gmail account (I use this a lot). Find it here. 5/5 (I don't have to be constantly checking for emails). Greasemonkey 0.8 Allows you to customize the way a webpage displays using small bits of JavaScript. (It has some great ones for Neopets, such as adding more emoticons to Neoboards, using the theme you like, a very nifty Stock Market stock checker, theme modifier (you can use even ones you don't have), etc.). Very recommended. Find it here. 5/5 Hundreds of scripts, for a wide variety of popular sites, are already available at http://userscripts.org. Undo Closed Tabs Button 3.0.3 Tired of going to History -> Recently Closed Tabs just to undo a closed tab? Then this extension is for you! This extension allows you to undo closed tabs via a toolbar and/or tab bar button or the right-click context menu. Find it here. 4/5 WOT (Web of Trust) Similar to McAfee SiteAdvisor. Warns users about risky websites that try to scam visitors, deliver malware, or send spam. I highly recommend this add-on for everyone. As you search with Google, you will see a tiny icon next to the Web link: green to go, yellow to slow down, red to stop. You can easily customize the protection level to your way of surfing the Web. WOT has information on 19 million websites. WOT ratings are shown also on Yahoo!, Gmail, Wikipedia, and other sites. No registration is required. 5/5 Find it here. DownThemAll! 1.0.3 Best download manager EVER. It increases speeds by 400% AND...it works. Get rid of those crappy download managers, and get one that seamlessly integrates with Firefox. It's so easy to use. Description: DownThemAll is all you can desire from a download manager: it features an advanced accelerator that increases speed up to 400% and it allows you to pause and resume downloads at any time. DownThemAll is fast, reliable and easy-to-use! It lets you download all the links or images contained in a webpage and much more: you can refine your downloads by fully customizable criteria to get only what you really want! 5/5 Find it here. Firebug 1.2.0b4 For Web developers using Firefox, this is a must have (I don't know if Ian uses it :P). Firebug integrates with Firefox to put a wealth of development tools at your fingertips while you browse. You can edit, debug, and monitor CSS, HTML, and JavaScript live in any web page. Very useful. 5/5 Find it here. Foxmarks Bookmark Synchronizer If you use Firefox on more than one computer, you'll want Foxmarks. Install Foxmarks on each computer, and it will work silently in the background to keep your bookmarks synchronized. You can also log in to my.foxmarks.com to manage your bookmarks from any computer. Awesome. 5/5 Find it here. ForecastFox 0.9.7.6 Get international weather forecasts from AccuWeather.com, and display it in any toolbar or statusbar with this highly customizable and unobtrusive extension. I use it all the time. :) 5/5 Find it here. Colorful Tabs 3.2 The most beautiful yet the simplest add-on that makes a strong colorful appeal. Colors every tab in a different color and makes them easy to distinguish while beautifying the overall appearance of the interface. I love it. 4/5 Find it here. These are just some I use and I highly recommend. :king:
Crusher
I use a button in my Google Toolbar instead, which reminds me: Google Toolbar 3.1.20080605W Instant, customisable Google searching straight from your browser. Can be added to to include the ability to search some of your favourite websites, (such as GameSpot for me), or even add buttons alerting you to new Gmail messages! 4.5/5 =Cameron=
antiaircraft
I have just 2 add-ons to recommend in addition to the ones mentioned above: Firefox Showcase (current version 0.9.4.8) A must for the dedicated multi-tasker, this extension allows you to summon a window/tab with thumbnails of all the tabs you currently have open. Switching between tabs can be done simply by clicking, and you can even perform basic operations (such as reloading a page or going back/forward) from within the thumbnails. FireGestures (current version 1.1.2) Now you can be even lazier while surfing the web. :P With time-saving mouse gestures integrated into Firefox, your cursor doesn't even have to leave the content area. Guest Levy
I'm gonna recommend one I've had since version 1.5... Tab Mix Plus - Note, current version might not work on the most recently updated version of Firefox. I had to use a hacking add-on to change it's compatibility range. It works fine. This add-on is by far incredibly underrated. Not only does it allow you to undo closed tabs by just middle clicking the tab bar, it also shows web page load progress on other tabs you are currently not active on. It also lets you know if you haven't seen a tab that is loaded. It is also a session manager, keeping an eye on you tabs and backing them up if Firefox crashes. Another useful tool I've come across is the "copy tab url" function, that does what it is called. Another is "Close other tabs" which closes all tabs but you current active one. And another great feature is a small button on the left side of the tab bar that lets you open a blank tab with just a single click.
antiaircraft
Another is "Close other tabs" which closes all tabs but you current active one. I'm going to be my annoying self again, and point out that this feature is actually available without any add-ons. :P
