i guess now instead of complaining about never once getting a FFQ, all i have to do is spend real money and buy the Mutant Acara that i want. of course i could have always done that through those evil, evil offsite places, but it was wrong and bad to do that. but if i give Viacom the money, then it's perfectly fine.

sadly, i think they are past the point where they could have done something like that. i really wonder why they didn't do that when they got bought by Viacom though. i mean they were part of nickelodeon, why didn't they make a series? or the movie everyone was talking about. does anyone know why these things didn't happen?

this thread makes me sad and happy at the same time. sad because the UC pets are gone but happy because people like them because they looked better. on the neoboards so many people just like UC pets because they are 'rare' and 'status symbols'. bleh, whatever.

 

i like customizing, but honestly, i think nearly every pet was better before and certainly they were more interesting. Some colors were just absolutely ruined (Faerie, Grey, Plushie, Royal, etc.). The only color that I think really improved in general was robot and that's mostly because their outer casings were made removable. And judging by the Bruce, I think robot pets are getting even better.

 

a lot of the mutant pets are quite nice at least. everyone seems to love the Acara and Kau is just insanely great. does anyone remember the really old mutant pets that were redrawn back in the old days? the kiko and the chia? both of those were great.

i started on the site pretty much just a little bit after it came into existence. i remember the game cabinet and all that. everyone talks about "it started out as a site for college students" and it most definitely did, i was told to sign up by a college student because everyone at her school was playing it. you could buy wine and beer for your pets. :P

 

there are things i definitely like a lot about the current neopets. i like that events and plots happen a lot more often, there is definitely more to do to keep your interest level up. i like that you can transfer pets in a safe manner. i like that you can customize your pets (though i hate that they all have the same basic pose).

 

there are things i definitely dislike a lot about the current neopets. i really, really hate the way the forums and neomails are moderated. i get that it's more or less become a "kids site" now, but still the forums are so much less fun than they used to be. you literally have to watch everything you say in order to not get warned. some things, okay, i understand, no talking about booze or whatever, but you can't even mention off site places that entirely devoted to neopets? that's just stupid. and the users who go around trying to find things to report just because they can? yeah, that's great. yeah, people got frozen back in the old days too, but there was definitely a "more free" feeling to the place that is long, long gone. though, a lot of the blame for that does have to be placed on the users themselves. anyone else remember what general chat was like circa 2002 or so?

 

so ultimately there was good stuff back then and there is good stuff now, but for me, it was just a whole lot more fun back then.

 

oh and the game cookie (and the lab cookie too for that matter)? hate it, quite a lot.

no, i would need to have talked to them at least a bit first. it would like if i was walking down the street and some random person ran up and hugged me and was like: "HEY, LETS BE FRIENDS!!!!!" … umm, noooo.

my habi was causing a lag too, only it was lagging at the bank where i was trying to deposit some last second habi NPs and … the lag pushed me past midnight. no interest for me today. sadness. :(

The only question I have is: When it expires, what happens to your fifth pet? I hope Azarale stays, I'd hate to see him vanish. :(

 

No one knows yet (unless it was just announced). Most guesses are that you would get to keep the 5th slot until you pound or transfer a pet. But that's just total guessing from people.

i was going to actually, i had completely made up my mind to do it, i wanted the 5th pet slot. but not anymore, i'm sure Viacom is making enough money off of their game cookie, i'll just give mine to someone else.

neopets has done other stuff that realy really upset people before and then quickly gotten rid of it (eraser of the dark faerie, the original rainbow fountain). of course that was in the old days as opposed to the current Viacom days.

 

i am hoping this is a VERY short term thing, otherwise expect inflation to go (even more) through the roof to the point where only the people buying things with real money are able to do much on the site. actually, i kinda wonder if that's exactly what they are trying to do.

 

oh well, i was actually gonna sign up for premium, as i wanted the fifth pet. not now though, this has just ticked me off too much for that. i'll just spend my $70 on one of my other nerdy hobbies. i'll just buy a bunch of transformers or something instead. :P

i really wonder how much thought went into the creation of this thing. i mean with all the NP sinks tnt have been coming up with and now they throw that all away for something like this? why did they even bother making the wheel of extravogance when they have this thing which could fairly easily give people an extra 100k nps?? oh wait, i know why … $$$.

 

oh well, good job viacom, not only am i not gonna buy these things, now i'm not going to sign up for premium (which i was going to, as i really wanted that fifth pet) either, just because. there are other companies i would rather give my $70 to.
