  1. Oh, Laura, I'm so sorry to hear that. I can completely relate to what you've been going through. About 5 years ago my cat (who came to us as a stray and we had as a pet for over 12 years) developed stomach cancer and deteriorated quickly. It got to the point where she couldn't even drink water and subsequently became so weak she couldn't even move from the rug that she slept on. There was no way we could allow her to suffer any longer, and we decided to put her down. Our main priority was to make her as comfortable as possible before that happened (as I'm sure you will have with your dog), and the night before it happened we even slept on the rug with her so she wasn't alone. I'm sure that sounds ridiculous to those who aren't animal lovers, but it is truly losing a member of your family. It still brings me to tears.

The main thing is to understand that you've actually helped her. She was obviously suffering, and by releasing her from that you've done a wonderful thing, as awful as it feels just now. I'm sure she had a fantastic life with your family.

  2. I've been a member of a community (I won't mention the name as some of the content doesn't comply with TDN's rules) for around 7 years now. It started off as a Habbo Hotel forum, but when the close-knit members got older it became obvious that we had to move away from that branding. For a good few years now it has been a general discussion forum, and has changed management hands. Because everyone has got older (the majority of members are 20+) and there isn't a central theme (Neopets, for example), the forum is just dying. A number of things have been attempted to keep it going, but most people think it's had its day.

...that's why I'm glad I came across TDN Forums :P

  3. I have to completely agree with Manta - the artistic talent you possess at your age is truly amazing. I've shown your drawings in this topic to a friend of mine (I hope you don't mind) who is studying graphic design at university level and she is extremely impressed! :D

And even without any colour etc, Manta's draik is looking wonderful. :)

  4. I had transitions when I was in grade school, into middle school. I finally got rid of them. Back then, they took so long to go back to clear lenses, that I'd have to take them off when I got back into the classroom from recess or lunch. I'd set them on my desk, then forget and leave them there.

My mum has that problem. It's not so good when she works with computers and can't see a thing if she's just entered the building! :P

Hmm yeah, I've heard that a bunch of people who have transitions had that problem :/

AGUHHH my nosepiece broke off this morning >:( I JUST GOT THESE GLASSES ARGHHHHHHHHH :sad02:

Oh, no! Have you managed to get them fixed?

  5. It's just the way that Cornflakes present her point of view. It was slightly antagonistic and basically told Rose that she shouldn't approach life optimistically. I think it's a good mentality and I encourage her to keep it.

It's not so much burying negative feelings as much as realizing there are good elements in your life.

I don't think it was a case of "don't be optimistic about anything", but more reassurance that it is OK to feel down at times. Like I said, as long as you're not moping around everywhere, then you're optimistic about something, but not to the extent that any negativity is blocked out.

But if Rose doesn't feel as if she's blocking anything, and actually feels better by doing what she says then I have no reason not to support it. Everyone handles things in different ways.

  6. I agree with Cornflakes that it's unhealthy to keep negative feelings building up inside. A balance is good. As long as you're not moping around or bouncing off the walls off the time, I think it's ok. Sometimes you need to let negative feelings out, and sometimes you need enjoy yourself. I've had a bad couple of years (which continues) and there are times when the negativity takes over and everything feels pointless, but when I have a good time it makes me appreciate it so much more.

When I'm not feeling well or when bad things happen to me, I try to find things to make me smile. Even if it's just looking at a picture that is funny or watching a stupid video. Most of the time, it forces the smile out of me and it works.

I actually created a Tumblr page a short time ago and use it to post videos, images, quotes (to myself) that I find funny or just generally like, so when I'm feeling down I can browse through them. :)

  7. We had around 18 inches of snow here from the end of November until the beginning of January, when it started melting. It was awful. The UK grinds to a halt when there is the slightest flurry, so imagine what this was like! There are still patches lying around, which have solidified to ice. The temperature is still struggling to get above freezing so it'll be lying there for a while, I think!

  8. I've worn glasses constantly for around 2 years now (before that it was for watching TV and looking at the board in classes etc). The last time I was at the opticians they said my eyesight had improved slightly. I don't think I actually need to wear my glasses all the time (i.e. when I'm up and about - not if I'm lazing around), but I do so anyway because I frequently get headaches that I'm sure are related to eye strain. I'm confused as to whether wearing the glasses is supposed to help improve your sight or not, because some people claim that you become dependent on them!

Last year I asked my optician if I could try contacts. I was able to work with them fine, but I found that they didn't actually make my sight any better. I was told my eyesight "wasn't bad enough", but I think it could be due to my slight astigmatism. I'm so used to wearing glasses now anyway that it'd feel weird to walk around without them!

The only thing I hate about my glasses is when its cold outside and you go inside you cant see anything ~-~

Haha, me too! If anyone looks at me strangely when I take my glasses off and lay them down for a while I have to announce that "I've steamed up". :D

  9. I was surprised by how many points I got (51,500 without doing any Battledome, Plain of Peace, or Nox's Locks steps), but since this is my first plot I think I'll follow the advice in this thread and wait a while before I buy anything. I'm not sure if there's anything I particularly want anyway! I'm just happy to have a plot trophy. :)

  10. Hello!

I'm Danielle and I'm from Scotland. I started playing Neopets around 10 years ago, and stopped around 2006. A friend of mine (who also played at that time) mentioned the site to me a few months ago and I attempted to make my account active again. Unfortunately, I'd forgotten my password and changed emails accounts so couldn't access it. Before I could get in touch with TNT, the account was deleted (oh, all those NPs!) and I had to create a new one. Since then, I've been using TDN for my dailies, game guides and news, and decided to join the forum!

I'm still trying to get used to all the changes that have occurred during my 5 year absence, so please bear with me. :D
